On this episode, the guys discuss Google's announcement of the new "Googlebook" (a reported merge of Android and Chrome OS), growing controversy and litigation around iReady and screen time in schools, and a debrief of the recent Canvas/Instructure security incident with guest Michael Klein from the Institute for Security and Technology. Unofficial demo of AluminumOS: https://youtu.be/dXmFIfv_tIA?si=Baw0OInBqJf-IkDD The largest segment is a deep dive into the Canvas/Instructure incident with cybersecurity expert Michael Klein. He walks through the timeline (initial unauthorized activity detected April 29; exfiltration via cross‑site scripting of a free‑for‑teachers account; a later attack that posted extortion notes to some users), the involvement of CrowdStrike, the public claims by the ShinyHunters group, and Instructure's statement about an agreement with the actor. The conversation covers the technical nature of the attack, impacts on confidentiality, integrity and availability (including disruptions to finals/registrar functions), the downstream consequences for integrations with SIS and other edtech systems, and why many institutions remain cautious to reconnect APIs. Michael and the hosts discuss practical guidance and explore policy implications. #idearVlog #Android17 #GoogleIO #Gemini #GoogleGemini #Android #Apple #Siri #AppleIntelligence #GoogleBook #AndroidAuto #InteligenciaArtificial #Tecnologia

In MobileViews 608, I spent some time venting about Microsoft's new "Windows K2" effort to fix the performance and reliability issues in Windows 11—a move that feels long overdue considering, as Jon Westfall noted, the current OS uses React for the start menu rather than native forms. I also shared a warning about expiring secure boot certificates coming in June 2026, which may require manual registry fixes for those whose hardware doesn't receive automatic firmware updates. On the hardware front, my iPhone 15 Pro's battery health is dipping, but I'm hesitant about replacing it with the rumored iPhone Fold. While the larger form factor is appealing, rumors suggest it may lack Face ID and a telephoto lens, both of which are dealbreakers for my mobile photography and daily convenience. Jon shared a surprising shift in his workflow: returning to paper notebooks during meetings to improve interpersonal engagement, while using a Plaud Note device for the actual transcription. He also showcased his latest "vibe coding" success, building a card game app called "Pierogi Palace" in just 48 hours using ChatGPT and Codex to handle everything from the rule set to App Store screenshots. Meanwhile, I offered a mini-rant about Microsoft 365 Copilot, which has turned the once-simple task of scanning my daily doodles into a frustrating five-click process compared to the old, streamlined Microsoft Lens app. Looking ahead to Google I/O, we discussed the rumored "Aluminium OS," an AI-first operating system that aims to merge Chrome OS and Android. We wrapped up with some tech nostalgia, reflecting on the days when the original iPhone and Windows Phone 7 lacked built-in screenshot features—a sharp contrast to today's AI tools that can generate entire apps in a weekend. I also gave a shout-out to my 2019 Anker Bluetooth keyboard, which still works perfectly for my iPad Mini typing needs, proving that some hardware really is built to last.

Today’s headline news for Canadian IT solution providers: Fleet launches inaugural partner program: Open-source device management vendor Fleet has announced its first partner program, officially moving to a 100 percent channel sales model. According to CEO Mike McNeil, every deal will now flow through a partner. The program includes reseller and services tracks, focusing on enabling partners to build recurring revenue around Fleet’s multi-OS platform. For Canadian MSPs, the move presents an opportunity to consolidate device management across Windows, Apple, and Linux environments. Scale Computing introduces Velocity Partner Program: Edge computing and virtualization provider Scale Computing has launched a competency-based Velocity Partner Program. The new model ties advancement to verified capabilities rather than sales volume, aiming to reduce operational friction and accelerate quote-to-close cycles. The company is positioning the program as a way for partners to increase autonomy and capture more professional services revenue. N-able CEO urges measured AI approach: N-able CEO John Pagliuca is advising MSPs to focus on internal efficiency before rushing to monetize artificial intelligence. Pagliuca outlined a three-step journey: efficiency first, safe deployment next, and monetization last. He noted that the revenue opportunity will come from helping SMBs implement AI securely, but MSPs must first master their own data governance and automation. Read Full Transcript Welcome to The Buzz from ChannelBuzz.ca, our brand spanking new daily podcast, giving you the latest headlines for the IT channel community every morning in five minutes or less. I’m Robert Dutt, today is Monday, April 20, 2026, and here’s what’s happening in the channel today. Fleet, the open-source device management platform, has officially launched its inaugural partner program, signaling a hard pivot to a 100 percent channel sales model. Founded in 2020 and born out of an open-source project at Facebook, Fleet’s technology enables organizations to manage and secure IT assets across MacOS, Windows, Linux, Android, and ChromeOS. According to CEO Mike McNeil, every sales deal will now flow exclusively through a partner. The new program features two distinct tracks: a reseller track for co-selling, and a services track geared specifically toward partners looking to build recurring revenue streams through implementation and managed services. For Canadian MSPs managing increasingly complex, mixed-device environments, Fleet offers an infrastructure-as-code approach to endpoint management that can help consolidate tool sprawl. The company is actively recruiting new partners and is reportedly offering financial incentives, including enhanced margins and deal protection, for solution providers who migrate customers away from established competitors like Jamf or Microsoft Intune. Edge computing and virtualization vendor Scale Computing has unveiled its new Velocity Partner Program, shifting decisively away from traditional volume-based tiers to a fully competency-based model. The company says this new structure is engineered to help partners navigate the evolving virtualization market by reducing operational friction and increasing partner autonomy. According to Scale Computing, advancement in the Velocity program is now tied strictly to verified capabilities, ensuring that technical expertise—rather than raw sales volume—drives partner economics. The framework is designed to accelerate quote-to-close cycles and reduce dependency on vendor resources. For Canadian solution providers, this represents a faster path to revenue and far better margin predictability, especially for regional partners who might be penalized by strict volume quotas. The program also focuses heavily on enabling partners to capture more of the total value of each opportunity, specifically by driving professional services revenue around deployments of the company’s SC Platform and edge orchestration solutions. N-able CEO John Pagliuca is advising the channel to take a highly measured approach to the artificial intelligence boom. In a recent interview, Pagliuca outlined a specific three-step journey for MSP AI adoption: efficiency first, safe deployment next, and monetization last. He noted that while the broader industry is rushing toward AI-driven revenue streams, MSPs must first focus on internal productivity gains and establishing data governance. According to N-able, the monetization opportunity will materialize as small and medium-sized businesses seek third-party help to navigate their own AI implementations and security challenges. For Canadian MSPs, this serves as a pragmatic reminder to prioritize internal automation and secure operational foundations before packaging artificial intelligence as a billable service. It echoes broader industry research suggesting that data governance remains a significant hurdle to AI adoption, reinforcing the need for partners to establish internal standards first. Later today on In The Channel, I sit down with OutSystems channel chief Benjamin Yerushalmi to talk about defining the channel for three different technology waves over the years, and why AI is moving more partner revenue opportunities earlier in engagements. And if you haven’t heard it yet, check out our chat with Alex Webb and Leanne Yeatman of F12.net on what they’ve learned from 20 years and 15-plus acquisitions, which dropped on Friday. That’s how we’re seeing the headlines today. I’m Robert Dutt for ChannelBuzz.ca, thanks for listening. Have a great day.

No requiere dependencias externas. The Day I Became a Bird (Hyper Unical Games / No School Games) Aventura narrativa emotiva basada en un cuento ilustrado de origen francés. Scriptorium: Master of the Manuscripts (Jazza Games) Herramienta creativa del estudio detrás de Inkulinati.

Jon Westfall and I were joined by Sven Johannsen for MobileViews Podcast 604. We spent a good portion of the show reflecting on a major milestone: Apple turned 50 on April 1st. Beyond the nostalgia, we dove into Google's latest AI subscription changes and some clever new hardware gadgets.. I've been getting a lot of mileage out of Google AI Pro, and they recently gave their subscription service more value by bumping the storage from 2TB to 5TB for the same $200-a-year price. One of the most impressive new features is NotebookLM's cinematic video creation, which I used to analyze and summarize 18 years of our own podcast history. We also discussed Google Flex OS, which now offers a three-dollar bootable USB stick for people who want a low-barrier way to try Chrome OS on their existing hardware. We shared our "origin stories" with Apple, and it was a fun look back at how the technology evolved:. I also recounted my favorite customer service story from 2010, where an email to Steve Jobs' office resulted in me getting a launch-day iPad despite a UPS delivery delay—and UPS actually made its first-ever Saturday delivery in my region just to get it to me and other iPad pre-order customers.. We revisited the MacBook Neo. While critics focus on the 8GB RAM limit, the build quality is miles ahead of the "plasticky, bendy" Chromebooks that dominate the budget market. Jon noted that his students are the real target for this device; they want to be in the Apple ecosystem but often can't afford the Pro models, making the $499 education price a potential game-changer. We closed out the episode with discussions of the WiFiPorter Sven bought to provide guests to his home with a seamless guest WiFi connection and the MCON magnetic transforming game controller that Jon recently purchased.

Hébergé par Acast. professorjrod@gmail.comWhat if your help desk could solve recurring IT problems in minutes, not hours? In this episode, we explore the backbone of reliable IT support, focusing on clear SOPs that remove guesswork, SLAs that align technical work with business risk, and an effective ticketing flow that transforms scattered fixes into measurable outcomes. Whether you're preparing for a CompTIA exam or seeking practical IT skills development, you'll find valuable insights here. We share real-world examples—from login failures to VPN drops—that demonstrate how documentation, escalation tiers, and knowledge bases reduce time-to-resolution and prevent repeat incidents, making technology education and effective IT support attainable goals. We also get candid about the human side of support. Professionalism is not a soft skill; it is operational. We talk punctuality, clean language, and the kind of active listening that clarifies issues without talking down to users. De-escalation matters, but so do boundaries; you can stay calm without tolerating abuse. And yes, social media can cost you your job—one vague post is all it takes. These habits shape trust with customers and credibility inside the org.To round it out, we map the OS landscape you actually support: Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS on the desktop, plus iOS and Android in the field. We cover MDM realities with JAMF and Google Workspace, why file systems like NTFS and ReFS or APFS and ext4 affect security and performance, and how hardware requirements such as TPM 2.0 should drive upgrade planning. You will leave with a sharper playbook and four cert-style practice questions to test your knowledge. If you found this useful, follow the show, share it with a teammate, and leave a quick review to help others find it. AI Transforms Tech Jobs, Productivity Losses Cost Billions, and Diversity in IT Leadership Stalls

Generative AI is significantly transforming technology jobs, particularly by automating repetitive tasks such as coding and data processing. A recent analysis by Indeed indicates that while many tech skills will evolve, less than 1% are likely to be fully replaced by AI. This shift is creating challenges for organizations, as employees struggle with the overwhelming number of AI tools available, leading to wasted hours and lost productivity. Companies are urged to streamline their operations by implementing unified platforms that can integrate AI effectively, reducing manual tasks and enhancing overall productivity. The issue of AI agent sprawl is highlighted, where organizations may manage numerous AI agents, resulting in chaos rather than transformation. Analysts are reportedly losing an average of 9.1 hours each week due to inefficient workflows, costing companies billions annually. Despite this, many executives mistakenly believe their teams are operating at peak productivity. The podcast emphasizes the need for organizations to measure productivity based on actual output and create operational visibility to unlock growth potential.Diversity in IT leadership is another pressing concern, as the representation of women in technology continues to decline. A recent report reveals that while the number of women in the ICT sector has increased, men still dominate management roles. The exit of thousands of women from tech roles each year is attributed to a lack of career progression and recognition, rather than personal responsibilities. This trend not only affects workplace culture but also has significant economic implications, with billions lost due to decreased productivity and recruitment challenges. Finally, Google is merging Android and Chrome OS to create a new operating system aimed at enhancing AI capabilities on personal computers. This development is expected to impact how IT manages devices, particularly in K-12 and small business markets. Providers are advised to prepare for this shift by developing training and support strategies for clients. The podcast concludes with a call to action for IT leaders to focus on practical solutions to modern challenges, including email security, while also addressing the critical need for diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.Four things to know today00:00 AI Isn't Killing Jobs—It's Killing Repetition.
