Zdroj zvukov: TASR TV Odporúčanie: Odporúčať vám na tomto mieste Daily, Today in Focus, This American Life a podobné tituly je asi ako hovoriť, aby ste pili dva litre vody denne. Možno ešte zbytočnejšie. Veď vy predsa viete, čo je dobré. Napriek tomu, v duchu čím divnejšie tým lepšie, ma nesmierne pobavila a potešila epizóda Today Explained z 10. apríla s názvom Cicadapocalypse 2021 a ja ju jednoducho nemôžem neodporúčať.

"To be silent is to be complicit." Meg and Fran didn't feel right not speaking about the Black Lives Matter movement. As Asian Americans, we're sure we are not alone in having stayed comfortable in the sidelines for a long time. And we go one step further in this conversation: we explore and come to terms with the fact that we grew up, benefited, and were complicit in a culture steeped in the mindset of white supremacy -- and that in coming to the U.S., we wanted to stay complicit in a similar, tiered racist system; we continue to stay comfortable and benefit from that system by being a quiet, so-called "model minority" citizen (while it continues to kill our black siblings). And Fran and Meg have to actively, uncomfortably, change that -- and we are calling on our fellow Asian Americans to DO THE SAME. | A couple of things first: 1) LISTEN TO BLACK VOICES FIRST. What are you doing here? We recommend listening to these podcasts first: Ibram X. Kendi on how to be anti-racist on Today Explained: https://bit.ly/37dRCoN Ta-Nehisi Coates on why he's hopeful on the Ezra Klein Show: https://bit.ly/3dLFeig Pod Save The People: https://bit.ly/30okoS7 Code Switch: https://n.pr/3f7mQRs 2) DISCLAIMER: We make some generalizations here about Filipino culture because it's easier than disclaiming something every 5 seconds (here is the disclaimer at 00:33:05). This doesn't mean we think "all so-and-so group of people are such-and-such." We just mean the majority, in our experience. | Part 1: Growing Up Complicit in the "White Mindset." Welcome to episode 163 of the EdTech Situation Room from January 29, 2020, where technology news meets educational analysis. This week Jason Neiffer (@techsavvyteach) and Wesley Fryer (@wfryer) discussed recent revelations that the Avast Antivirus software program is a dragnet for user browser history sold to interested buyers, Google's announced extensions to ChromeOS support updates, and Google's forthcoming AirDrop clone, "Fast Share." A bizarre but newly validated story of Saudi Arabia's crown prince (MBS) hacking Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' cellphone via a video link shared privately with him through WhatsApp, controversy over Sonos legacy products and available security patches / software updates, and a variety of Election 2020 resources from a Paul Allison webcast (via Peggy George) were also highlighted. Quick headline shares included the new "Star Trek like" logo of the U.S. military's newest branch, Space Force, the release of more than 150,000 different art images from the Paris Museum into the public domain, and a New York Times feature article on Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri who is working to "take away the likes" (or at least partial visibility of them in certain cases) on the platform to purportedly help user wellness. Geeks of the Week included Rebble for Pebble (a crowdsourced operating system for the discontinued Pebble smartwatch) and a recent Today Explained podcast about new security researcher reports concerning the alleged Saudi Arabia initiated hack of Jeff Bezos' smartphone. Hear Amina's tips for getting from sun-up to sun-down without eating, the aspects of Ramadan that go beyond the physical, and how observing it in a place where Muslims are in the vast minority allows Amina to take a better look at herself. This week, Uri and Rivky dive into the issue on everyone's minds: the OU honoring Jeff Sessions at their annual policy conference, after the emergence of reports of children being forcibly separated from their parents by immigration authorities. They ask, what is really going on? What are these policies, really? How are the policies under Trump different than Obama, or Bush-era policies? And what about the OU - did the OU make a mistake? What should they have done? Is the anger against the OU deserved?
