Listeners of The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views that love the show mention: philly sports talk, len and jeff, philly sports fans,The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 on the season, but it really doesn't feel like they're a top team in the NFL based on current power rankings. This week, we take a look at what we've seen after two week, and where they need to improve on offense and defense? Shane Half (@ShaneHaffNFL on Twitter) from the Chalk Talk podcast and Bleeding Green Nation joined us for a great discussion and analysis about where the Eagles are heading. It was a great discussion! But first, we dove into some Phillies talk. First, a couple pitchers were promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley this week. Second, we rated our concerns on a scale of 1-10 about the pitching during the postseason. (approx. 6:10)We then responded to some listener feedback from an email that was sent to us about the future of the Sixers and Joel Embiid. (approx. 15:20)We also talked about the recent play from the Philadelphia Union and how the last four games of the season could be a playoff preview. (approx. 24:45)From there, we talked about which Eagles players have surprised us thus far after two weeks of football. (approx. 31:10)What we threw down on the Table this week was a great discussion with Shane Haff from the Chalk Talk podcast on YouTube about this Eagles team. What are the biggest hurdles Jalen Hurts needs to meet head on this season? How can this Eagles offense contain the blitz more not just in week 3, but for the rest of this season? Great concern for the slot cornerback position for the rest of the year. Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter are balling out! All of this and much more this week on the Table! Week 2 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2023-2024 season is now in the books! The Birds end up winning their home opener at The Linc against the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 34-28. The Eagles are now 2-0 on the season as they come off a very short week and two wins within five days. This is an Eagles team that certainly isn't playing their best football, but at the end of the day, the wins are most important. The Eagles rushing attack was completely dominant, which started in the 2nd quarter with D'Andre Swift after the passing game couldn't get started. Swift ended the day with 175 yards on the ground, averaging 6.3 yards per carry, and 1 touchdown. He's the one who carried the offense, along with DeVonta Smith coming down with 4 balls for a total of 131 yards and a touchdown.Meanwhile, the defense and Sean Desai held the Vikings rushing to 28 total yard. However, they gave up a ton of passing yards - 364 total - via a defensive backfield that was definitively young, inexperienced, and out on the field due to a number of injuries. As always, we gave our themes, takeaways and graded the units and coaches.Head over to our website for all of our podcasts and more: philadelphiasportstable.com.Follow us on Twitter:Jeff Warren: @Jeffrey_WarrenLen Hunsicker: @LenHunsickerErik Leonard: @BrickPolittAnd the show: @PhiladelphiaPSTFollow the show on Instagram: instagram.com/philadelphiasportstable.This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3549428/advertisement

It was a fun and entertaining discussion with Justin as always! But first, the guys discussed and reflected on week 1 in the NFL with a bunch of storylines that brings us back to that top from our Table Talk show: is this going to be the year of the defense? (approx. 39:50)What we threw down on the Table this week was a great discussion with Justin Klugh from Baseball Prospectus and the Hittin' Season podcast about this Phillies team. hat does Kyle Schwarber's plate appearances mean to the team from here on out? What does this team need from Nick Castellanos at the plate as we're looking toward this postseason? Thoughts on Aaron Nola as he continues to define his legacy in red pinstripes. This week on TABLE TALK, Jeff sat down with Mark Schofield (@MarkSchofield on Twitter) from SB Nation for a dive into some NFL storylines that we saw during week 1. Week 1 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2023-2024 season is now in the books! The Birds end up pulling out a victory against the New England Patriots up in Foxboro by a score of 25-20, but it wasn't a pretty win. The Eagles are now 1-0 on the season as they look to make some waves within the NFC.This was a game very much dominated by the defense, especially up front. Even though the defense only had 2 sacks in this game, they, along with the secondary, made the plays needed to help this team start the year with a winning record.Meanwhile, the offense looked rusty and only put up approximately 250 total yards - something we're not used to seeing from Jalen Hurts and company. Was this a case of new coordinators starting their tenures in the regular season? Or did the team simply need this game to get out the kinks?
