Another week, another Craft Brewed Sports episode loaded with NFL chaos, college football drama, and just enough random weirdness to keep things interesting
The Los Angeles Dodgers had a lead against the NL East champion Phillies, but Jack Dreyer had an uncharacteristically bad night and Alex Vesia did, too, both allowing go-ahead home runs in the late innings. Mookie Betts had two sacrifice flies and a game-tying homer, and Andy Pages had a huge game-tying homer off Philly closer Jhoan Duran in the bottom of the ninth, but LA was unable to push across a run in the bottom of the 10th and dropped the game. The loss probably ends the Dodgers' chances of avoiding the Wild Card round of the playoffs, so now they're mostly playing to win the NL West. Tube in all season long! Mookie talks about Teoscar's 2-HR night, his own hot streak at the plate, and the strong starting pitching setting the tone for the team.

Tyler Glasnow was dominant for the Los Angeles Dodgers, throwing seven no-hit innings to earn the victory over the Rockies. He was in position for the win because Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Shohei Ohtani came through with big hits when they needed them. And for the second time in the last three days, LA carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning, this time a combined effort that ended when Tanner Scott allowed a leadoff double in the ninth. Jeff Snider and Clint Pasillas are here to talk about all of it, including whether Scott should have been in the game at all. Tube in all season long! Diamondbacks' star shortstop Geraldo Perdomo joins Mookie to talk about the art of turning a double play, tips at playing SS, their reaction to Kyle Schwarber's 4-HR game and whether Mookie swings for the fences when he gets to 3 HRs in one game. They also share stories from early in their career where Mookie explains why he wanted to be sent down after joining the 2014 Red Sox and Perdomo's rivalry with Madison Bumgarner. Finally, the two MLB stars test their umpire skills with a friendly competition of calling balls and strikes. Watch new episode of On Base with Mookie Betts. Learn more about your ad choices. It's another week of Asians in Baseball, and is it just us, or is it bright in here with all these STARS?!First, Team Taiwan and Lin Chin-Tse win the Little League World Series! Saweetie, V, and Sonny throw out the first pitch (in separate games, but wouldn't that be sick if it was the same one!) And a very special listener recap from Brian Nguyen on his time at Ichiro's number retirement. Then, in position players: Anthony Volpe is still trying to get out of his slump, we've got hit streaks on hit streaks, Jahmai Jones emerges as a candidate for Team Korea, Mookie is impressed by the Grandson of the Wind, and Steven Kwan is the first player featured in MLB's new Youtube series No Easy Outs.In pitching, Mets #4 prospect Jonah Tong is called up to The Show, Shinnosuke Ogasawara gets the "diminutive Asian" treatment (he's 5' 11" and 205 lbs btw), Naomi argues a strong case for Bryan Woo winning the Cy Young, Yu Darvish holds a masterclass on the Art of Pitching, and Riley O'Brien is soaring. Finally, Ohtani continues to prove his status as the GOAT: going on an offensive tear vs. the Angels when the rest of the Dodgers can't buy a hit, taking a liner off the thigh and staying in the game, and making friends with a Padres heckler who can't help but love the guy. The Los Angeles Dodgers sat on top of the NL West with a nine game cushion, on July 3rd, and looked ready to run away with the division. Not even a month and a half later they've fallen out of first place after going 12-21 in that timespan. In the same timespan, the San Diego Padres have gone 23-12 and taken sole possession of first place in the NL West. All of this leads up to back-to-back weekend series between the two teams. First up, it's the Dodgers turn to play host. Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Dodgers' slide and everything that led up to it. They also discuss where the Padres are right now and how they see the rest of the season playing out for both teams.Later in the show, a star from the Dodgers joins Jake and Jordan as they chat with Mookie Betts! They chat about Mookie's career in podcasting, what it has been like being a part of the Dodgers, the struggles of both the team and himself this season and how impressive it is to watch Shohei Ohtani pitch and hit.The guys wrap up the show with some distraught, but funny, mentions that plagued the Minnesota Twins' socials coming on the heels of the announcement that the team was not being sold. To finish, Jake and Jordan share this week's edition of The Good, The Bad and The Uggla. The Milwaukee Brewers come through for free burgers, a Bob has returned to Major League Baseball, betting on children's baseball is discouraged and more! All of this and more to close out your week on Baseball Bar-B-Cast. Future Hall of Famers Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer faced off on the Dodger Stadium mound on Friday night, and 37-year-old Kershaw outdueled 41-year-old Scherzer. Both went six innings, but Kersh was slightly more effective and left with a 2-1 lead thanks to a two-run homer from Mookie Betts, who recently got some help in the batting cage from old friend JD Martinez. The Dodgers added three more runs in the seventh inning, and the bullpen held the lead. Join Jeff Snider and Kevin Skinner to talk all about it! Tube in all season long! College football is inching closer to a collective bargaining model. And with it comes big changes: transfer limits, regulated agents, and incentive-based contracts. But will that just bring back the bag men? We break it down. The NFL sold NFL Media, including NFL Network and RedZone, to ESPN in exchange for equity. But there's one problem…Trump could still block the deal. Plus: • MLB's “Speedway Classic” in Bristol was a total disaster. Think Fyre Fest, but with bunless hot dogs and no cheese for nachos. • A Portland Pickles “fan” hits a home run and the internet smells a work. • Brewers manager Pat Murphy keeps pancakes and pizza slices in his pants. • The WNBA has a dildo problem and we're officially in weird territory. • Ohio wants to kill prop bets. • Smelling salts are banned in the NFL. • And tennis gets its own reality dating show at the US Open.

EP 10.11The trade deadline has come and gone, and the Dodgers made some small moves. The Dodgers are getting healthy, and those acquisitions are just as good as a trade. What is wrong with Mookie?
Bill Plunkett joins us to talk about the Kike' Hernandez's health, the Dodgers' recent struggles at the plate and if fans should be worried. We talk about Mookie's continued struggles at the plate and how he's likely pressing. Also, could other teams in MLB be smelling blood in the water with the Dodgers struggling the way they are?
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the series over the Rays on the strentgh of dominant pitching, most recently from Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and just enough offense (led by a resurgent Freddie Freeman).
