Brooke's life story actually needs a long-form podcast to do it justice – and to cover all his twists and turns. He was an X Games medalist, who at 19 co-created Senate, a skate company that was turning over $14m a year, while touring with Tony Hawk and Matt Hoffman. He lost it all, moved to NZ, opened the legendary Pony nightclub in Auckland, was a star on TV3's hit show Target and has been the Organiser of many of New Zealand's largest national televised fundraisers – collectively raising over 10 million in the last decade. These days, he describes himself as a Futurist and has co-founded several groundbreaking companies focused on the emerging creator economy, Web3 and the metaverse. There's just so much goodness in this one, from Brooke's role in the All Blacks' 2007 demise, to how he got Taika Waititi and Joel Little to collab, to all the best stories from his Pony Nightclub, where Lady Gaga, Tommy Lee and Elle Macpherson would visit. Brooke is an open book and this was such a fun chat filled with a ton of laughs. And his explanation of what the future looks like might bend your brain. We're also super stoked to tell you about the business we've built. Today's guest is a well known Kiwi entrepreneur who's life has been truly fascinating thus far - the yarns do not stop today! Many will remember Brooke Howard-Smith from the consumer affairs show Target - some may have also seen him murder me last year on the first New Zealand season of The Traitors. And there's so much more. He was an X Games medalist and professional inline skater, he got kicked out of the United States once, AND he owned the well known nightclub, The Pony Club. He's more recently been involved in some truly wonderful charity campaigns, he set up a successful talent agency, and he's got skin in the game in the Metaverse (I'll let him explain that haha).See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Pointers were considered an elite dog in Austen's time, so it makes sense that someone like Willoughby would own them (also, having cute dogs is possibly the only nice thing we can say about Willoughby). This episode we welcome back Dr. Stephanie Howard-Smith for more 18th-century dog talk. We cover everything from the care and feeding of pointers to trends in 18th-century game hunting. Sir John heartily approves. If you have ever been quite literally swept off your feet by a man with two pointers playing round him, this episode is for you. Tickets please, tickets. Norm Nathan’s Vault of Silliness is now boarding the way-back machine for a DBG from August 10th, 1991, the title of which is: “I Can’t Fight This Reeling.” Long before we had an official, real, honest to goodness opening song I played the Olympic Theme to kick off the proceedings. In addition, we had smartly uniformed WBZ pages that would march into the studio, white gloves and all, carrying sealed envelopes containing all the birthday details. As Norm stated, it truly was a feather in the cap of WBZ. The Players: Paul from Malden Wolfie Alice in Brockton Scott in Lynn I’m producing and playing on the phone from Master Control And a fully relaxed Jack Harte The Bdays with all the SFX: Jimmy Dean Rosanna Arquette Eddie Fisher Patti Austin Rhonda Flemming And Bobby Hatfield Other Stuff: Poor Jack has been ‘Zha-dool-u-rized.’ Norm realizes he forgot to stay home. Wolfie has doubled his thing. The original songs 73 & 77 trombones didn’t take. It’s an emotional rollercoaster of humor highs and lows. Tony and Jack dispel any rumors of cheating! At times Alice is calling from fah, fah away. I’m is forced to stay another hour. And Norm does the weather with some musical accompaniment that puts him in a romantic mood. He expanded the possibilities of the gospel sound. He dared to defy the borders of race and integrate Christian music audiences. He shared his platform with many of the most brilliant vocalists and musicians of our lifetime. And then he brought gospel music to the rest of the world. In this episode, Tim and Ray discuss the life and music of gospel legend Andraé Crouch. As always, they dig in deep, covering his beginnings in COGIC (and his first group, the COGICs), his top-notch rolodex of collaborators (including Billy Preston, Bill Maxwell, Danniebelle Hall, Táta Vega, Phillip Bailey, Stevie Wonder, Howard Smith, Linda McCrary, Kristle Murden, and his very own twin sister Sandra Crouch), his prolific works released through Light and, later, Warner Bros. Records, his right-wing politics, his 1982 drug arrest scandal, and his crossover era working in major Hollywood films (The Color Purple and The Lion King, anyone?) and with pop megastars like Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Madonna, and Rick Astley. Welcome my friends to a very special “Inside Wayne Manor with Stephen Wayne and Friends” Jim Gone 4 50. Part One. James Douglas Morrison. I have so much to say about this man, he has unknowingly guided my life since I was in high school. This special is a labor of love as we remember Jim Morrison on the so called 50th anniversary of his death. In this episode we hear from those who knew him best, including The Doors them selves, Ray, Robby, and John. Also Danny Sugerman. Then we hear James on Jim. And what I believe was one of the most important legal cases against music in history. This culmination of audio interviews was given to the world by Jim Ladd, Mike Lazar, Geoffrey Cannon, Howard Smith, Bob Chorush, and Salli Stevenson. With the man himself, Mr. Mojo Risin. And on a personal note, the spirit of this rock star, dionysus, shaman, poet, or what ever you choose to call him, he was and is still a major part of my life, and believe it or not one of the reasons I find myself in Venice California. So this special is been in the making for close to 40 years of my life, and it still continues. So thank you, for letting me indulge you with one of my passions in life. The truth is out there. Enjoy, stay safe and healthy!!!!!!!! PS: Keep your eye on my social media pages for selected listening, and reading concerning The Door's and Jim Morrison.
