Russia's response to the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that the Kremlin's approach to public health is inextricable from its national security goals. Jill Dougherty and Nataliya Shok discuss the evolution of public health policy in Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Sputnik V vaccine as a foreign policy tool, and what policymakers should know about Russian influence in global health policy.

It's Monday, March 13th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Nigerians kill Kaduna pastor's son and abduct pastor's wife Last Friday, gunmen suspected to be bandits killed the son of a village pastor and abducted his wife, along with three others, in an attack in Nigeria's Kaduna State, reports The Christian Post. Revelation 21:8 says that all murderers will be punished “in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” The Nigerian government continues to be criticized for its inability to curb the rising spate of murders in the region. Christian rights groups have warned for years about the deteriorating religious freedom conditions in Nigeria amid the rise of terror groups like Boko Haram and the Islamic State in the northeast. Advocates have also warned about an increase in deadly violence against predominantly Christian communities committed by radical Muslim herders in the farming-rich Middle Belt states as the country deals with desertification and erosion of natural resources. Disturbingly, last month, Biden's State Department reaffirmed its decision to remove Nigeria from its list of countries of particular concern for religious freedom violations after conducting an allegedly “careful review” following objections from Nigerian Christians, human rights groups, and members of Congress. More than 30 high profile Russians have died since Ukraine invasion Dozens of high profile Russian figures have died since Vladimir Putin launched his bloody war in Ukraine over a year ago -- with many in odd circumstances, such as sudden "suicides" and falls from windows, reports The U.S. Sun recently and The Atlantic last December. For example, Sergey Grishin, the so-called "Scarface" oligarch who sold Meghan and Harry their California mansion, died this week from sepsis after criticizing Putin. Meanwhile, Russian scientist Andrey Botikov, who created the "Sputnik V" vaccine , was strangled with a belt in his apartment last week. Both men were two of the 30 high profile deaths of people linked to Mad Vlad. Jon Sweet, a retired US Army Military Intelligence Officer, described Putin as running a "modern-day KGB version of Murder Inc." Biden eager to fund more cross-gender surgeries for veterans President Joe Biden's new 2024 budget plan, released on Thursday, proposes to funnel some of the $137.9 billion discretionary budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs into mutilating surgeries for America's veterans, reports LifeSiteNews.com. The Biden administration is ignoring new research into the use of cross-sex hormones. Last month, the American College of Cardiology revealed studies that showed that “people with gender dysphoria taking hormone replacements as part of gender affirmation therapy face a substantially increased risk of serious cardiac events, including stroke, heart attack and pulmonary embolism.” Reports of sexual assault at military academies shot up 18% Reported incidents of sexual assault at U.S. military academies jumped 18% during the 2021-2022 school year compared to the year prior, reports The Associated Press. Nearly one in five female cadets at the Army, Navy and Air Force academies said they experienced unwanted sexual contact in the most recent school year, according to the annual report. The number of estimated instances of sexual harassment also grew to 3,939 in the 2021-2022 school year, including more than half of women and one-fifth of men. In a memo to academy administrators, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin wrote that the service academies “observed an alarming increase in the estimated prevalence of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other concerning behaviors. These corrosive behaviors require your immediate attention.” Vivek Ramaswamy announces anti-woke presidential bid Vivek Ramaswamy might not have a background in politics, but that didn't stop him from becoming one of the first candidates to announce their run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, reports BusinessInsider.com. The biotech millionaire, who was once the CEO of Roivant, will likely struggle for exposure in the predicted crowded field for the Republican nomination, but his past shows he isn't afraid of a challenge. Ramaswamy is the son of immigrants from India and an overachiever at Harvard. Listen as he describes the problem in America today. RAMASWAMY: “We're in the middle of a national identity crisis. Faith, patriotism, and hard work have disappeared -- only to be replaced by new secular religions like COVID-ism, climate-ism, and gender ideology. We hunger to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Yet we cannot even answer the question of what it means to be an American. “Today, the woke Left preys on that vacuum. They tell you that your race, your gender, and your sexual orientation, govern who you are, what you can achieve, and what you're allowed to think. This is psychological slavery, and that has created a new culture of fear in our country that has completely replaced our culture of free speech in America. And that is why today, I am announcing my run for President of the United States.” To be sure, Ramaswamy is a longshot for the GOP nomination, but the conservative firebrand says he has big plans to start a "cultural movement." Listen. RAMASWAMY: “This isn't just a political campaign. This is a cultural movement to create a new American Dream for the next generation.” Learn more at his website Vivek2024.com. The team led by researchers at the University of Cambridge showed how one in ten early deaths could be prevented if everyone managed to reach the threshold of 75 minutes per week of moderate-intensity physical activity. The study demonstrated that this would be sufficient to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke–the leading causes of death globally—as well as a number of cancers. The conclusions were drawn when the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge looked at results reported in 196 peer-reviewed articles covering more than 30 million participants. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 asks, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, March 13th in the year of our Lord 2023. Blog summary of a research paper published in Aging's Volume 14, Issue 18, entitled, “Humoral immunoresponse elicited against an adenoviral-based SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine in elderly patients.” _________________________________________ Around the world, more than 180 COVID-19 vaccines are currently in production or development. Some COVID-19 vaccines have been less effective in the elderly—a population that is already highly vulnerable to severe viral infection. Humoral immunity, or antibody-mediated immunity, is an important weapon against COVID-19. Immune responses in the elderly are often hindered by aging, an unfortunate process known as age-related immunosenescence. Vaccines that can successfully elicit a robust humoral immune response in the elderly are critical for achieving COVID-19 immunity and interrupting disease transmission in this population. “The development of an effective vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 targeted for an elder population is a challenge [17]. Furthermore, there is limited data describing the behavior of COVID-19 vaccines when administered to the elderly.” Sputnik V The two most widely available vaccines in the United States are both mRNA vaccines, the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. Of course, there are other vaccines that are more commonly available in other countries, such as Gam-COVID-Vac, or Sputnik V. Sputnik V is an adenoviral-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. “Gam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V), uses a heterologous recombinant adenovirus 26 (Ad26) and adenovirus 5 (Ad5) as vectors that deliver the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, has been administered to tens of millions of volunteers worldwide, and has a good tolerability profile [14, 15].” Adenoviral-based vaccines use a weakened form of a common cold virus (adenovirus) to deliver the genetic instructions for making the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. When these instructions are delivered to human cells, they cause the cells to produce the spike protein. The body then produces antibodies against the spike protein, which provides immunity against SARS-CoV-2. In early 2021, Sputnik V was the only vaccine available to the elderly in Argentina. The ability of this particular vaccine to elicit humoral immunity in this elderly population had yet to be fully investigated. Source article: https://chinapost.nownews.com/20211008-2813742 Next Article Topic: Airlines targeting post-pandemic ‘revenge travel' The blow caused to the airline industry by the COVID-19 pandemic has been especially felt by budget airlines, which mostly operate narrow-bodied passenger jets and have therefore been unable to develop a sideline in air freight during the pandemic. According to one academic's analysis, when the outbreak stabilizes, businesses are targeting a trend in so-called “revenge travel.” However, she also hopes that, rather than the pre-pandemic price wars between budget airlines, the consolidation that has taken place during the pandemic will restore healthy competition in the industry. According to associate professor Melody Dai of National Cheng Kung University's Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science, costs per flight have not changed during the pandemic, but if carriers are required to implement social-distancing seating plans, leaving empty seats between passengers, this would eat into airlines' profit margins, causing a fresh headache for the industry. Dai says she hopes that budget airlines will manage to survive, since they help stimulate Taiwan's domestic tourism sector as well as the wider economy. Dai says that choosing to operate flights during the pandemic is a test of airlines' ability to sustain losses, but the crisis may also prove to be a turnaround for the industry. Dai says there are many variables to the pandemic. She says that once the outbreak stabilizes, if the demand for “revenge travel” exceeds supply, this could resolve the pre-pandemic situation of supply exceeding demand, which led to price wars among budget airlines. The consolidation that the pandemic has triggered within the airline industry could bring about a return to healthy competition, says Dai. One industry insider stated that, despite the lockdowns and reduced number of travelers and flights during the pandemic, the industry is bullish about post-pandemic prospects for both freight and passenger travel in the flourishing Asian region. The insider added that a trend in “revenge travel” could cause short-haul routes to become particularly busy. Source article: https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/lang/archives/2021/09/12/2003764205

Bienvenido a La Wikly. UU., China comenzó rápidamente a distribuir vacunas a gran escala. GRIMES THE SPACE COMMUNIST Today is the sixty-fourth anniversary of Sputnik, the first manmade object to be sent into orbit. This marked the dawn of the space age and Russia won that race. Last year, when Putin smugly presented the world with Sputnik V, the first Covid vaccine, Russia was declared the winner of the vax race, that is, the race to reach inner-space “orbit”. Another space race the Russians are poised to win is that of filming the first movie in space. Tomorrow is the launch date for the Russian movie crew to head to the International Space Station. They are filming The Challenger. I mean, the Challenge. There is something ominous about the title of their movie. Perhaps it's that we're at a point where the space program risks jumping the shark entirely and they are staging another disaster. Consider this: The billionaire space race is the source of derision and mockery. Even SNL had a decent skit about it(and they haven't been funny since the ISS was launched more than 20 years ago). The speech President Reagan gave following the Challenger explosion seems pertinent here. In it, he suggested that we had ceased to be impressed by the sacrifices the astronauts of the past have made and the risks they ones of today take each day. It seemed like that disaster was a perfectly timed spectacle designed to restore a degree of dignity to the solemn quest of reaching mankind's destiny in the stars. This is not where Musk, Branson, or Bezos have been taking it. If anything, their objective is to bring down wealth from the Heavens to further enrich their earthly existences. Also worth noting here: Elon Musk's 3D-printed baby's mama Grimes was spotted reading a copy of Karl Marx's hilarious Communist Manifesto to her secret A.I. lover who she believes will someday take over the Internet and save the world. Now, while the photo of her very conspicuous reading of that pretentious nonsense seemed true to Grimes' nature, it was later admitted to having been staged by her publicist. Why? I suspect it's because she believes that in Communism, we'll all have our personal paparazzi. Or, her recent separation from her billionaire 3D Printer Filament donor left her without a source of narcissistic supply and she's already bored with the animatronic toddler. Speaking of animatronics, an update on Greta: She gave the same "blah blah" speech, this time outdoors, and holding a masked microphone. I'm assuming it was fully vaxxed. It's clear at this point Greta is reveling in her role as a child rebel standing up to the system, like Elsa from Disney's Frozen come to life. While at first, I imagined she had outgrown her role, it has since occurred to me that the political left is emotionally stunted in all its argumentation so I can see her playing the rebel teen late into her nineties. She's another world stage character, playing a role that preexisted her. Joe Rogan posted “the world's a stage” on his Instagram regarding lycanthrope in chief Joe Biden's staged intravenous needle usage. Coming from Rogan, this merely means that there are stages upon stages, and most people assume theirs is the real one. Buzz Aldrin, for example, claims there is a Monolith on Mars and he's not derided as a conspiracy theorist. Meanwhile, his moon rocks were all made of wood but people still believe whatever NASA animators create. In entertainment news, R. Kelly has promised to doxx other high profile, meanwhile, Bill Cosby seems to be the only one defending Kelly's innocence, saying the singer had also been “railroaded.” While I understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty, I wouldn't trust the Jello until Cosby is railroaded again. I watched Tennet. This may sound like a spoiler alert but it's not because the movie is so confusing you have to watch it ten times for it to make sense: future man destroys the world through climate change and invents ti --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinite-plane-radio/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/infinite-plane-radio/support

--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/martin-pitt363n/message

In this final and tenth episode, we'll tackle some of the last lingering questions that we all have around the vaccines and how the future might look as we navigate these uncharted pandemic waters. Experts first discuss new interim datasets from Johnson and Johnson and Novavax, notably their results on preventing severe disease, hospitalizations and deaths, and how they might fit into the vaccine paradigm. We'll break down why some EU countries have made the surprise recent decision not to administer AstraZeneca's vaccine to people over 65. Meanwhile, Russia's Sputnik-V now has a lot more data and we'll see how this vaccine measures up on the global scale of vaccines. Experts discuss vaccine utility in the real world and the debate around infection and transmission, delaying the second dose to get first doses out quicker and mixing different vaccine brands under extenuating circumstances. Safety remains a big question as the media and social media continue to flag individual cases of severe side-effects and deaths, but we'll look at the data and statistics and how to critically think about the overall safety profile of the vaccine (and when not to panic). Finally, this episode will tackle important future questions such as the need to vaccinate children and how things might look as we attempt to get back to being a global community with travel.

Save Meduza!https://support.meduza.io/enIf you've read anything about Russia's coronavirus vaccine, “Sputnik V,” you know that it's rolling out to the public in October, just as Phase III trials begin — meaning that researchers still have no idea how effective the product actually is. So far, the scientists developing Sputnik V say they've combined Phase I and Phase II testing and confirmed its safety and immunogenicity, but they've yet to compare it to a placebo and the handful of patients already injected were all relatively young and healthy. The Gamaleya Research Institute, which developed Sputnik V, says it hopes to manufacture 3-5 million doses annually, once production is up and running. A handful of other Russian biotech companies will be manufacturing the vaccine, as well. Russia says it's already received orders for a billion doses around the world. Suspiciously and unlike most foreign researchers working on a coronavirus vaccine, the Gamaleya Research Institute has yet to publish any trial results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Despite promises from the Russian team, they haven't shared any details about their vaccine tests with the global expert community. To learn more about Russia's coronavirus vaccine and explore the risks and research behind this product, The Naked Pravda turns to two social scientists: Judyth Twigg, a political science professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University, who studies healthcare in Russia and Eurasia, and Cynthia Buckley, a sociology professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, who works on global health and social demography in Eurasia. “The Naked Pravda” comes out on Fridays (or sometimes weekends).
