In this episode, host Matt sits down with Steve Parke, the founder of ParkeCore personal training. Parkecore aims to provide support and accountability for everyone's fitness goals, believing that accessibility is key. Join Matt and Steve as they dive into Steve's personal journey, discussing his upbringing, experiences with teasing, and the impact of dyslexia on his life.Steve reflects on his upbringing in Leicester as a child of parents from the Windrush generation. He bravely shares the experiences of being teased during his school days, targeted for his skin colour, weight, and dyslexia. These challenges, though difficult to bear, shaped his determination to stand up against bullies and defend his beliefs.A pivotal moment in Steve's life came during one transformative summer when he decided to change his body. This experience ignited a lifelong interest in training and fitness, eventually leading him to become part of the Leicester Tigers youth team. Steve also highlights how his dyslexia enhanced his understanding of the human body and anatomy, particularly when he immersed himself in a subject he deeply loved.Drawing from his experience in sales-focused roles after his education, Steve gained valuable insights into non-verbal communication. He seamlessly transferred these skills into his personal training practice, enabling him to connect with clients on a deeper level.Matt and Steve engage in a thought-provoking discussion about the intersection of dyslexia and fitness. Steve shares how his unique life skills, honed through personal experiences, shape his training style and empower his clients. Steve sheds light on the incorporation of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) into his training sessions. Through these techniques, Steve empowers his clients to overcome mental barriers, cultivate a positive mindset, and achieve their fitness goals.Stay tuned until the end of the episode, where Steve reveals a practical nutrition tip specifically tailored for individuals with dyslexia. Steve Parke was a first for me. The first guest that messaged me asking to be on the podcasts, usually I'm the one chasing down guests! He told me about his approach to training and about how he and his wife run a training service that incorporates not just training for the body, but the mind too. They put a huge emphasis on intuitive training and ample recovery and this was something that I just loved!

Paleo blogger and cookbook author Tammy Credicott and health enthusiast Steve Parke join our host Dietitian Cassie along with special guest co-host and registered dietitian Eliana Witchell today in Episode 107 of "Low-Carb Conversations With Jimmy Moore & Friends!" It's the special day each week that we set aside to take a closer look at some recent health headlines from a low-carb, Paleo, and real food perspective. There are so many voices out there opining about what you should think about diet and healthy living, but it's good to get educated thoughts and ideas from various people in the alternative nutritional health community. It can get nauseating hearing a monolithic message about health from mainstream news sources. But we are committed to bucking that trend and giving you the "other side" of these stories so you can draw your own conclusions about what these headlines mean for you. If you like what you hear and want to help support us in our efforts here at "Low-Carb Conversations," then to make a donation to keeping this show on the air. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Jimmy Moore is steadily making progress on his highly-anticipated August 5, 2014 book release and can't wait to get back to podcasting again. But in the meantime, our co-host is still doing a spectacular job choosing some pretty amazing special guest co-hosts and today is no different as she welcomes in a real foods-based RD from Toronto, Ontario named . These two incredible registered dietitians are joined by guest friends Paleo cookbook author (author of , , and ) and Steve Parke who doesn't have a website or any social media pages, but has so many great things to share as you'll hear in today's episode. Still think canola oil is healthy? Watch this video discussed in today's show: Listen in as Cassie, Eliana, Tammy and Steve share their thoughts on why Naked Juice isn't as natural as you might think, a new marketing ad from Mazola claiming canola oil is better than olive oil, a new study stating higher intake of fruits and vegetables will help you live longer, why almost everything you've ever been told about unhealthy foods is probably wrong, and so much more. Plus, we've got a great recipe from Tammy at the end for as well as other health and cooking tips just for you. It's time to pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and let's talk! “LOW-CARB CONVERSATIONS” PODCAST IS LISTENER-SUPPORTED!: to support this podcast!
