Today Sara and Kathy continue their series on the book of Psalms. The Psalms contain details of God’s character. They are compelling and tell us who God is. They bring comfort. This week the Grace Warriors dive into Psalm 91 and we learn the importance of dwelling and abiding in the Father. Psalm 91s author is actually unknown but they believe David possibly wrote it. This Psalm is filled with assurance of his comfort. Our job as believers is to dwell, abide, and remain in Him. It is a secret place that we get to live in and rest in because He promises to take care of us! Give yourself permission to make time in the Word a priority this week. It’s the most important thing you can do with your time. Meet with the Father. Grow in your walk with Him and be filled with assurance that is He is always protecting you.

With Thanksgiving being this week and Christmas being right around the corner, it is easy to get caught up in the little details and lose sight of what is the most important during this season...sitting at the feet of Jesus. Today Sara and Kathy dive into the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10:38-42 and give some insight into the scripture. Do you ever feel over occupied and too busy? *Raises hand*. The interesting part of this story is that Martha serving is not a bad thing. It was the distraction and taking the serving too far that caused her to miss who was in her home. But don't worry, God is at work in EVERY story. Martha was unfortunately losing her joy but Jesus came to her in tenderness. Christ honors them as women and we see a beautiful picture of him meeting both women where they are. Don’t get caught up in having the perfect house and the perfect food this season. Instead, spend time at the feet of Jesus and watch him transform your holiday season by changing your heart and perspective. Choose Him and peace and joy will follow. Have a great Thanksgiving!

We are wrapping up our “I am” series (for now) with the statement "I am complete in Jesus". Today Sara and Kathy recap all of the “I am” statements they have covered throughout the last 11 episodes. Our identity is the root of so many issues so it was important to start the podcast and address the root problem. Many of us struggle to believe who we TRULY are. It is God’s grace for us to be able to embrace who Jesus says we are and when he does, it changes our identity. Actually, it changes everything. We want you to experience the grace that we have (and continue to experience) in finding your identity fully in Christ, because He is enough! He is all you need! One of the best ways to know and believe you are complete in Him is by pouring into the Word of God. It is alive and as you read it, He gives you the heart to believe it. It is a process but remember all scripture is God-breathed and He promises to complete the work He has started! The best thing is that whether you believe it or not, these truths are TRUE about you. Embrace your identity in Jesus this week. Rest in the fact that you are complete because of Jesus and allow that to stir your heart to fall deeper in love with His word.

It is very trendy to “brand” yourself right now and social media is filled with influencers and brand ambassadors. What does it mean to be an influencer? Today Sara and Kathy discuss how we, as Christian women, are all ambassadors for Christ. The way we live our life tells people a story, and as believers we can either be good or bad ambassadors for Jesus. What is the fruit you are showing as a representative of Christ? Are you making people want Jesus with the way you speak or treat people? Do you live in peace or chaos? We have the good news that many people don’t know about and our actions do matter as believers. We have a high calling and to be able to fulfill our role, be useful and eternally significant to the Kingdom, we must know Jesus. Just like influencers must know their product, we must know ours! The best way to be transformed into a useful disciple of Christ is to pursue Him, know Him, believe Him and trust that as you do that, He will change you from the inside out. He truly is all we need and in a world that seems to be falling apart, that is good good news. When we are changed by the gospel, it comes out of us naturally and people crave the peace that comes with knowing and being known by Him. Allow yourself to get curious about Jesus this week, open your bible and see what it means to be an influencer for Jesus. He is better than anything and is more than enough! He is worth it.

We’re talking about: Sara started practicing adoration at a weak point of her life and found herself getting healed by it. “Adoration is talking to God from a raw place...Adoration is just talking to God in the middle of your day.” Romans 12:2, NIV: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Sara found that she couldn’t just stop thinking the bad thoughts that came through her mind all the time, but if she prayed on God’s word it would slowly replace those thoughts. “The more that I put His words in my mouth the more that my thoughts get changed.” 2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” God’s pace for our lives might look dramatically different than our own pace. I gathered my fifteen years like a stack of files and foisted them on the one who’d been watchful, in exchange for a notepad we would fill with our adventures together. At fifteen, surrendering my whole life and my whole heart meant the big picture, not the minutiae. After all, I could remember only four or maybe five of those fifteen years.I imagined that Christianity was lived in broad strokes—as a highlight reel.Minutes were what happened in between."

#030 — Motherhood, Tech Startups and Giving Up Control with Sara Mauskopf of Winnie  Motherhood can be a real revelation for those of us with Type A personalities. As much as we would like to control our own destiny and schedule our lives according to a predetermined plan, parenting simply doesn’t work that way. Life doesn’t work that way. And neither do startups. Sara Mauskopf was already dealing with the surprises that come from being a new mom back at work when she got the idea for a tech startup of her own. With the financial means to move forward and a supportive partner in her husband, Sara realized that while it was not an ideal time to walk away and become an entrepreneur, it would never get any easier. She would never have fewer responsibilities or less on her plate, so she took the leap. Together with her co-founder, Sara created Winnie, a companion app for modern parents. And then her husband was diagnosed with cancer. Resigned to the fact that the new company might die without her, Sara signed off for two weeks to focus on her husband. But when she returned to work, the Beta version of the app was ready to launch. The team had been productive without her, facilitated by the flexible, family-friendly environment in place at Winnie. Today Sara shares the inspiration for her venture, explaining how the app offers parents timely, personalized information as well as answers to basic parenting questions. I ask her about making the decision to found a tech startup as a new mom and establishing the family-friendly work environment at Winnie. Sara discusses her husband’s illness, how she used blogging to ask for help and process in real time, and how the experience changed her perspective on work. Listen in for Sara’s insight on the compatibility between motherhood and startups and her advice around mentorship and networking with women in tech.   FULL SHOW NOTES: Get the complete show notes with episode quotes, photos, and time stamps at www.startuppregnant.com/030.   EPISODE SPONSOR & SPECIAL OFFER: Thank you to the sponsor of this episode: Aeroflow Breastpumps. Today Beryl is chatting with Sara Reimers a mom from the Baltimore-DC area who loves God, loves her family and friends, and loves to have fun! Sarah aims to seek the ever elusive work-life balance and is having a blast keeping up with a beautifully spirited little girl while maintaining her creative spirit through her blog Sunshine Whispers. Today Sara and Beryl chat about: Turning her blog into a resource for moms instead of only a journal of personal stories. How she balances her passion for writing, parenthood, and working a full-time job outside the home. How she's kept up with her passion for music after becoming a mom. How she goes about balancing the business side and creative side of her blog, Sunshine Whispers.
