Amy Miller takes Center Stage this week! Amy Miller was one of Comedy Central's “Up Next” comics for 2018 and was a breakout favorite in Season 9 of "Last Comic Standing." Her Comedy Central Presents set has been viewed over 3-million times on Youtube and Facebook. She was also a featured comic on Viceland's "Flophouse." On "Last Comic Standing," Keenen Ivory Wayans said she had one of the “fiercest jokes he had ever heard.” Originally from the East Bay, Amy found her comedy chops in Oakland and is still a regular at the SF Punch Line and Cobb's Comedy Club. Her material is personal, political, and 100% authentic. The Laugh Button says “She found a wildly creative way to find empowerment while simultaneously sparking laughter” and Courting Comedy says “Miller juxtaposes an unassuming demeanor with unflinching assurance.” After a move to Portland in 2012, Amy quickly rose to the top of the Pacific Northwest comedy scene, winning Portland's Funniest in Helium's 2015 contest, as well as being voted Portland's Funniest Comedian for 2013 and 2015 in the Willamette Week. She was the first woman to win each position and the only one to win all three. Amy's debut album, "Solid Gold," is available on Kill Rock Stars and was named one of the top 10 comedy albums of 2016 by the "Interrobang." You may have also seen Amy on Viceland or heard her on SiriusXM, NPR, "Doug Loves Movies," "The Adam Carolla Show," "The Bennington Show," "Put Your Hands Together," "All Fantasy Everything," "Keith and the Girl," or her own podcast, "Who's Your God?" Starting in Oakland, moving to Portland, now currently living in L.A, Amy Miller is one of the hardest working comics out there. Amy has won Portland’s Funniest, appeared on The Adam Carolla Show, NPR, Doug Loves Movies and her own “Comedy Central Presents...”Amy and I met years ago in Portland, where a snowstorm canceled half of our shows with Tom Segura. We share a bunch of fun stories from that week and have a great comedy chat covering everything from performing in laundry mats to proper green room etiquette and not being a complete dickbag in this industry.Pat House is a nationally-touring comedian based out of Philadelphia. A regular performer in comedy clubs, casinos, and theaters all over the country, Pat has been a choice opener for Sebastian Maniscalco, Tom Segura, and Dan Cummins. Hi Working Comics Fans, this interview is one of the most beneficial I've had in a while. I learned SO much about marketing, applying to festivals, and structuring my comedy life. This is definitely going to be one of the top listened to episodes. I interviewed Amy Miller. Amy is a fast-rising talent on the West Coast and national scene. Originally from Oakland, California Amy found her comedy chops in the Bay Area and is still a regular at the SF Punch Line and Cobb’s Comedy Club. After a move to Portland, Amy quickly rose to the top of the Pacific Northwest comedy scene, winning Portland’s Funniest Comedian in Helium Comedy Club’s contest, as well as being voted Portland’s Funniest 2013 and 2015 in the Willamette Week. Here are some the topics we chat about new opportunities for comedians in off seasons, marketing lessons to help comedy career, how to apply to festivals the smart way, how to make a comedy calendar, curating jokes for an album, developing the RIGHT relationships, messaging to get on shows, finding the right open mic rhythm and balancing clerical comedy work.

On episode 45 of Sup Doc Paco and George talk with VICE writer and comedian Megan Koester about the 2016 documentary Weiner. This documentary centers around ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner as he navigates the fallout (his wife, Huma Abedin, recently separated from him) of yet another alleged sexting scandal — his second since landing in hot water after tweeting explicit photos of himself to a woman via Twitter in 2011 — buzz surrounding the documentary about his life, aptly titled Weiner, has reached an all-time high. The social and political aftermath of #Weinergate 2011 is intensely chronicled in Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg’s sometimes endearing, often uncomfortably funny, endlessly fascinating portrait of the former New York congressman. We also find out more about Megan and talk about movies, politics, Woody Allen, Trump, and dick pics.Megan Koester is a writer and comedian (obviously) who resides in Los Angeles (somewhat less obviously). A columnist for VICE, she co-produces Entitlement, a monthly comedy show with other VICE scribes which has had the pleasure to host such notables as Neil Hamburger, Marc Maron, Kyle Kinane, Maria Bamford, Kurt Braunohler, Reggie Watts, and Andy Kindler (who she collaborated with on her "How Not to Be a Stand-Up Comedian" article for VICE). She's performed at SF Sketchfest, the Hollywood Improv, the SF Punchline, Tomorrow!, The Grawlix, Chicago Underground Comedy, and countless other shows across this great land we call America. She has her very own track on the Holy Fuck Live Comedy album, which you can listen to on Spotify if you're so inclined. She USED to be a staple of those Huffington Post "Women You Should Follow on Twitter" lists until she started making a big stink about them being patronizing; she's also one third of the all-female (sorry) sketch group Blessed. A Guardian UK and Witstream contributor, she's been featured on Splitsider and is finding it very hard to continue writing this bio in the third person. It's been a couple weeks since we've done an episode, and we're sorry about that. We meant to do a Doctor Strange review but we got sidetracked with drinking at a tiki bar, The Jungle Bird, which you should check out in Sacramento sometime. BUT, we're back. Luke Soin and Joe-Joe Louis ride home from the SF Punch Line with Mark Burg aka Bark Murg, to talk about the show Joe-Joe and Mark did, and two amazing movie trailers. The first trailer is for the controvertial Ghost in the Shell movie and the other is for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Both look awesome, but definitely at least one or both need more Asian actors. We are sad and happy about these movies. Tell us what you think in the comments or tweet at us! @EpicTikiComedy (Luke) and @BuckyGums (Joe-Joe) and @MarkJBurg (Mark Burg) Thanks for listening! Fantastic new episode with comedian Beth Stelling during her stop in San Francisco at the SF Punchline. Such a fun episode to do and after going back and listening to it, I realized that we reminisced and dwelled on going to school at Miami (OH) for a while. Apologies for the light hum and other slight audio difficulties. I did as many repairs in post as possible.Enjoy!
