So we decided to make it a thing—a weekly check-in where we catch up, talk about all the stuff outside the usual episode topics, reminisce about the Golden Age of Improv, spill the hot goss, and share whatever pop culture or art has us hooked that week. These weekly check-ins are now living over on Patreon. Send us a textJoin Jim and Steve as they review the first episode of the series Scavengers Reign. If you like lost at sea and lost in space shows, you should love this one. Throw in some late 70s and early 80s animation style and you have the makings of a cult classic here, maybe minus a heavy metal soundtrack; but you could add your own! We really like this one. Listen and see if you might like it too! Keep watching the shows!
Hey, folks! Today on the feed we're thrilled to be sharing the pilot episode of one of our favorite Fiction Podcast Series. We fell in love with this show back in 2019 and now it's returning with its second season, It's called WINDFALL. Windfall is a dystopian sci-fi/fantasy epic from the team that brought you Forgive Me! Ever since the tyrannical Wanda's castle appeared in the clouds above Windfall City, its residents have built upwards to meet her. But not everyone is convinced of Her Majesty's Grace. Our series follows three brothers living on the surface alongside their family (chosen and otherwise), wary of the Queen's motives, and showcases what they must do to survive in a world that would rather leave them for dead. Season Two picks up three months after the finale of Season One. So whether your new listener or an old fan excited to jump back in, now is the perfect time to return to the world of Windfall. Windfall tells an epic story on a small scale, focusing on the everyday lives of regular people in a fantastic world. Featuring a massive cast of characters with wildly divergentpersonalities, the show is at times funny, somber, dramatic, and exhilarating. Fans of Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, Scavengers Reign, and Silo will love this show. After you listen, be sure to Subscribe to the main feed for Windfall. Learn more about your ad choices. Grab your emergency rations, hop into your escape pod, and travel with your crew, Presley and Andrew, as they explore this alien tv show. All our Links: https://linktr.ee/seasononepodSeason Spoiler Synopsis: Scavenger's Reign was a 2023 Max original animated series. The story follows a group of colonial cargo haulers who are forced to abandon their ship and crash on an alien planet. We follow three distinct groups, the first is Sam and Ursula, who have been spending their time trying to get their hauler, the Demeter, to come down from orbit. There is also Azi and her robot, Levi. Finally, we have Kamen, who has been trapped in his escape pod the entire time they have been stranded. After Sam and Ursala bring down the Demeter from Orbit, all of the scattered survivors work to make their way to the ship, where they know an escape shuttle exists and can get them and the sleeping colonists off of the planet. Kamen, who is ultimately responsible for the catastrophe that resulted in them being stranded, is brainwashed by an alien who has telekinetic abilities. He is led by the alien toward the Demeter and is forced to kill a number of animals to satisfy the creature's bloodlust. Sam and Ursala face a long journey to get to the ship and have many close calls with hostile alien creatures. Sam ultimately gets implanted with an alien parasite, which begins to dictate his actions, which makes Ursala weary of him as they approach the ship. Sam chooses to remove the parasite himself, which ultimately ends his life. Azi, having fought the creature that possesses Kamen, loses her robot Levi, who is starting to become sentient due to the strange fungus on the planet. Azi meets three scavengers who she agrees to help get to the ship in exchange for passage off the planet. They end up betraying her, and Azi is found by Ursala tied up by a river close to the Demeter. Trying to make it to the ship before the scavengers steal the last remaining shuttle, the two work to wake the colonist, but the creature possessed by Kamen ruins their plan nearly killing them, but Levi, now infused with plant material saves them freeing Kamen from his hold. Ultimately the lone scavenger leader escapes with the shuttle stranding Ursala, Azi, Kamen and the awoken colonist on the planet.
Welcome back, beloved listeners! This week we're back after a little break with a new guest - Johnny Rinaldo! You know, the person who makes our incredible intro and outro music? Yeah. AND he's here to talk about one of his favorite shows of all time - Scavengers Reign! After a LOT of off topic chatter about the new Dragon Age game and who we're romancing, we finally get back on track with the plot of Scavengers Reign for those who have yet to see it or haven't watched it in a bit. From there, there's a dissertation on the characters we hated the most (and why we found them interesting anyway), the beauty of both the visuals and the storytelling, and why we are so incredibly desperate for a season two. Also, there's some explanations as to why we can't watch shows we care about while we're eating. That's our designated Youtube time. Warning for this episode: we get in depth with spoilers for the entire series! If you haven't watched it yet and want to go in spoiler free (which we do recommend), go ahead and watch it before listening to this episode! Don't worry, we'll be here when you're done.
I first became aware of Wunmi Mosaku at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Her feature, His House, premiered there and not only was the film itself exquisite, but Mosaku herself was a top-tier interview, brimming with passion and enthusiasm for her craft. From that point on, I've made it a priority to seek out Mosaku's past work and keep up with all of her new releases, and it's paid off big time.Since His House's release on Netflix, Mosaku became a scene-stealer in Lovecraft Country, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Loki, she did her first voice performance for the acclaimed animated series Scavengers Reign, and now, for the very first time, she's at the top of the call sheet for a series, ITV's Passenger, which is now available to stream on BritBox.Mosaku leads as Riya, a former Metropolitan Police officer who decides to relocate to the tiny town of Chadder Vale to care for her mother-in-law. After the one-two punch of a gruesome discovery and a strange disappearance, Riya becomes convinced that something isn't quite right in Chadder Vale. However, her Chief Constable, Linda (Jo Hartley), refuses to entertain any of Riya's theories. She's far too focused on maintaining the town's reputation and winning Best Kept Village. But is it all a facade? Are past troubles and recent unsettling events uncovering the sinister truth of Chadder Vale? Riya is determined to find out. With all six episodes of Passenger Season 1 now available to stream on BritBox, Mosaku took the time to make her second appearance on Collider Ladies Night. After recapping many key credits during her last Ladies Night interview, this time around, the focus fell heavily on her growing voice and presence in film and television, and how she aims to use them. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Break out your plumbuses folks, it's time for another weird ass trip through some cool ass shit. We're talking about season one of Scavangers Reign, a show that pairs perfectly with Alien Clay and several other things we've covered recently. We discuss the nuances on distinguishing between parasitic and symbiotic relationships, and how we moralize about those ways of being, particularly when we compare them to social versions like colonialism vs. socialism. We also get into the culturally charged issue of "ways of knowing" or "indigenous ways of knowing". Plus all the fun flubjules in your orifices kind of stuff. Gotta get those flubjules. We seek acceptance in the Love Me section this week. In real life, Sarah tells us all about her TwitchCon experience while Joe finally finishes Scavengers Reign. We didn't play Baulders Gate this week so we got recommendations! In Skip Beat, Kyoko joins LME. She gets assigned as the only member of the Love Me section, a thinly disguised attempt to make her do grunt labor. Her first major assignment is to protect the last Japanese Idol, Ruri, from the sun. Will she be able to achieve this daunting task without major injury? No, the answer is no.
