He said to look out for the Tigers and Diamondbacks as well. Bob said it may be smarter to hold onto Hayes in the offseason. Bob said it's a shame that Paul Skenes has a losing record and wondered if he can be the first Cy Young winner to pull it off. Bob added that he thinks Zach Wheeler deserves to be the front-runner in the NL Cy Young vote and should be the starter in the All Star Game.
Noah Hiles made some waves yesterday with his mailbag answer about Paul Skenes. He made even more last night on-air when he told Donny that Skenes' best contribution to the Pirates would be the return they get for him in a trade. There also may be a report out there that Ben Cherington has a deal signed through 2028, which would be horrible. We got more clarification on the Ben Cherington contract situation, but found that Neal Huntington and Clint Hurdle were both let go with 2 years remaining on their deals following the 2019 season. Former MLB Pitcher Josh Towers and Scott Seidenberg talk about the latest news in Major League Baseball with a look ahead to Best Bets in the market. The July 7 episode of The Inside Pitch with Scott Seidenberg and Josh Towers centered on the midseason shakeups in MLB, notably the firing of Nationals manager Davey Martinez and GM Mike Rizzo. Martinez's quote deflecting blame from coaches—“It's never on coaching”—was harshly criticized by Towers, who emphasized the crucial role of coaching in player development. This led to a broader discussion on leadership accountability and the challenges of managing a young roster with high expectations. The hosts evaluated the Nationals' outlook following the firings. With a 37–53 record and 72 games remaining, Seidenberg questioned the team's ability to reach their 68.5 win total, citing the fifth-toughest remaining schedule and looming trade possibilities. Towers countered that the team has foundational talent like Gore and Wood but agreed the over/under is razor-thin. They discussed interim manager Miguel Cairo and speculated on potential trade departures such as Josh Bell, Jake Irvin, and Mike Soroka, though Skenes and McCutcheon were deemed untouchable. The All-Star roster reveal sparked debates on snubs and systemic bias. Towers pointed out how dominant middle relievers like Drew Pomeranz get overlooked despite elite performance. They applauded the Home Run Derby format and early participants (Acuña, Wood, Cal Raleigh), with Seidenberg already looking to handicap the bracket once the field is announced. Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber have opted out, and the hosts emphasized the edge held by experienced derby hitters. The conversation shifted to awards betting. Joe Espada's odds for AL Manager of the Year dropped from 50:1 to 38:1 after Seidenberg's tip, bolstered by Houston's 55–35 record and 15 players on the IL. Towers praised their 32–14 home record and resilience without stars like Yordan Alvarez. They questioned why AJ Hinch remains a heavy favorite despite similar adversity being handled better in Houston. Pitching excellence featured heavily. Zach Wheeler's near-perfect game—12 Ks, no walks, 108 pitches—was dissected play-by-play. Towers highlighted his sequencing: late fastballs inside followed by slow curves to disrupt timing, calling it a clinic in in-out, soft-hard pitch selection. Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes were also celebrated for dominance and control. Skubal's K/BB ratio and Skenes' consistency paralleled deGrom's early Mets years, where low run support undermined elite outings. The Pirates became the first MLB team to record back-to-back three-game shutout sweeps both for and against—a historic anomaly. This led to a broader debate on whether the Pirates should trade Skenes. Towers warned doing so would cause fan revolt and questioned the club's long-term willingness to build around him. Comparisons were made to past wasted rotations including Cole, Liriano, and Burnett. Power rankings closed the show. Tigers ranked first for Towers, followed by Astros and Dodgers. Seidenberg backed the Astros' form and praised DeGrom's consistency, calling first-five bets with him and Skenes reliable. Strikeout prop strategies were discussed, with Sanchez's seven-game quality start streak singled out. Finally, the hosts previewed the coming All-Star Break special, which will feature full Home Run Derby betting breakdowns, midseason awards, and second-half predictions. The Sixers draft VJ Edgecombe out of Baylor University with the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. He has some great tools and a very athletic style of play and will likely slide right into the Guard rotation. The question remains however, if the Sixers can make it out of the 2nd Round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Joel Embiid and Paul George will be one year older, and the skepticism over their ability to stay healthy enough to play even 50 games total together remains. The Phillies were swept in Houston while the pitching staff allowed just 5 runs combined. Suarez, Wheeler, and Sanchez were masterful, but the offense was in hibernation. With the trade deadline looming, Tek & Prem discuss the possible scenarios with key prospects and potential trade pieces on the active roster. A weekend series in Atlanta against the Braves, who are heating up, will provide more clarity regarding the Phillies recent offensive slumber. The Flyers add a young player with a lot of upside in a pre-draft trade and the NHL Draft is on deck. Tek & Prem welcome The Philly Quizmaster and co-owner of Shibe Vintage Sports, Johnny Goodtimes, on the VetLine to talk Birds, Sixers, and his unique Kobe Bryant meeting. The Eagles Preseason is less than 2 months away, and minicamps have been very interesting. With an infusion of youth and energy, the Super Bowl Champs are close to beginning their march towards a repeat Lombardi Trophy in the 2025 NFL Season. Jalen Hurts seems to have galvanized his doubters, who are out at an all-time high, but as we discuss, that may serve to blow up in all of their faces. Another dinner with Michael Jordan before a Super Bowl could be on the horizon. The Phillies will only compete for a World Series if some drastic moves are made at the trade deadline, and it remains to be seen if the Front Office shares that sentiment, with the All-Star Break just a month away. Tek & Prem discuss the Eagles first OTAs of the offseason, with position battles looming and a fresh energy in the air. The Draft Class is strong, yet again, and the veterans are in place as the Birds prepare for a run at a repeat Super Bowl Championship. The Jalen Hurts doubters have multiplied, once again, and the Jordan-Brand representative has another year ahead of him proving them all wrong. Training Camp is around the corner. The Phillies boast the best winning percentage in the National League as they get set for a trio of games against the Brewers at the Bank this weekend. After taking 2 of 3 from the Braves at home this week, they will look to stay on track against an underachieving, .500 Milwaukee ball club. Kyle Schwarber continues his torrid pace of power, sitting tied for 2nd in MLB with 19 HR. Trea has come on strong in May, hitting .302 overall, which is good for 13th in baseball. Pitching will continue to lead the way, and with the trade deadline approaching in July, moves or a big move is expected to bolster this beleaguered and inconsistent bullpen. Former MLB Pitcher Josh Towers and Scott Seidenberg break down the MLB slate of games for Memorial Day This special Memorial Day episode of The Inside Pitch features Scott Seidenberg and former MLB pitcher Josh Towers providing a comprehensive breakdown of the upcoming Monday baseball slate. The podcast focuses on travel dynamics, pitcher performances, betting angles, and how team momentum and logistics influence game outcomes. Central to the discussion is the “Sunday Night Fade”—a strategy of betting against teams that play Sunday night games and must travel before playing again on Monday. Scott cites a 6-1 record with this approach, spotlighting the Dodgers' travel from New York to Cleveland. Josh outlines how travel delays, postgame treatment, and media responsibilities—especially for players like Shohei Otani—can exhaust players, making them vulnerable in early Monday games. Josh and Scott discuss Otani's homer against Kodai Senga, noting it was the first Senga allowed since Opening Day. They analyze the Dodgers-Guardians matchup: Gavin Williams has a strong home record (3-1, 3.40 ERA), but struggles at night (5.09 ERA), while Yamamoto has a 1.00 ERA overall and has not yet pitched in a day game. Despite Yamamoto's strength, Josh is cautious, citing fatigue from travel as a factor. In Mets vs. White Sox, the Mets are favored. Hauser is unreliable (5.00 ERA in the minors), and the White Sox are 5-21 on the road. Clay Holmes has been strong for the Mets but is nearing workload limits. The duo leans Mets on the run line. Tarek Skubal's dominant performance (13 Ks in a 9-inning shutout) leads into Tigers-Giants. Keiter Montero's poor control (13 BB in 30 IP) makes backing the Giants appealing despite Hayden Birdsong's inexperience. Red Sox-Brewers is another key game. Boston's offense has faltered without Bregman, while Crochet has been elite. Chad Patrick has been solid at home. Josh and Scott prefer a first-five under wager, given offensive struggles. Cubs vs. Rockies is heavily skewed toward the Cubs, with Palmquist's disastrous starts (9 ER in 8 IP, 7 BB) making a run-line play likely. Eric Fedde (Cardinals) is steady, while Charlie Morton (Orioles) has had a volatile season. Despite recent rebound, Morton's early performances were poor, and the line favoring Baltimore is puzzling. In Rangers vs. Blue Jays, both deGrom and Gausman are top-tier arms. Toronto has scored just two runs in three games, and Texas' offense is struggling. Josh and Scott prefer the under, particularly a no-run first inning (Nerf-y) play. Royals vs. Reds also presents a Nerf-y opportunity: Lorenzen is 10-0 to the Nerf-y, and Chris Booback has a 1.45 ERA with 70 Ks in 68 innings. In Rays vs. Twins, Josh praises Tampa's momentum, especially with lineup depth like Chandler Simpson batting seventh. Paddock's 5.19 road ERA and vulnerability in early innings make Tampa appealing. However, Scott warns of fading the Rays later due to a back-loaded road-heavy schedule. Pirates-Diamondbacks features Heaney (8-2 Nerf-y) vs. Ryan Nelson, whose inconsistency and starter-reliever toggling limit trust. Another Nerf-y opportunity is noted. Padres-Marlins showcases Vasquez's steady performances against Weathers, who's shown flashes but is prone to walks and home runs. Yankees vs. Angels sees Yarbrough returning to form, while Kocanowicz has erratic command (20+ walks in 5 starts). Josh recommends betting Yankees and possibly on Kocanowicz's walk prop. The discussion shifts to the mound in Sacramento. Zach Wheeler complained about mound hardness affecting pitch delivery. Scott theorizes high elevation in pitches might stem from poor footing. Josh stresses that pros must adjust, though he criticizes coaches like Minnesota's, who lack firsthand pitching experience and can't offer adjustment strategies. The show ends with a promo code "DAY20" for 20% off at pregame.com and a reminder to enjoy the holiday with plenty of daytime baseball and solid betting opportunities. Tek & Prem dive into the Eagles 2025 NFL Schedule and take a look at the matchups and anomalies of it. The Birds are clearly an elite unit poised to push hard for a Super Bowl repeat, but they will have to do it through a gauntlet of a schedule this season. They play 10 games against 2024 Playoff teams and do not have one back-to-back at home. While there are no international games to travel for, thankfully, there are a slew of games on days other than Sunday and very challenging teams successively, at multiple points. So goes the nature of the NFL. Their leaders will carry them. The Phillies are back in action tonight at the Bank, coming off their first home series loss since last July. The rotation is elite and the bullpen is coming into form, but Bryce Harper is still yet to find his stroke at the dish. The supporting cast has helped lead them to a .581 win percentage thus far, 4th in the NL. The Pirates come in this weekend for 3 games, and although they are not a good team, they are a pesky squad with a knack for close contests. Tek & Prem are joined on the VetLine by Breland Moore of Fox 29 Philadelphia to recap the Eagles incoming Draft Picks and talk Phils. Another solid group of young players are set to join the roster, in what amounts to a run to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. The road is never easy while attempting that task, historically. The Birds' defense recieved a boost of young talent and the offense remains largely in tact as we head into training camp. Howie may make additional moves and we discuss those possibilities, namely, adding a veteran or star in the secondary. A trip to the White House has come and gone, and left the fanbase somewhat divided over who did and did not attend the reception. While there shouldn't be any lingering effects in the lockerroom, the extreme views each side maintains run very deep. The Phillies finish April with a winning record as the power is coming around and they cap off another series win, this time against Division-rival Washington. The dreaded Diamondbacks come in to the Bank this weekend for a trio of tough games. The memory of 2023 lingers. An early season test as we enter the month of May approaches for the Fightins. Tek & Prem discuss the incoming 2025 Eagles, with two likely defensive starters added in the 1st two rounds of the NFL Draft, Campbell from 'Bama and Mukuba from Texas. Both players figure to be key contributors in the coming seasons, a true Super Bowl window for the Birds. Howie and the front office made timely trades to jump around the draft order, and added a solid DT from Nebraska, Ty Robinson. With the losses of Williams, Sweat, and Gardner-Johnson in free agency, these are all logical picks, and also picks made from value spots in the Draft. Vic Fangio's system is phenomenal with the right pieces in place, and this haul reinforced the roster nicely on the defensive side of the ball. The Phillies have stumbled after a nice start and are floating around .500, one game over. With the season still only in April, there is no need to panic. The Phillies get the split with Giants, and look ahead to a weekend set with the Marlins. There are high expectations for this club, coming off of three straight postseason appearances including one pennant. Still in the infancy stages of the 2025 season, the usual up and down performance from this group has continued to rear it's ugly head, yet they are presently neck and neck with the Mets for the NL East lead. The Phils are looking for back-to-back Division Flags. But it won't be easy. The questions in the outfield remain relevant and frequent. The revolving door of players seems to be on track to repeat itself again this offseason, regardless of the result. A major question is how the team will deploy some of their hot young prospects into the majors later in the year. The Eagles are 6 days away from the NFL Draft with a lot of capital and options, for a team that is still loaded despite the loss of some solid defenders. Howie Roseman could go quite a few ways in the 1st Round, including moving up to get a true impact player. The defending Super Bowl Champions have an open window to repeat the feat. Word of the Day: Mistake (0:00-8:50) Tyrone and Ricky are FURIOUS after the Rojas blunder last night that eventually led to the Phillies losing the first game of the Braves series. (8:55-17:45) Ricky is concerned with Zach Wheeler and his pitching. Should Rojas be benched after his blunder last night against the Braves? (17:50-27:50) Rojas is now public enemy number 1. What is next for Rojas? (28:00-37:20) We should blame…Topper?!?! Tyrone says the Rojas blunder is 100% his own fault. There is nobody else to blame. Word of the Day: Mistakes (0:00-13:40) Tyrone and Ricky discuss the standards set for Zach Wheeler as opposed to other stars on the Phillies. (13:45-20:20) Tyrone believes there was a chain reaction of events that caused the Braves to steal momentum back from the Phillies last night. (20:25-32:40) Tyrone says if the Braves make the postseason, they can thank Johan Rojas. (32:50-41:50) Tyrone once again emphasizes the importance of beating the Braves in the next 2 games. The Phillies are 5-1 out the gates and host the World Series Champion Dodgers this weekend for three at The Bank. A great early litmus test for this group, they are 7-3 in their last 10 against LA, including wins in 6 of their last 7 contests. Early on, the lineup is quiet against starting pitchers while raking against relief pitchers. To beat the Dodgers, the Phils will have to change that narrative. There have been contributions from the bottom of the order with Sosa and Rojas, and the new addition, Max Kepler, has began his Phillies career in solid fashion. The marathon of the MLB Season is underway as the VetPhact and Prem's MLB Picks returns, with three Moneyline Locks for this Friday's games. Word of the Day: Plan (0:00-14:25) Tyrone says the Phillies nee0:00-d to take advantage of the Braves skid early in the season and continue to rattle off wins. (14:30-21:50) Jayson Stark returns to chat Phillies, Zach Wheeler stardom and the bullpen. (22:00-34:30) Tyrone and Ricky say Rob Thomson cannot be denied for his management skills and decision making. Jason & Kylie welcome their 4th child. (34:40-44:10) Return to the Twitter poll. Word of the Day: Irrational (0-00-9:30) Tyrone encourages fans and viewers to let loose and give their craziest and most irrational takes on the Phillies and Flyers. (9:40-16:40) Tyrone applauds Zach Wheeler for his consistency and professionalism. Twitter poll: Whose performance surprised you the most yesterday with the Phillies? (16:45-28:35) Tyrone and Ricky embrace the crazy; Tyrone wants everyone to get their emotions out so they can lock in for a long season. Tek & Prem welcome Phillies Reporter for The Inquirer, Scott Lauber, on the VetLine to talk Phils. The MLB season is less than one week away, as the Fightins prepare to travel to DC to take on the Nationals for a 3-game series to start the 2025 campaign. The Phils starting pitching is still among the league's best, adding Luzardo to that mix, and the lineup may be shook up a bit as the Phils try again with this core, to win a World Series Trophy for the first time since 2008. Eagles offseason talk continues as the Draft approaches in April. Howie Roseman has a ton of Draft capital and has added some good low risk-high reward 1-year contracts to young defenders with a lot to prove. There will be some good competition in camp for key spots, but the core remains at every level of the defense with an offense still boasting the same stars. The defending Super Bowl Champions are 6 weeks removed from the big game, but the excitement for their trajectory should be just as strong as it was on Feb 10. Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner talk MLB betting for the new upcoming season. The MLB Season Preview Podcast, hosted by Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner, covers key storylines, stat leader predictions, and awards markets for the 2025 MLB season. The episode begins with a recap of the Dodgers' 4-1 victory over the Cubs in the Tokyo Series, marking the official season opener. Munaf and Griffin discuss Yankees' ace Gerrit Cole missing the season due to Tommy John surgery, making Max Fried's signing more valuable. Griffin speculates on the Yankees potentially trading for Sandy Alcantara to reinforce their rotation. The hosts analyze the strikeout leader market, with Griffin emphasizing the importance of volume and durability. Paul Skenes is the favorite but may face inning limits. Zach Wheeler (20-1) emerges as a strong contender due to his fastball velocity and workload. Munaf highlights Garrett Crochet (+750) as a breakout candidate for the Red Sox, though Griffin expresses caution. Luis Castillo (66-1) and Robbie Ray (40-1) are considered longshots. For saves leader, Emmanuel Clase (7-1) is a top contender, given the Guardians' ability to play close games. Josh Hader (10-1) intrigues Munaf as Houston's full-time closer. Mason Miller (14-1) could be a trade target, while Tanner Scott (33-1) is dismissed due to the Dodgers' bullpen committee. The wins leader discussion highlights Zach Wheeler (10-1) and Tariq Skubal (10-1) as co-favorites. Munaf considers Blake Snell (22-1) as a workhorse for the Dodgers and suggests Hunter Brown (50-1) as a potential ace for Houston. Griffin sees Logan Gilbert and George Kirby (50-1) as interesting options in the Mariners' rotation. For home run leader, Aaron Judge (4-1) and Shohei Ohtani (6-1) top the odds. Griffin questions Fernando Tatis Jr. (20-1) being highly rated despite inconsistency. Munaf backs Juan Soto (28-1), believing he will thrive in New York. Gunnar Henderson, Jose Ramirez (40-1), and Rafael Devers (55-1) are mentioned as longshots. The Cy Young discussion features Paul Skenes (3-1) as a favorite, but Griffin warns of injury risk. He sees Zach Wheeler and Corbin Burnes (12-1) as strong candidates. Munaf takes a longshot bet on Walker Buehler (90-1), citing his strong postseason form and fresh start in Boston. For MVP, Ohtani (+170) and Judge (+310) lead the markets. Griffin highlights Ronald Acuña Jr. (16-1) but is concerned about his injury history. Munaf supports Juan Soto (5-1) for his elite plate discipline in New York. Griffin also likes Jackson Chourio (33-1) as an emerging star for Milwaukee. In the AL MVP race, Griffin prefers Jose Ramirez (16-1) and Julio Rodríguez (20-1), citing J-Rod's injury-affected 2024 season. Munaf backs Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (17-1), believing he is playing for a major contract. The episode concludes with best bets: Griffin selects Emmanuel Clase (6-1) as AL saves leader, while Munaf picks Walker Buehler (90-1) to win AL Cy Young. Tek & Prem discuss the first wave of free agency and some of the Eagles arrivals and departures. With tons of draft capital, the message from Howie to the fanbase to 'be patient' makes sense, and the front office has earned our trust coming off their Super Bowl blowout. The secondary will look very different, but Vic Fangio has studs at every level of his defense on the roster who are here to stay. Howie's approach of signing players to value deals with a low risk-high reward modus operandi has worked in the past with guys like Baun and Becton, and Eagles fans should expect the same again with the new additions. As March wraps up and the focus shifts to the draft, the Eagles flexibility and plethora of picks will be the key factor in how this offseason is viewed. The Phillies are tearing the cover off the ball this Spring and will start regular season play in less than two weeks time in DC. The shuffled lineup could mean more early run production and this rotation should be one of MLB's best yet again. The clock is ticking for this group.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
Tek & Prem discuss the upcoming NFL Free Agency period and the expected performance of defending Super Bowl Champion General Manager Howie Roseman. With Zach Baun locked up to a deal and 10 of 11 offensive starters under contract, the outlook is exciting for a team poised to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. Defensively there is flexibility to bring an edge rusher and a cornerback in, after the release of Darius Slay and likely departure of Josh Sweat. Next week as the period gets underway, all Philly fans' eyes will be locked upon the breaking news banner, anticipating the next Howie move that improves this team even further. The Phillies are underway in Clearwater and baseball is around the corner. Can this group transcend their previous limitations and compete with the Dodgers for the NL Crown? The pitching is capable but the question remains if the bats will be loud or quiet in October. In what could be the last hurrah for this team in it's current form, a World Series Championship is the expectation.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)

Tek & Prem welcome John Barchard back on the VetLine to talk Birds. As they head to DC on a franchise-record winning streak, Super Bowl expectations abound. The defense is young, fast, and plays smart ball. Vic Fangio is clearly in control of this unit. Jalen Hurts continues to win and win as does Nick Sirianni. With the Commanders in their path this Sunday, the Eagles will look for the season sweep over the NFC's present 7th seed. Ironically, if the season ended today, the Wild Card game at the Linc would be against these same Commanders. The drama around AJ Brown was overblown and the media again takes the L. AJ and Jalen are quite alright. All sights are set on a trip to New Orleans and the team's 4th Conference Title this century. The Phillies have been underwhelming so far this offseason, and the signing of OF Max Kepler doesn't change that. They continue to fall behind in the race for NL supremacy and the question remains: Can this core get it done in October as constructed? Segments include: VetLine, VetPhact, Prem's NFL Picks.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
