Henry speaks with Bryan Byrd about his experiences that led to his book, "Surviving Paradise: the Perils and Pleasures of the Caribbean".
(Video podcast available on Spotify & YouTube) Naughty little possums, we're back and still exploiting Netflix's ‘Perfect Match' for all the trauma it gave Harry! But in all seriousness, this time Harry invites his good friend and ‘Perfect Match' co-star Justin Assada on to discuss Justin's time on the Netflix show, the cast member he made out with (and it's NOT Elys!), and whether he'd go on ‘Perfect Match' or ‘Surviving Paradise' again. Justin also fills Harry in on his current dating life and his recent move to Los Angeles. Then, Harry and Justin play a game of If It Looks Like a Red Flag, and assign a flag color (red, green, or beige) to your situations, which include your fiancé not inviting you to his 21st birthday and your girlfriend only texting you while hanging out with her male BFF. Finally, the boys answer your questions pertaining to everything from seeing your one-night stand at the gym, to sliding into someone's LinkedIn DMs, and more. TGIF, Cuties! Stop deedlebopping and listen to Donny and Chelsea break down the week the best way they know how: by making it about themselves. No topic is left unmentioned: Renee Rapp, The Killers' Las Vegas residency, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and Taylor Swift's boyfriend's brother. Donny has been watching Netflix's "The Trust" and "Surviving Paradise," and he has never been so sure that he was made for reality competition television. The two also compare their favorite movies of the year (including a 2009 vampire movie "from the 80s or 90s") before getting into their feelings about the Oscar nominations. Also, Chelsea is NOT Donny's PR person... nor is she a film buff, as is proven in the fact that she refers to Oliver Stone as "the director of Oppenheimer." This week's what we're watching is all over the place which gives those looking for something to watch options. We start by talking about Hulu's Black Cake then shift into Netflix's latest reality show, 'Surviving Paradise' (3:50). We touch on 'Squid Game: The Challenge' (8:35). Prime Video's top comedy show 'Upload' (17:20) feels like an under the radar show so we wanted to discuss the futuristic show. Then we wrap up by talking about our first broadcast show with 'Found' (34:00) on NBC. Follow us on Instagram and on Twitter.
In this (mildly) festive episode, we talk a little about what the holidays were like as a former member of the Jehovah's Witnesses - from not celebrating Christmas, to not celebrating birthdays, to not celebrating...Thanksgiving! Which most of us now gleefully do, perhaps ironically at first. Welcome to a special episode of 'Positively Uncensored'! This will make the 4th Reunion Special I was fortunate enough to conduct with the cast from 'Surviving Paradise' that we all loved watching on screen. Scroll down for an important message about the episode! Follow Copan on IG: www.Instagram.com/copanjoe *In this episode Copan and I have sensitive, but important conversations surrounding lack of diversity in small towns and the experience of broadening that when you leave* PLEASE NOTE: Hate towards anyone is not something that this podcast stands for, if you have an unkind opinion on someone please keep it to yourself and refrain from messaging the person directly to hash out issues. Kelly's obsessed with the new press car she's getting, a real Carpool mom shares her Ford 150 Lightning experience, and Emma has a delicious ditch the drive through to round out the show. → Do you drive an X3 or Atlass Cross Sport? Then it's your time to shine! Head on over to the reviews, leave Kelly and Lizz five stars, and let them know what you love about the show! In today's driveway dumps, Kelly and Lizz lament the decline of comfort shows and suggest giving Schitt's Creek a chance. The gals are loving the Beckham documentary and are all about the power of a documentary to rebrand a celebrity. Lizz is loving the drama sans romance on Surviving Paradise and Kelly's almost done reading the Four-Hour Work Week. “That goes dummy hard” is today's millennial word meaning exemplary or high quality. This one might be good to know, but Kelly can't imagine using it anytime soon. Kelly's waiting for Boden Black Friday deals and Lizz has her eye on Ruggable rugs. But…when do the good deals actually arrive? No one knows. In the meantime, Lizz is upping her silicone mold game and made a skims haul, Kelly ordered a muted camo vest and Kizik shoes for George, and both placed orders at Express. You've probably seen caraway cookware pop up on your Instagram at some point because their kitchenware is so aesthetically pleasing. Caraway cookware has a chemical-free ceramic coating, which means you need less oil and butter to cook and it's super easy to clean. The cookware set also comes with the most fantastic organizational system made just for your cookware. → Visit carawayhome.com/carpool to get up to 20% off your next purchase for a limited time. If you're lost in the abyss of subscriptions, get Rocket Money a personal finance app that monitors your spending and helps you lower your bills. → Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com/carpool. In industry news, Kelly has the flip side of last week's report: the worst resale value cars. Unsurprisingly, luxury Maseratis and BMWs top the list. The 2025 Ram 1500 is reinventing the wheel with a generator for towing, and Lizz has opinions about it. A real life Carpool mom who owns a F150 Lightning writes in with her real experience and real cost numbers. ‘Jen' is in her single mom era and looking for a ‘hot mom' car on today's advice segment. Kelly recommends the Toyota Four-Runner, BMWX3, and Atlas Cross Sport. Emma writes in with today's ditch the drive-through, pizza casserole. Cut up a roll of pillsbury biscuits and top with a mixture of a 14 oz jar of marinara and your meat of choice. Cover with mozzarella cheese and bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes. → To share your ditch the drive-through recipe with us, call (959) CAR-POOL and leave us a message! → Do you have a story to share about your little one who was gone too soon? Hey guys and welcome back to my podcast. Today we have a FULL recap of Surviving Paradise on Netflix. A part one and part two from my YouTube channel, uploaded as audio only for you listeners!! Today, we are chatting about Netflix's newest competition reality show called Surviving Paradise. #survivingparadise is about contestants thrown on an island, as half of them live in a luxury villa and the other half live at camp. The villa has food, showers, pool and a yacht. Camp has rice, beans, sleeping outside and boredom. The point of the game is to be in the villa and to overcome all the obstacles the game throws at you including, vote offs, challenges, starvation, manipulation and so much more. The ultimate goal is to win the 200 thousand dollars, but it seems a like the real message of the story is to actually put others before yourself. In our longest episode yet, we take a look at the Jehovah's Witnesses belief that invisible boogey men continue to influence our lives. God wiped out the demon's families at the Flood, but then let them come home to heaven and what? Grab a snack? Only to send them right back to vulnerable mankind on earth to do it all over again. From a young age, adults and children alike are fed a steady diet of fear. Witnesses have been taught that everything from Smurfs, to music, toys, movies, album covers and that pair of socks you got at the garage sale, are potentially dangerous items highjacked by demons that want to come to your house. Let's talk urban legend, where all of this comes from... and several other sensitive questions you probably never considered... this week on Surviving Paradise! #jehovahswitnesses #exjw #exjehovahswitness #watchtower TWITTER: @exjwpodcastINSTAGRAM: survivingparadisepodcastTWITTER: @exjwpodcastINSTAGRAM: survivingparadisepodcast
