In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month this April, host Janet Michael spoke with Aliyha Gill, a passionate sexual assault victim advocate for the Phoenix Project to explore the crucial efforts of the organization and highlight the importance of consent, support systems for survivors, and educational initiatives. Janet introduced the show by highlighting April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, emphasizing the importance of widespread awareness. Aliyha shared her role as a sexual assault victim advocate for the Phoenix Project, an organization extending its services to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. She delved into the comprehensive support provided by the organization, including legal advocacy, educational supportive counseling, medical accompaniment, and specialized support for children and parents. A significant part of the conversation revolved around the topic of consent. The showcase will feature submissions from survivors in Warren County and presents an opportunity for the community to witness the resilience and creativity of these individuals. Alongside the art showcase, the organization is preparing for International Denim Day on April 30th, promoting awareness through wearing denim. Aliyha highlighted the origin of this day and its significance in advocating against victim-blaming attitudes. Additionally, various educational materials and support resources will be available at multiple locations, making it accessible for those in need. April also marks Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Phoenix Project is actively participating by displaying blue pinwheels and providing educational resources to the community. A cohesive approach involving public and systemic efforts is essential to prevent child abuse, with schools and workplaces playing significant roles in this mission. The Phoenix Project will host an open house and donor event on April 24th, offering a platform for the community to learn more about their services and meet the dedicated advocates in person. This event aims to foster better support systems and create a safer community for all. Today, we're taking on a topic you've probably heard of – it may have even impacted you personally. But you might not be aware just how linked it is to the issue of diversity and inclusion.   We're talking about noncompete agreements.   Noncompetes have long been a staple in corporate America. But, despite supposedly being in place to protect trade secrets, many workers, including low earners, have been subject to this practice, greatly restricting their career options, flexibility and earning potential.   And that's especially the case for underrepresented voices. A number of studies suggest that noncompete agreements more strongly affect women and people of color, with one finding that strict enforcement of noncompete agreements lowered the wages of women and people of color by twice as much as white men.   But things are starting to change. Last year, the FTC announced a rule banning noncompetes. Whilst it was largely welcomed by workers, not all employers were so happy about it.    So we're going to dive into the issue today. That's very expensive, and each and every time you request an employee to re-sign, it's a time for that employee to reconsider if they still want to be a part of that organization.” Karin “Fewer than 10% of workers negotiate these agreements.” Chelsey   “Can everyone talk about the meaning of the words?! The words have lost all meaning, they've become buzzwords... Let's talk about the words as part of impact on culture.” Kiran “It's so hard to restrict information in a human brain. If I'm an employee in one place and go to another, I didn't say anything about my previous job… but I still have lessons learned and knowledge, I'm not sharing information customer-to-customer, but I'm going to have new solutions. Stephen introduces the dynamic interplay between writing and self-reflection, arguing that the act of writing illuminates resistances, countertransference, and areas of growth that might elude the analyst in supervision or personal analysis. He shares his innovative "three-minute chess match" technique for identifying the heart of a case narrative and reflects on his journey—from his mother's poetry to his current work mentoring candidates in the art of case writing. We explore Stephen's insights on the 're-immersion anxiety' that can inhibit case writing, and how addressing these resistances transforms the writing process and deepens clinical work. To avoid the appearance of discrimination, you may feel compelled to provide this confidential document to every agent, creating a breach in the trust and confidentiality that your client expects. The solution lies in never compromising confidentiality. By strictly adhering to the executed buyer representation agreement, you protect your buyer's interests and avoid the slippery slope of breaching confidentiality.
