They Said It is a quick back and forth on what was said in the sports world yesterday. Today we hear from Joe Burrow, Mike McDaniel and Mookie Betts.

Mike's out, so naturally Mookie immediately starts messing with the background, and somehow that becomes a recurring issue all night. We kick things off with beer intros before diving headfirst into the Joe Burrow discourse. Is he hinting at retirement, or is he just completely done with Cincinnati? George Kirby hopes he never has to face Kerry Carpenter again! But the M's had Leo Rivas and Jorge Polanco to rescue their season although Cal Raleigh did all he could. Jays kind of bludgeoned #Yankees who had pitching and fielding issues despite getting a terrific performance from odds-on favorite for ALMVP Aaron Judge.  #Dodgers vanquished #Phillies. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner just didn't do enough. Neither team hit all that well and it was defense and coming through in the clutch that led L.A. to the 4-game victory.  Mookie's wheel play in game 2 was amazing and just perfect. Orion Kerkering's brain fart to lose game 5 and the series was unfortunate. We feel bad for him.  Now Dodgers get the #Brewers who subdued the #Cubs also in 5 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers had a lead against the NL East champion Phillies, but Jack Dreyer had an uncharacteristically bad night and Alex Vesia did, too, both allowing go-ahead home runs in the late innings. Mookie Betts had two sacrifice flies and a game-tying homer, and Andy Pages had a huge game-tying homer off Philly closer Jhoan Duran in the bottom of the ninth, but LA was unable to push across a run in the bottom of the 10th and dropped the game. The loss probably ends the Dodgers' chances of avoiding the Wild Card round of the playoffs, so now they're mostly playing to win the NL West. Tube in all season long! The Los Angeles Dodgers sat on top of the NL West with a nine game cushion, on July 3rd, and looked ready to run away with the division. Not even a month and a half later they've fallen out of first place after going 12-21 in that timespan. In the same timespan, the San Diego Padres have gone 23-12 and taken sole possession of first place in the NL West. All of this leads up to back-to-back weekend series between the two teams. First up, it's the Dodgers turn to play host. Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Dodgers' slide and everything that led up to it.
