South American nations Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay would host matches as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the tournament. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is expected to be named the host of the 2034 World Cup which would come just 12 years after Qatar. Today is a day to remember a friend and a key figure in American soccer. Yesterday was the two year anniversary of the passing of Grant Wahl. The American soccer journalist died while covering the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar suffering a heart aneurysm while attending Argentina's win over the Netherlands. He was 49 years old. Grant's impact on the game is still being felt to this very day as more than two decades as one of the premiere journalists in this sport. Early goals from Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljić were just enough to ward off RBNY's attempt at a comeback. Sean Nealis did score for the losing side in the 28' but the match became a stalemate the rest of the way. The Galaxy overcame the injury loss of Riqui Puig and came out firing on all engines scoring both of their goals in the first within 13 minutes. This is the 6th MLS Cup title for the L.A. Galaxy, easily the most storied franchise in MLS history. In officiating news, we've all gotten used to the three magic letters VAR. Now, we can say hello to FVS. That stands for Football Video Support. It's an alternative to VAR that will allow managers to make two coaches challenges during matches. The International Football Association Board has approved expanding trials of FVS which is designed to be used in the event of a possible clear and obvious error or serious missed incident. Coaches will get two per match and will get to keep one if a challenge leads to an overturned decision. Mo Salah's future with his club Liverpool has become a major storyline this season. The Egyptian star is in the final year of his contract and after recently revealing that he hasn't heard from Liverpool in regard to his said future, he is still open to staying at Anfield. According to multiple reports, Salah is willing to sign a one-year contract extension to prolong his stay at Liverpool. Although, the reports indicate he is growing increasingly frustrated with the club's handling of negotiations. And now, Salah has his name in the mix when it comes to the transfer rumor mill including being linked to PSG.
