A task force was formed in the mid 2000's to study highway deaths due to murder. It was found like quite a few of the deaths were murders and that they had signatures that could have related them. Most long haul truckers are hard working, conscientious humans who keep us in food, clothing and so many other things our society would grind to halt without. But a small number of bad people have used this career as a way to hide their terrible deeds. The Highway Serial Killer initiative has been profiled in a new book: Long Haul-Hunting the Highway Serial Killers by former Asst Director of Counterintelligence for the FBI. Hear another part of this multi-part series on the murders on our highways.

Jacki Windon's journey in the game of basketball has taken her from the State Final Four as a star player at Archbishop Hoban to a stellar college basketball career at Gannon University. She then became a high school varsity head coach and shortly after a Div. 3 college head coach: all before the age of 25. A high school and college basketball referee, Jacki has settled nicely into her current role with the OHSAA. For 11 years she has broadcast college games on several television networks and she still referees in her "spare" time. Her heart for the game of basketball was forged in the backyard with her older brother who was a varsity athlete at Mogadore and who now serves as battalion chief in the Columbus Fire Department. Today's episode kicks off a special series in support of Unstoppable Women. I have Brett Garman, Asst Director of Development at Univ of Colorado at Colo Springs. This week UCCS opened registration for the Unstoppable Women's Luncheon, a celebration of scholars benefitting from the Karen Possehl Women's Endowment. This year's luncheon on May 20 features Margaret Sabin, Southern Region president for Children’s Colorado, who truly is an unstoppable woman. I can't wait to be a part of this. I'm a fan of the Unstoppable Women's luncheon and the scholar program because I was a young girl without direction in college and it was the mentors in my life who gave me direction. This program sets up women without the advantages so many of us enjoy with the connections and inner leadership to thrive. That's why I'd like to fill a table. You can buy a ticket for $65 here or you can help me fill a table and raise $2,500 for scholarships.
