La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Reading is delivered by Andi Situmorang and meditation is delivered by Rina Rustiyawati from Saint Peter's School in Jakarta, Indonesia. 1 Timothy 1: 1-2.12-14; Mazmur tg 16: 1.2a.5.7-8.11; Luke 6: 39-42 THE PURPOSE JUSTIFIES THE WAY The theme for our meditation today is: The Purpose Justifies the Way. Just a few days ago there was a breaking news in Latin America. Pre-World Cup football match between two major national clubs had to be stopped when the game had only been running for about five minutes. The health authorities in the country where the match was being held asked that the match could not be continued, because several players from the visiting team were found to have submitted false data regarding their situation of being free from the Corona virus. Regulations in that country must still be followed because all activities planned and to be implemented must comply with health protocols, when the Corona virus outbreak is still threatening the entire country. We can clearly see that all the players and spectators were very disappointed. They were already waiting for the peak moment to watch the football match between the two countries. This happened so because of the actions of a few persons which were the players. What was done was they justified the means for the purpose of participating in football which is the biggest sport in Latin America. The human tendency to use or pursue any means to achieve a goal is a common practice. The motivation is that they want to avoid obstacles or difficulties, so they use their own way. On the other hand, we should respect truth and common sense, in always use the right or appropriate means to achieve the desired goal. The Word of God today teaches us to always obey the rules that we always agree on, namely the goal should not justify all ways, or there must be certain agreed and determined way we use to achieve the desired goal. The Lord Jesus emphasized that the way the blind guides the blind will not achieve the goal intended. The way a student achieves his goal by not following or imitating his teacher is not the right way. Hypocrisy in solving problems by only blaming others and without correcting oneself, is an incorrect attitude. Likewise, Saint Paul teaches us through his first letter to Timothy, truly convinced for himself, that the appropriate and true way was to choose to carry out God's will for him. He regretted having chosen the wrong way in his past but then he had successfully repented. Saint Paul completed his mission from God by preaching the gospel, until the end of his life. We should also complete our duty and calling in this world by following the way of the Lord Jesus Christ. Whoever does not use the path or method that God wills, he will go astray and will not reach his destination. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O God of mercy, strengthen us so that we do not get lost in the way of our lives, but always follow Your sure path to reach salvation. Hail Mary full of grace... In the name of the Father... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/media-la-porta/message
