Dr. Kelle DeBoth Foust is one of my best friends; we've been friends for over 15 years. She is an Occupational Therapist and an Associate Professor of OT at Cleveland State University. She has a passion for working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities and today she shares her wealth of knowledge with us.What is Occupational Therapy? No, it has nothing to do with helping people find jobs! Dr. DeBoth Foust describes it as therapy to regain the skills necessary for meaningful activities or occupational roles. This is a skill or activity that you LOVE to do and the foundational skills necessary to help you do it. For kids and young learners, this is commonly play or school participation.Occupational Therapists work frequently with sensory processing disorders and help use sensory integration for regulation. Dr. DeBoth Foust talks about "sensory diets,” which are strict schedules for sensory activities, and how these can sometimes not be very helpful. Working with sensory issues needs to be totally individualized, and teachers need to “be a detective” to see what triggers or helps students. Students should have some choice and be able to self identify how they feel and what they need to regulate. We also discuss a hot topic I love; collaboration. As we are all highly trained in our fields and we want what's best for the learner, collaboration can be tough if we don't fully understand each other's roles. When it comes to BCBAs and OTs collaborating, they can often butt heads because it might feel like OTs are reinforcing problem behaviors with sensory integration. Dr. DeBoth Foust explains it well when she says, "Not every behavior problem is a sensory issue and not every sensory issue is a behavior problem”. Dr. DeBoth Foust and her work focus on increasing engagement and participation in play! You can find out more about her work through CSU or the program PLAAY on the Move.#autism #speectherapyWhat's Inside:What is Occupational Therapy? What school is required to become an OT?Common goals and skills OTs practice. What are sensory processing disorders? What is a sensory diet? What are the barriers to collaboration with BCBAs and OTs?Mentioned In This Episode:PLAAY on the MoveKelle Kathleen DeBoth Foust, PhD, OTR/L

I have a special guest for a special episode. Keith Avallone of Plaay Games sat down with me this week to talk about some of his game designs and his engagement with this hobby of ours. We discuss Second Season, the qualities mechanic, and even the decider die. Hope you'll enjoy!
Today I take a closer look at a recently re-released game. Roller Rumble was one of the original Plaay titles, but was shelved a few years ago as they worked on rebranding it for Plaay Now. It finally returned in Fall 2022, and I'll discuss what you get with the game, and my initial thoughts on it. Also, I recap a recent event from my Tabletop where I replayed the 1st ever Royal Rumble from 1988. It's a rumbled themed show for #99!
Grab a racket and head over to the courts! Today I'm giving an overview of the latest Plaay game: Let's Plaay Tennis. This was only offered during the holiday sale, so hopefully you were able to grab a copy. We'll talk about the toolbox approach to this latest release and how some of the game mechanics work.
In today's episode we shift away from agile and discuss a Lean Methodology concept, Work In Progress. Like so many others I have had a project going for every game on my shelf. Over the past year I've worked on several strategies to limit how many 'active' projects I have. In this episode I'll discuss some of the more recent strategies I've implemented to help control work in progress. We'll also do a tabletop recap and discuss the holiday sale at Plaay.
This past weekend I attended the Hoops in Hartford event hosted by Plaay Games. It was a great opportunity to play some History Maker Baseball Express, the full game of Highlight Maker Hoops (full game version), chat with some fellow Plaay gamers, hear directly from Keith and Sam, and also play some other titles. This episode is my recap of that event.
Today we take a look at the newest title from Plaay Games: History Maker Baseball Express! I'll discuss some of my experiences playing the game and how I see it fitting in with the rest of the Plaay Game catalog. Also - a special announcement regarding a fundraiser I will be running next week and highlighting a project completed by Cooper Gilbert!
Just returned from the annual Plaay convention and wanted to share my thoughts on the weekend in a nice Top 10 list.
With less than 2 weeks to go, I decided to dedicate today's episode to previewing Plaay-Dot-Con. We will run down the activity list and what to expect.
This week we focus on the return of a fan favorite Cooperative event hosted by Paul Salzgeber, the Plaay Tour, which is now in it's 3rd season. We'll examine what makes the Plaay Tour such a successful event and how we can use that formula with other games. I also discuss a new approach to wrestling federations with a project I kicked off this week.
I recently picked up the special edition set for Baseball America from Plaay Games. With Plaay already announcing a second 'trading card' set for Highlight Maker Hoops, I wanted to talk about what these products are like and what this means for the tabletop sports community.
Today I give my first thoughts on Highlight Maker Hoops, a game that has quickly inserted itself into my tabletop playlist.
In today's episode I will talk about my experiences with Heroes & Heels: Dodgeball by Plaay Games. This was a special holiday release, but is expected to be released in hard copy later this year. In my current project, I've had a chance to see the game in more detail and what it offers in terms of a capsulated gaming experience.
In today's episode I take a look at a personal favorite: RWBR by Plaay Games. I'll go over the game mechanics and discuss a little of how the narrative plays out during a race. Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/tabletopsportcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TabletopSportCast
A bit of a hodgepodge this week as I recap my Demo Derby Smashdown project briefly, and then talk about some other things, like stat-keeping, the new Hoops game from Plaay, co-op projects, and the advantages of PDFs for both the small business owner, and us as consumers. ABOUT FOOTBALL IS FAMILY Do you bleed your favorite football team's colors each weekend? Does the difference of a W or L in the box score dictate how you respond for the rest of the week? Or do most of your conversations with your family and friends revolve around your favorite football team? If you answered yes to any (or maybe all) of these questions, then you are in the right place. The host of this podcast truly believes that “Football Is Family” and he is on a mission to share the stories of other fans out there sharing how they have been touched by the greatest sport on Earth. Listen below to the trailer and learn more about the host and show. HOST - JEREMY MCFARLIN Growing up in Middle Tennessee, I didn't have a pro football team that was close enough to me to feel a part of. My first memory of pro football was Super Bowl 22. I picked the Broncos to win, and, even though they didn't win, I followed them from that point on. John Elway was (and is) my favorite player. I have played as the Broncos on Tecmo Bowl, Tecmo Bowl Super Bowl, Madden, and 2K Sports. I fondly remember the moments when the Broncos won Super Bowls 32 and 33. Around this time, the Oilers came to Tennessee. I was hooked. I finally had a team just down the road from my hometown of Bon Aqua. Oiler (and later Titans) mania hit this area. Jerseys, hats, footballs, merchandise, and several autographs later, I'm a Titans fan through and through. It's the dedication, the love, and the passion for football that helps me realize that football is family. Each fan base has a story, a history, and a love for their team. That's what I want to talk about each and every podcast. You can follow me https://twitter.com/jeremy_mcfarlin (@jeremy_mcfarlin). Message me if you want to share your reasons why your football team is family. Support this podcast

The Rouge White & Blue Podcast sees the end of the 2021 CFL season in sight (sadly) as week 13 goes into the books as a relatively unenlightening slate of games if taken individually but drastically clearing up the playoff picture. No, RWB co-hosts Joe Pritchard and Os Davis can't stop talking about the glory of Plaay tabletop gaming, but they manage to keep it to a minimum in assessing the postseason chances of teams like the Calgary Stampeders (looking good) and the Montreal Alouettes (of which the same cannot be said). The RWB then takes a look ahead to week 14, with Joe offering up a very salient tip for would-be CFL bettors about seemingly disrespectful point spreads…. On this episode of the Rouge White & Blue podcast, things begin with a diversion into CFL past, specifically co-host Joe Prtichard's current task in recreating the 1982 and '86 CFL seasons for the Plaay.com tabletop format. Fellow tabletop enthusiast, sports history junkie and RWB co-host geeks out with Joe on the intricacies of sports board gaming before snapping back to the realities of the 2021 CFL season… …namely, the same old/same old focus of '21, those evermore unstoppable-seeming Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Also: Is the CFL experiencing a crisis of offensive line talent? Finally, because the RWB can't go to the well of masochism that is playing CFL Pick ‘Em often enough, Joe and Os attempt to choose winners in the five(!) week 10 games… The Rouge White & Blue CFL Podcast: Just shut up and pick the Bombers…
In the past week, Al Wilson's Fast Drive Football tabletop board game has electrified the gridiron gaming community. Playing in about 15 to 20 minutes per game, FDF is more word-based than numbers driven — with team cards using descriptive words like "prolific" (1969 Vikings offense), "inept," "meek" and "undisciplined" (1976 Buccaneers). Derived from Plaay's mechanics, FDF simulates games drive by drive, true to its name. It's easily one of the most exciting additions to tabletop football gaming. Community luminaries like Dave Gardner, Jason Graham and Steve Tower have already posted numerous videos documenting game play. Al's FDF Facebook group is at 151 members as of posting this video. Folks are already creating custom charts to allocate touchdowns to specific players; they're clamoring for season sets; they're rolling games with their wives. Al provides the game free; simply download the game "boards" and season sets and follow his instructions for having them printed at the service provider of your choice. Currently available seasons are 1960, 1966, 1969, 1972, 1976, 1981, 1990, 1995, 2001, 2010 and 2020; 1985 and 1998 are to be added soon, per Al's survey of players' preferences. The Rouge, White & Blue Podcast presents something of a minimalist edition of itself this week, as everything CFL seems stuck in past or future: The collective bargaining agreement is behind us, the first preseason game of 2019 is ahead – and so we're stuck in the middle with sports gaming. And so the RWB welcomes back to the show Keith AVallone, the creative mastermind behind Plaay.com tabletop sports games. RWB co-host Joe Pritchard is just about the world's most devoted tabletop gamer and essentially geeks out with Keith about creating games for such diverse sports as CFL football, hockey and lacrosse. Plus, Keith tells how Ricky Ray's Grey Cup-winning season of 2012 just about broke his system for football game creation.
