Steve Caldwell lives in Louisville, Kentucky - but grew up in South Louisiana, in cajun country. In the 90's he loved seeing things he typed on the screen come to life, as he built website in Frontpage 95. As he got into his 20's, he wanted to jump into professional dev. He's got 3 kids in elementary school - so with the pandemic, its been quite interesting having everybody at home. He's relatively new to Kentucky, but hopes to get out and do the bourbon trail when the timing is right. He enjoys playing music, composing, and DJ'ing. As he puts it, he enjoys combining his passion for music with his passion for technology. In startup land, you have to be able to adlib and be flexible to change, understand your customers, and to skate where the puck is so to speak. Its the same in music - feeling the crowd, responding to your band, etc. - which is a really interesting parallel. As the COVID pandemic decimated live music events, Steve was caught in a related riff. He found himself networking for his next gig, and while doing so, started to chat with his now co-founders about a new opportunity... where musicians could interact with fans in new ways. WE ARE BACK talking the beautiful game for 60 minutes on the first event online Footy Talks. This episode featured live questions from attendees, some great stories, and the guys submitted their favourite starting XI with some surprises! Next event is Sunday March 29th at 7:30pm ET. Secure your spot here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/footy-talks-live-online-with-kristian-jack-luke-wileman-steven-caldwell-tickets-100724465588 Title: Comic Delays, Serious Mental Health, Comparing Global Leagues, and Our All Time Classic Lineups Episode Summary: The footy’s on hold, but Footytalks is in full swing. Steve Caldwell, KJ and Luke Wileman get together online to talk all things footy, and put the ‘social’ back into social distancing. Episode Notes: Stevie reminisces on the funniest delays to matches (somehow involving both parachutes and Olympiads) while the team discuss the MLS’s standing in world soccer. We take great questions from our virtual audience on the importance of leadership in a crisis, and whether some EPL teams might actually benefit from the break. Three all-time classic lineups, with some surprising (and highly questionable) names on the team sheet. Caldwell’s 11 Zenga; Maldini, Desailly, Stam, Cafu; Gullit, Keane, Miller, Giggs; Bosic. KJ’s 11 Bosnic; McGrath, Koeman, Ehiogu; Boban, Xavi, Platt, Matthäus, Redondo; Atkinson, Villa. Wileman’s 11 Marples; Jagielka, Maguire, Norman ‘Bite Yer Legs’ Hunter; Rivera, Matheson, Booker; Dean, Agana, Cook.

Toronto FC down a Chivas USA side who now haven't won in eleven matches, 3-0 at BMO Field. It was what would be expected against such a woeful opponent and still leaves questions as to where this TFC side sits - which will likely be answered next weekend when Portland comes to town. There were positives to take from the match, such as another Gilberto goal and Steve Caldwell returning to the starting eleven. However, with Jermain Defoe supposedly returning next week, will the fragile mentality of the club be disrupted? With six games left TFC need to win at least three and draw one to be legitimately in playoff contention. Time is running out.
The super signing shouldn't get all the credit as it was an effort right down the spine of the team as even though Defoe bagged a brace, Michael Bradley was instrumental in locking down all three points, as well as the pairing at the back of Steve Caldwell and Doneil Henry. It was a season opener like none other, as the hopes and expectations were met with a stunning 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders. It wasn't all rainbows and unicorns as not everyone was in fifth gear, and there are players to watch and see if they can fit in and compliment the players around them. We run through the match, and players who stood out, and wrap it up looking ahead to DC United.
In retrospect there should have been more outrage as what looked to be a perfectly legitimate goal from Steve Caldwell was called back and TFC ended up with a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution. The Reds wanted it more down the stretch as once again players stood up and made themselves noticed. It's a special pod with a whopping SIX guests - but most importantly three come on to discuss Justice for Matt and their experience meeting with Kevin Payne. A unique episode of the pod worth listening to.
Toronto FC held it together and put forth a display with few complaints as they drew Houston Dynamo 0-0 on the road. Steve Caldwell stood tall for the Reds and quite simply bossed the backline delivering the experience needed to calm the team down the final stretch to hold onto a point. The first clean sheet of the year give genuine optimism TFC might be pulling it together and are in a good position now to return home and take another step upwards to consistent performances.
