¡iba a probar mi primer Porsche! … Resultado, me decepciono.

In this episode of the Fully Charged Show Podcast, we're doing something a little different—and we're very intrigued to hear your thoughts! This extended interview features legendary car designer Ian Callum, CBE (former Aston Martin and Jaguar designer including the i pace) and Alec Jones, Head of Design at Callum and the mastermind behind Nyobolt's Lotus Elise reimagined for the electric era. As experts in car design, Ian and Alec gave their unfiltered opinions on some AI-generated car designs Imogen created using Vizcom. Their critiques? Let's just say they weren't glowing. But what followed was a fascinating and thought-provoking conversation about creativity, the role of AI tools, the future of car design and whether these technologies will harness human imagination—or overshadow it. So, sit back and enjoy this engaging discussion on the future of design, the magic of human creativity, and the role AI will play in shaping our world. @fullychargedshow @EverythingElectricShow This interview was originally recorded for an episode on AI and the future of car development which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/cYTmfJrYvBo This podcast was brought to you by OVO's Charge Anywhere. Car Week Update, including: the Vintage Ferrari market nosedives at Pebble Beach. Jason sells his Lotus Elise. === Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-Rev === Neither of the Carmudgeons went to Sunday's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but both boys were at Car Week for the rest of the week. And then left to shoot an episode of "Jason Cammisa on the ICONS" and "Ultimate Drag Race Replay." Which was even hotter than it was in the studio, where it was over 100ºF recording the Lexus LFA episode. Sreten from M539 destroyed Jason's house, warehouse, and life, but resurrected an E60 M5 (that OTS & Co will be selling!) They discuss some Behind-the-Scenes on what it's like to try to close a road — Jason means it when he says "professional idiot on a closed course." Hint: it doesn't always work. Derek's company, OTS & Company, sold Jason's 2009 Lotus Elise SC, which was a pleasant surprise for Jason, who's never sold through an agent before — and who is generally terrible at selling cars. Jason is now a convert — and wants OTS&Co to sell everything! OTS & Co also won an award at the Quail with the Ferrari 365 "Croisette" shooting break at the Quail! That coach built Ferrari might be the Ultimate Car Week Car! But it could be M539's Ring Taxi homage E60 M5 manual! But the real surprise at Car Week was how poorly the Blue Chip Ferraris did at auction. There were some other cars that were soft (including two Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II that sold below Derek's expectations) but the multiple-million-dollar 1950s and 1960s Ferrari market was the big shock. At the same time, a Ferrari F50 hit a new record at $5.5 million with fees — so there's probably not some major bubble bursting. Maybe it's just a generational shift? Lots of philosophical discussion ensues. You should listen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
What is going everyone and welcome back to TT! This week, we have another awesome guest. I welcome Elisa Artioli on to Tormenting Tarmac. Elisa is the granddaughter of Romano Artioli, the former Chairman and owner of both Lotus and Bugatti back in the 90's. And even cooler as her name suggests, her grandfather named the all new then Lotus Elise after her. It is an awesome story. We chat about her passions for both Lotus and Bugatti, nerd out on the brand new Tourbillon, give our overlong appreciation for the EB110, her thoughts between her two personal Elise's, what is her daily (you won't see it coming) and so much more. This was a real treat and I am grateful to Elisa for her time despite the 9 hour time difference. Please give her a follow @iamlotuselise and her driving tours page @delightfuldriving. Enthusiasts never die!
Jamie Orr joins us for a chat about all things automotive from his younger years. Growing up in Scotland there were Minis, Metros and Ford Sierras. Later on, he moved down south and was taught to drive at the legendary TRL (home of GTI International). His Dad used to restore motorbikes in a high rise flat, had a manual lathe from a submarine, and bought a Lotus Elise as his company car! But both of his parents are petrol heads - now driving a VW Beetle and Mk4 Golf with BBS alloys! We touch on the DVLA in Swansea, how this may have been a 'gift' from the Government in lieu of closing the coal mines. In fact the DVLA was formed in Swansea in 1965 and the mines closed in the 1980's but it was a nice theory! We also speak about how Jamie got into VWs (his grandparents Scirocco Storm may have been a slight influence) but he bought his first when he moved to the USA. We hope you enjoy these tales and many more in this great episode. They mention the wrecked 993 turbo owned by an 81-year-old man who was hooning his car in Germany. In this final part of the conversation, the hosts discuss the unfortunate accidents involving Porsche cars, including a silver 911 that crashed into a river and a GT3 RS that also ended up in a river. They also talk about the appeal of air-cooled Porsches and the difference in driving experience between older and newer models. The conversation then shifts to the topic of manual transmissions and the enjoyment of driving cars with more feedback and involvement. They mention the Mazda Miata, Lotus Elise, and Honda Civic Type R as examples of fun and engaging cars to drive. The hosts also discuss the limitations of AI-generated audio and the need to find a program that allows for custom intros. In this "In the Garage" podcast episode, guest Michael Chang discusses the common mistakes people make when buying a used car and how to avoid them. Michael, drawing from his personal experiences with cars like the RX-7 and Lotus Elise, shares valuable tips for first-time car buyers and enthusiasts. The conversation includes how to conduct thorough research before purchasing, to specific checks like compression tests, inspecting oil caps for milky residue (indicating a blown head gasket), and assessing the paint thickness to identify repainting and repairs. Michael emphasizes the importance of not getting carried away by a seemingly great deal and doing proper due diligence to avoid costly mistakes.TOPICS: - Common mistakes in buying a used car.- Importance of a compression test and other pre-purchase checks.- Looking for signs of a blown head gasket.- Checking paint thickness to identify repairs and repainting.- The impact of track miles on a car's condition.- The risk of ignoring minor issues.- The significance of service records and Carfax reports.- Inspecting for signs of flooding and other hidden damages.- Assessing wear and tear to estimate mileage accurately.- The concept of a comprehensive checklist for car buying.SponsorsCarparts.com App - http://carparts.comJC Whitney Magazine & Catalog - http://jcwhitney.comFollow ushttps://www.youtube.com/@CarPartscomOfficialhttps://www.instagram.com/carpartscom/https://www.tiktok.com/@carpartscom?lang=enhttps://www.facebook.com/carpartscomhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/carparts-com/

The Lotus Emira is fantastic — and the Carmudgeons have a lot to say about it. The last gasoline-powered Lotus is certainly a looker — but it's very closely related to the Evora it replaces. And while the Evora was always good, was it ever truly great? == Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-ICONS == Jason, who owns a Lotus Elise, is always in search of "bad cars" — sports cars that provide experience but make poor transportation devices. Is the Evora enough of an assault on its driver's senses? Derek isn't a fan of the Elise because of the sounds its creaky body and rattly interior make — he loves a great GT. Is the Evora comfortable enough? Luckily, the boys have a clear answer to the question: Lotus Evora or Porsche 911? And then a unanimous decision on the Lotus Eletre, the brand's first SUV: it drives unlike anything else. Jason drove the Eletre as a surprise — without knowing anything about it. A Lotus engineer told the boys it was a 905-hp Eletre R with 3 motors and torque vectoring. Turns out the 905 hp comes from 2 motors, and what Jason felt and described as the most obvious torque-vectoring he's ever felt is actually rear-wheel steering. Whatever the cause, the boys both enjoy the SUV's maneuverability and outrageous speed (Lotus claims 0-60 in under 3 seconds.) Is there a future for Lotus in a heavy-EV world? There shouldn't be. But Jason and Derek feel there is. == The Carmudgeon Show is part of the Hagerty Podcast Network. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Special Guest Sam Smith joins the Curmudgeons in this episode! Not the singer, but the best writer in the automotive business. Sam also has his own podcast on the Hagerty Podcast Network called "Driven To Fail." This inspires Jason to bring up all the times Sam "failed" while at Automobile Magazine. Jason and Sam both started their careers at Automobile Magazine at 2006, working with the brilliant, talented, and wonderful Jean Jennings. And Sam had a rocky start — immediately recognized as one of the best writers in the business, but crashed a lot of cars. There were Camry Dents, tire blowouts in a Mk5 GTI, a crunched Lotus Elise, and a Ford GT spun into a culvert. There exist no photos of those accidents, but Jason does have an old video of his Ann Arbor steep-driveway tire test: a Range Rover Sport on summer tires vs a GMC Acadia on all-seasons versus a Chevy Suburban on winters. The results are amazing.

The Lotus Elise has spent it's entire life being a featherweight superhero, often out-punching much more expensive competition. But can it out-punch Adam's aversion to British cars? And is Steve really considering trading in the Fiat for one? All that this week, along with guest host Auggie as we explore this pint-sized roadster.

In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 53 of owner stories with Paul from the UK. Cars have been a part of Paul's life for ever. Since his mid-teens he has had his eye on Porsche. As a kid he drew a 993 engine and silhouette and sent it to a Dick Lovett - a well know Porsche dealer in the UK. Surprisingly he received a response as well as a stock of books for his passion. From that point onwards Paul was fascinated with Porsche, although it was still out of reach. Paul put his Porsche dreams aside ‘as one day' I will have a Porsche which most of us can relate to. Living in Cheltenham with an abundance of great driving roads this only fuelled Paul's passion, it's no wonder he has owned over 40 cars to date. From his first memorable car a mid-engine Mk1 Toyota MR2 sorted by Litchfield in the UK. A lot of drivers cars followed, including GTI's, Accord Type R, Lotus Elise and many others. Paul engineering background and being a ‘sucker for a special edition” has drawn him to very interesting cars. Today, Paul has come full circle with his first Porsche, a mid-engine well optioned 2015 Porsche 981 Cayman with manual transmission. Paul is also part of Reengineering where with his 2 partners will be leading a group of STEM grads through building a 550 Spyder (kit). This will be a modern interpretation of the '50's 550 with re-engineered parts and a carbon body built to a level that Paul would like to equal Singer. Not your average kit car. Welcome back to the Porsche Cooled Podcast. Follow Paul on Instagram @renngineeringuk Watch and Subscribe on YouTube Michael (@michael.bath) owns a first generation 997 Carrera, comes from Australia and currently resides in Bahrain. Julian Thomson has designed some of the most popular cars seen on the road to date. In his stint as design director for Jaguar, Julian was responsible for overseeing the Jaguar XE, E-Pace, F-Pace, and F-Type, as well as having involvement in some of the Land Rover products too - such as the Range Rover Evoque.Earlier in his career, Julian 'penned' one of the most iconic sports cars globally - the Lotus Elise, a car that very quickly became a design classic and a benchmark for small sports car manufacturers. This week, Julian joins Andy Jaye and John Marcar to talk through some of his career highlights so far and indicate what the future might look like, too, since his departure from JLR.Before diving into the chat, Andy, Amy and John get a little bit distracted in the opening section (recorded, as it often is at Caffeine & Machine), and we open up the opportunity for you, the listener, to get your moans in for a new 'Marcar Moans' episode coming soon! For 25 years, the Lotus Elise has been one of the ultimate driver-focused sports cars available on the market. However, Lotus have announced that the upcoming 240 Final Edition is indeed the final Elise to leave their factory. So what's next for the Elise? Will it be relegated to the pages of history, or will there be other plans given how it's a legend?
Track day at Carolina Motorsports Park! Dom had some issues with Big-O so the Viper and SRT6 were on track duty for the first time. We debate if a C32 AMG would make a decent low budget DTM car or if there are better alternatives. They apparently still make the Lotus Elise and we give our Imola F1 predictions.
In 2021, the final Elise will roll off the production line as Lotus turns its attention to newer models.
