In this podcast episode, we talk about dating yourself first, embracing your feminine energy, her healing journey, recognizing narcissism, and finding internal validation through soul work. Izzy's energy radiates positive energy and this conversation was so aligned with my own story. This is a very real and vulnerable conversation that makes for a wholesome listen.

She is a certified self-love coach, executive assistant, dedicated mother, a grateful recovering alcoholic, empath, and founder of The Soul Project. Tami has combined these passions and skillsets to support those who are seeking deeper self-awareness, understanding, and growth. Her mission is to empower and heal the lives of women who have lived and experienced trauma, addiction, and self-sabotage behaviors. Tami teaches women to heal themselves through spiritual practices, meditation, intuitive eating, removing limited beliefs, habits, and any blocks that hold them back from living a life they truly deserve. A few years ago, Tami found herself in a very dark place and she turned to drugs and alcohol as a means to escape the harsh reality of a failing marriage, deteriorating mental health, depression, and childhood traumas that had always followed her. In essence, she hated herself and made bad decisions repeatedly, continuously waking up with anxiety, guilt, and shame. For years, it was a continuous vicious cycle of self- sabotage, low self-esteem, and toxic relationships. Tami was completely emotionally and spiritually bankrupt, and never thought she could find the strength inside to change her life around. She doesn't remember the moment when something switched in her; that moment she was finally done living in pain. She just knew she needed help, that she had problem and something needed to change. On her own self-love journey, she has discovered the beautiful parts of her that had been locked away for years.

Our guest host, Katie Revell, invites you to hear a sample of stories from the Soil and Soul project. The stories explore the importance of soil as a precious and threatened living resource for growing our food and how local community groups in Glasgow have worked to connect to and care for their soils. Soil and Soul was a collaboration between the British Society of Soil Science, a Glasgow-based group of artists called Open Jar Collective and Propagate. Propagate are a worker-led collective focused on local, community and sustainable food projects, and the podcasts document soil workshops they run with Glasgow community groups over the last year. The project was supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Soil and Soul podcasts were part of the exhibition at the World Congress of Soil Science, held in Glasgow in August 2022, to highlight to the delegates that “ordinary people” care deeply about soil if they are given the chance. Katie Revell is a podcast producer, a member of the Open Jar Collective and SCCAN's Storytelling Circle. If you'd like to hear more of the Soil and Soul podcasts, you can find them on Propagate website Spotify, Google Podcasts or Soundcloud (search for Open Jar Collective) On Izi Travel audio walking tour app, where you can see a map of the different groups and their locations Credits Production and editing: Katie Revell Music: Blue Dot Sessions

I have created for other women what I know I needed, which is a platform to be seen and to be heard and to be celebrated for being just who you are. -Kristie Dean We all know what it means to receive healing from medicine, but how do you mend a broken heart? How do you heal your soul? Enter Kristie Dean. The mother of three young girls and a gifted photographer, it wasn't that long ago when she was sitting in a parking lot in tears, feeling like she had lost her way. Now the Founder & Director of The Soul Project in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, she is thriving in a community she created that inspires her and so many women, every single day. What started as a safe place where women could come together to tell their stories of struggle, triumph and hope has now expanded to include adolescent workshops and partnerships with survivor led organizations, all working in symphony to heal and empower women once caught up in prostitution and sex trafficking. The Soul Project also extends its heart and hands to widows, widowers and children who have lost a parent. Says Kristie: “Souls hang on to pain. We're giving women a safe platform so that they can release that shame and pain and move on into their most empowered selves.”

Mike Wignall loves the Cambridge community and now that he's retired, he's giving back by volunteering to lead a big project for the Village. On Tuesday, October 5th, it was announced that Cambridge had received a grant of $10,000 and that the grant would be used to fund what the Village is calling the Cambridge Community Heart and Soul Project. For the next several weeks, Mike Wignall and fellow volunteers will be attending public events to gather information from Cambridge residents to find out what residents would like to see more of in Cambridge. The grant will then be used to bring some of those ideas to life. We talked about the Cambridge Community Heart and Soul Project with Mike Wignall on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday.
On today's episode of Soul Project we talk to Bonnie Monteleone, Scientist, Artist, Entrepreneur, ocean advocate, documentary film maker and soo much more! Bonnie began her journey into the plastic ocean crisis in 2009 during her first field study exploring the North Atlantic Gyre while working on her Masters degree at University North Carolina, Wilmington. Since that time Bonnie has collected plastic marine samples globally including from four of the five main ocean gyres, the Caribbean, and Pyramid Lake, outside of Reno, Nevada. Deeply impacted by the devasting reality of the plastic crisis in our oceans and beyond, Bonnie founded the nonprofit Plastic Ocean Project (POP) in 2012 and sits as the Executive Director and Director of Science and Research and Academic Partnerships. Based in Wilmington, North Carolina, POP's mission is to rid the ocean of plastic waste. In addition to running POP, Bonnie works in the Environmental Studies Department at UNC Wilmington as an Adjunct Instructor teaching a Plastic Marine Debris Field Studies course and manages a lab working with student Directed Independent Studies (DIS) research. Furthermore, Bonnie is an accomplished artist who has turned some of the plastics collected on her voyages into modern artistic masterpieces, a traveling art exhibit titled “What Goes Around Comes Around”, which is equally beautiful as it is educational. An accomplished advocate for the ocean, Bonnie's current project is a documentary film titled “If the Ocean Could Talk”, a voice for the North Atlantic slated for release on World Ocean Day June 2022. Please enjoy our conversation as today as Bonnie shares her incredibly inspiring journey to helping save our oceans and beyond! Please check out Plastic Oceans Project's Website and connect on Social media!https://www.plasticoceanproject.orgInstagram: @plasticoceanproject.incFacebook: Plastic Ocean Project
I am so happy to have the brilliant and compassionate Howard Steven Pines on today’s episode. Howard is a retired communication’s engineer whose career spanned over 25 years conducting digital speech and software engineering in Silicon Valley. Twenty years of three to four-hour commutes from Berkeley to Silicon Valley gave Howard lots of time to think about the potential for language and intelligence in big-brained humpbacks. Upon retiring ten years ago, Howard has had the time to pursue his passion and curiosity, combining his knowledge and analytical techniques used during his digital speech career to study humpback whale songs. In doing so Howard has discovered striking similarities in the phonetic and sub-unit architectures of human speech and humpback vocalizations, revealing, as he puts it, “stunning, quantitative evidence for the basis of a potentially complex language”. Howard has presented his research at the last two West Coast meetings of the Acoustical Society of America in Victoria, Canada and San Diego, California. Based on his research findings Howard has written a science-based, marine-mammal protectionist novel about a first-contact breakthrough with humpbacks. He self-published “The Whale Song Translation,” aka TWST, in 2013 on Amazon and a revised edition in 2019 on Amazon Kindle. In our conversation Howard takes us through his journey and shares with us his Soul Project, an incredible idea to implement a technological device that can allow Humpback whales to communicate with humans. As Howard puts it “Because of our cognitive minds and symbolic reasoning, we can never return to that primal natural bond, like the other animals, but we can do something just as good by using our abstract minds to break the communication codes of other big-brained beings, to build a bridge across the species divide and to begin a dialogue, and hopefully even offer them a gift, like the Torch of Prometheus in TWST. We’ve made great scientific discoveries with meaningful existential implications: We’re star dust, Earth is a speck of dust in the galaxies, our beings depend on water, air, and food, our umbilical connection with mother nature. These are discoveries that should make us humble in the scheme of things, not drive us deeper into the bubble of human exceptionalism, i.e. our personal and species ego trip. In my humble opinion, the antidote to human exceptionalism is a paradigm shift to planetary mindfulness. I coined the term, RUSH = Radical Ultra-Secular Humanism; a paradigm-shift to science, mindfulness. Instead of waiting for the Extra Terrestrial’s to contact us, “Break the communication codes of earth’s other big-brained beings and begin to have a dialogue before they are crushed by the juggernaut of human exceptionalism.” – Howard Steven PinesLet’s join Howard in launching The Whale Song Translation Project!! If you or someone you know is interested in the research and wants to join the effort, to bridge the gap between human and Humpback whale communications please email Howard directly at HowardStevenPines@gmail.comWWW.HowardStevenPines.com Acoustical Society’s website: https://asa.scitation.org/doi/10.1121/2.0000957 Follow Soul Project podcast on Instagram @pamelas_soul_project

Welcome to Soul Project I am your host Pamela Henriksen. I am a big believer, as Mahatma Ghandi famously said, that to see change you desire in your world you need to be willing to be the change. So often our society praises a select few for championing change or bringing attention to an issue when the reality is that behind the scenes it was an army of silent warriors that helped accomplish the goal. Mission bound, endlessly giving of their time, energy and resources with the focus to make the world a little kinder for all. My guests today, Terran Baylor and Kery Shaw do just that, they are the quiet and humble warriors spreading compassion, love and light to all those they encounter. Terran and Kerry have been activists for years for both humans and animals. Their journey together started with a mutual love for marine life and raising awareness of the need to end the captivity trade by utilizing their skills and love for film and photography. This led to working with the Dolphin Project in Taiji, Japan by documenting and bearing witness to the dolphin culling and captivity that occurs annually in the infamous cove. Over time their efforts have broadened to include raising awareness to the benefits of a vegan lifestyle, farm animal rescue, dog rescue and humanitarian outreach for our unhoused population. I hope today’s podcasts encourages you show up right where you are and be a blessing to another being. It doesn’t have to be something grand, the smallest of gestures can have just as big of an impact, so let your love and light shine! To learn more please check out The Stolen Lives Project on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thestolenlivesproject/ Animal Place Rescue: https://www.animalplace.orgHerd & Flock Sanctuary: https://herdandflocksanctuary.orgIf you are enjoying the Soul Project podcast please rate, subscribe, review and share.I would love to connect with you on social media!Instagram: Pamela Henriksen’s Soul Project podcast: @pamelas_soul_projectPamela Henriksen: @pameluna26

This week, I am talking with Kristie Dean, Founder of The Soul Project and the Photographer behind Kristie Rae Images. Kristie has a heart for empowering women through honest storytelling. By giving women a platform to share their raw and vulnerable stories, Kristie uses photography to connect women on their soul journeys. When it comes to leaning into your unique gifts, Kristie advocates for sticking to your “special sauce”. By honing your skills and using your gifts, you begin to create a life that allows you to use your strengths everyday. As we discuss comparison in business, Kristie also shares that by doing what lights you up from the beginning, you begin to find your voice. Throughout our conversation, Kristie's biggest passion is evident in changing the “highlight reel” narrative from social media by utilizing empowering imagery and raw storytelling. Its January 26, 2021 and my 45th birthday! Join me as I reflect on my journey so far and explain why Soul Project came into existence. From my early years of climbing trees and digging for worms to the struggles of school and fitting in and the heartbreak of dreams postponed. I tell my story of how living with ADHD has shaped my life, the challenges it presented and how I over came them. As the journey continues I have learned to follow my curiosity as I continue down the path of my Soul Project.
One of the major components to my Soul Project is music! I am a classically trained vocalist with a love for expressing myself musically through singing, playing acoustic guitar and songwriting. Music has been a lifelong love of mine and when I meet musicians, my soul lights up and my today's guest is no exception!Guillermo Otero is a singer/songwriter from Mexico City, Mexico. Guillermo’s musical style is described as pop rock with Latin roots in which he utilizes a variety of instruments including ukulele, piano and acoustic guitar to accompany his smooth, soulful vocals. Guillermo’s songwriting is a reflection of his genuine and charismatic nature and real life stories.Guillermo’s musical career began in 2010 and in 2014 it began to pick up momentum after a cover song “Sobre El Arco Iris" ("Somewhere Over the Rainbow") reached over 150,000 plays on YouTube in just 6 months, and in 2016 his first single "A Veces," charted in the Top 50 on national radio. In July 2017 Guillermo’s debut album, titled “Yo Soy Yo” (I am Myself) was released by Universal Music Mexico, becoming available all over the globe. Since that time Guillermo has, shared stages and worked with many well known artists.I welcome you to join us as Guillermo takes us through his musical journey and shares with us why 2020 was such a blessing for him and the exciting new chapter that is about to begin. You can check out Guillermo’s music at www.gomusicago.comYoutube channel Guillermo Otero - G.O.Instagram @gomusicagoTwitter @gomusicago

Hello, I am Pamela Henriksen and this is Soul Project! On this, my first official episode I talk with Deb Henriksen founder and designer for Equillibrium, a sustainable streetwear brand. Deb is an incredibly talented, intelligent and passionate fashion designer based in Denver, Colorado, she also happens to be my sister! With a degree in Environmental Health and a background in environmental consulting and hazardous waste management Deb has developed a keen awareness for environmental issues. In 2000 Deb combined her long-time passion for fashion and design with her environmental awareness and love of Colorado skate culture and created Equillibrium. A pioneer in sustainable fashion, Deb has made her mark on the Denver fashion scene. Combining inspiration from her science background, fashion roots, skate/punk culture and environmental activism Deb creates unique garments using carefully curated sustainable textiles. Join us as we talk about her journey….and the lifelong quest of Equillibrium You can find Equillibrium here : www.Equillibrium.com
I am Pamela Henriksen and this is Soul Project.I created Soul Project as an outlet for my endless curiosity. Life can be misleading and demanding wanting our singular attention at all times. Growing up I struggled to stay focused and invested in a sole thing. I often heard, and often still do, you need to focus, pick one thing! It wasn’t until my college years that I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and I started to understand my struggle as a hidden gift. It is not in my nature to focus on a single talent, hobby, or dream because I have many and to deny any one would be to deny a part of myself. I am curious by nature and I never want to stop exploring. I am incredibly passionate about the ocean, singing, biology, wine, playing guitar, the environment, surfing, painting and soo much more. It has taken me a long time to learn that leaning into my nature and all that makes me unique is the purest path to take. I have abandoned the notion that to be successful in life I need to focus on a sole project and instead have embraced the journey of my SOUL Project. In the Soul Project podcast I will be sharing an eclectic mix of conversations with inspiring Entrepreneurs, scholars, artists and activists on topics that peak my curiosity and passion. I look forward to having you join us and hope to inspire you to follow your curiosity and embrace your soul project!
In today's podcast I have the pleasure to introduce you to Life & Leadership coach Olga Romanillos. Olga is living with her husband in the Netherlands and working internationally on exciting projects. I've met Olga in the first weekend of our coach training back in 2006 and we became close friends since then. Olga is co-founder of the Moving Your Soul Project - a different way to be with Alzheimer (www.movingyoursoul.com). In the Rewild women Retreat and her life coaching she empowers professional women to reclaim and remember who they really are and bring that true nature back into their work and life (www.olgaromanillos.com). Listen to this valuable podcast and learn: *How Olga loves being on her own stage and how it is possible for all of us to create one. *How many women (and men) put themselves in a cage without realizing it, and what you can do about it once you know. *What we often restrict in ourselves (unconsciously) when we have to deal with dementia of loved ones. *What the true meaning is of being a wild woman (and it is not what you think it is). *Olga's perspective on being unlimited and how you can see it differently. *What her singing teacher asked her to do when she was disclosing a very vulnerable live event. And so much more! Put your earplugs in, find a quiet space and let yourself be inspired, supported and empowered to step into your most unlimited self. Listen and enjoy! But what if everyone shared the intimate, raw, and unedited truths they are really going through? In this episode I talk with Kristie Dean. Kristie is the mastermind behind The Soul Project. The Soul Project is all about compassion, self-love and being a part of a supportive tribe. Gathering, listening to, and sharing stories strengthens the fabric of the community by bringing people together in conversations about what they love about where they live and what they’d like to change. Hearing from residents can also lead to discoveries that the community immediately rallies around, such as an 1870s African-American church in Pennsylvania or a historic theater in Colorado. Three speakers, each with different but meaningful experiences, share how storytelling enriches a community and leads to positive change. Speakers: - Mimi Iijima is the Director of Programs and Special Projects for Pennsylvania Humanities Council. Mimi leads PHC’s effort to strengthen communities through the humanities and by bringing Community Heart & Soul to towns in the Keystone state. - Dani Smith is the great-great-granddaughter of a Civil War soldier who served in the U.S. Colored Troops. Story gathering by the Greater Carlisle Heart & Soul Project led to the discovery of an 1870s African-American church and cemetery, where Dani’s family discovered their ancestor. Her family has since been instrumental in the early steps of preservation of the church and cemetery. - Elaine Brett is a resident of the North Fork Valley in Colorado. She was active in that community’s Heart & Soul project and played a key role in creating the nonprofit that bought and renovated the town’s historic Paradise Theatre, relying on a state grant and funds raised locally and globally online. She has over thirty years of experience in facilitation, strategic planning and management in commercial, non-profit, and governmental sectors. Currently, she is on the boards of The Friends of the Paradise Theatre, the Western Colorado Community Foundation, and Downtown Colorado, Inc. -Fran Stoddard is a communications consultant with Orton and will serve as the moderator for this event. A national award-winning producer of video programs, Fran served as producer and host of Vermont Public Television’s weekly “Profile” interview program for more than a decade. She frequently serves as moderator for community events and has served on numerous non-profit boards including the Hunger Free Vermont, the Vermont Journalism Trust, Vermont Mozart Festival, Burlington City Arts, Vermont International Film Foundation, and Vermont Public Radio.
