In light of UC San Diego's recent defection, we'll discuss what's next for the Big West, going forward. We congratulate Dan on beginning his sixth season at the helm of the Big West Conference, while trying to read the tea leaves, with regard to conference re-alignment. While the Big West will lose UC San Diego to the WCC in 2027-28, three new institutions will join the league in 2026-27 (Utah Valley, California Baptist and Sacramento State) and we discuss Dan's role on various NCAA committees, as well as the protocol for when a conference pursues a new member.

Quentin & Dylan start with a women's hoops discussion on the Tigers' last two games and what hope, if any, remains on this VERY tough upcoming schedule. Abigail is next with some enthusiastic track & field updates from the Tigers' performance at the Show Me Showdown and shares what she learned from her Splits Seconds interview with sprints coach Jordon Andreassen. So much going on in T&F right now, and we're excited to be able to check it out at Hearnes Fieldhouse this month! Rory shares swim & dive updates from Senior Weekend at Mizzou Aquatic Center, including some interesting/weird Friday events and then overall takes on Saturday's more normal meet against McKendree & Missouri State. Swimming is on hold til SECs at the end of February, but Diving, which is showing much improvement, will head to Colorado at the end of the month for another meet. Rory also shares some tennis updates, as the Tigers had a successful weekend on their home court against NIU and South Dakota. Karen is next with a SWOT analysis of Mizzou Gym at this point in the season, and explains the necessity for a 197 score and a more consistent overall performance than we've seen from the Tigers thus far. Jared Jones, perhaps the country's most underrated power hitter, locks down first base after turning down an opportunity to go pro last summer. Johnson compares Utah Valley transfer Daniel Dickinson, who'll likely man second base, to Pete Rose. - Sophomore sensation Stephen Milam will likely man shortstop, while Michael Braswell III may move to third. The Tigers have a crowded outfield. California prep star Derek Curiel has a great shot to start, as do talented sophomores Ashton Larson and Jake Brown. But Auburn transfer Chris Stanfield is in the mix, as is Johnson favorite Josh Pearson, who's played a lot of baseball for the Tigers. Freshmen Mic Paul and returnee Ethan Frey could also be in the mix. Freshmen Mikey Ryan and David Hogg II, as well as transfers Edward Yamin IV (Dayton) and Dalton Beck (Incarnate Word) could also push for playing time. Few teams have the competition for starting pitching slots that Johnson has. Chase Shores is finally healthy and could lead the rotation. Returnees Kade Anderson and Gavin Guidry are both talented and could make weekend starts. The Tigers could also build a rotation that most teams would love to have just on transfers Anthony Eyanson (UC San Diego), Zac Cowan (Winthrop) and Jacob Mayers (Nicholls State). But don't forget about William Schmidt, who was a top-10 high school player in America last year according to multiple recruiting services. The Tigers also have several talented bullpen options, including returnees Kade Woods, DJ Primeaux and Jaden Noot; freshmen Mavrick Rizy and Casan Evans and others.
