In this episode, Brian Delamont returns to the podcast to talk with Keane and Heather about Romans 12:2 — what it means to be transformed by renewal of our minds, rather than being conformed by the world. Romans 12:1-2 “God is the master designer of all transformation. Since He created humanity in His image, He has the most precise and the most boundless understanding of what we can become in His design.” 1 Peter 1:14 “It's a moment by moment discipline to think and live in the Holy Spirit's path for us.” “This is what He intends for us – not to be squeezed into something we're not, but rather to have every aspect of our lives be everything He knows it can be.” “metamorphoo” - Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Matthew 17:2, Mark 9:2 “The glory God has for us is revealed as we do the things our Father does and live the lives He intends for us to live. Our transformation shatters the power the mold of conforming wants to put on us and reveals more and more of the glory of God in our lives and in our world.” Vision (the desired outcome), Intention (deciding to do it), Means (the way or ways to achieve the desired outcome) Titus 3:5 “Transformation challenges all of how I live as a human, and for renewal to happen I need to make a commitment to transformation.” “Changed thinking both comes from and results in a changed brain - literally, a renewed mind.” October Reflection:  What is your vision? (Do you genuinely want to be transformed?)  What is your intention? (You must decide to change.)  What is your means? (What action steps will you take to move towards the change God has for you?) Today I'll share some of the places in my own life that feel like they could leave me hopeless, and I'll also share some of the ways I'm practicing some rhythms that are more helpful than the run of the mill, anger, frustration or pit of despair, that feels most familiar.

We all have limitations, don't we? Whether we recognize them or not, they exist and can lead to frustration as we try to meet our goals, chase our dreams, or simply get through the day. It would be so much better if those limits weren't there at all, right? But what if those areas of your life you resent the most—the places where you feel the most overextended—are actually the doorways to rich intimacy with God? What if your limitations were, in fact, your greatest gift? Well today, you'll hear from writer, speaker, and mother of seven Sara Hagerty who knows the constraints of limitations. Yet she has also seen how the boundaries of our life circumstances can bring about growth and satisfaction we'd never experience otherwise. Sara will help you identify your limitations, know when to embrace them and when to challenge them, and all the while, experience God's strength in your weakness. What do we do with all of our limitations? How do we begin to reframe the limits of our bodies and our lives in a way that allows God to use the boundary lines He has placed around us? For speaker, author and mom of seven, Sara Hagerty, it was the many limits of her journey with infertility, motherhood, walking her kids through their own pain and grief after adoption, and the daily reminders of her finite ability to deal with all the challenges she was facing that led her to look at what God may be doing in her limitations. In her latest book, The Gift of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries, Sara explores how our limits may actually be the grace of God rather than a withholding of something better. In this insightful conversation, Davey and Sara talk about what God may be doing in our limitations, how we can find the beauty in the small, and the power of naming our limits. If you've ever found yourself discouraged by the very things that reveal your humanity, this episode will encourage you to reframe the way you see the boundaries in your life and find beauty in the gift of your God-given limitations.   Website: www.SaraHagerty.net Instagram: www.instagram.com/SaraHagertyWrites Book: The Gift of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries https://a.co/d/jj81y96 Be a part of launching the Nothing is Wasted Book into the world by joining us on Thursday, August 1 in Indiana. Do you feel as if you are always measuring yourself as a mom? Do you feel like the pressure to keep up with moms around you is overwhelming? Do you feel snappy or resentful at your kids and husband? Today, author Sara Hagerty joins me to talk about her new book, The Gift Of Limitations. She is a wife and mom of seven with four adopted kids. Sara shares how we often find ourselves daydreaming about other seasons and how to recognize our limits and give ourselves grace without shame and complaining. When we name our limits we can actually grieve them and let God give us the story He is intricately weaving for our families. Society tells us we can be limitless, we can optimize everything, but Sara reminds us that the limits and plot twists in our life are all from a good Father who is at work in our stories.  Connect with Sara Hagerty:  Website:   Sara Hagerty Facebook: Sara Hagerty Instagram:  Sara Hagerty (@sarahagertywrites) Links Mentioned:   The Gift of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries: by Sara Hagerty Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet: Tasting the Goodness of God in All Things: by Sara Hagerty Unseen: The Gift of Being Hidden in a World That Loves to Be Noticed: by Sara Hagerty Related Episodes: When You Feel Unseen :: Sara Hagerty [Ep 175] Every Bitter Thing is Sweet :: Sara Hagerty [Ep 143] Help When You Feel Weak :: Lisa Whittle [Ep 170] Featured Sponsors:  BetterHelp: This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Have you ever felt stretched to your limits or frustrated by your limits? Maybe you really wish they didn't exist or you could make them magically go away! If you find yourself there, today's episode is for you!   I am joined today by Sara Hagerty. Sara is a bestselling author, speaker, wife and homeschooling mother of 7 - four adopted from Africa and three through surprise miracle pregnancies.   Sara says she “has found significance of words whispered in hidden places as conversation with God and worship to God as well as written in tearful honesty and shared with her readers”. She has walked through hard seasons of infertility and faced significant health struggles which have revealed her physical and mental limitations, opening the door for the Lord to meet her there with tenderness, compassion and His strengths.   Today, we discuss her newest book, The Gift Of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries, and talk through questions like “What if your greatest weaknesses - the areas of your life you resent the most, the places where you feel the most overextended and unfulfilled - are your doorway to rich intimacy with God? “ What if your limitations were, in fact, your greatest gift?” Sara has seen, firsthand, how the boundaries of our life circumstances can bring about growth and satisfaction we would never experience otherwise. So grab a notebook & pen (you'll definitely want to jot these practical truths down) and join me as we learn to name our limitations and see them as beautiful weaknesses drawing us closer to the Lord, slowing down the cadence of life and ultimately creating a heart that is truly at rest in the Father.   For more information on Sara and her books, please visit https://sarahagerty.net/

Stasi welcomes back writer, speaker, wife, and mother Sara Hagerty to discuss her new book, The Gift of Limitations. Sara writes, “What if your greatest weaknesses, the areas of your life you resent the most…are your doorway to rich intimacy with God? What if your limitations were, in fact, your greatest gift?” With vulnerability and wisdom, Sara encourages us to name the limitations we face, so we can both grieve them and surrender them to God. From there, we can lean into the love of God knowing he is already moving in our lives, rest in the goodness of his plan, and uncover a deeper capacity for joy.…..SHOW NOTES:…..VERSES: Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) — Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Now you know me, Enneagram seven, more is always better, but I feel this topic, the gift of our limitations so deeply because it's how God develops us so often and how he points us to where he wants us to focus in life. Sarah is absolutely brilliant and you are going to love her. Sara Hagerty is a bestselling author and Jesus follower. She has written four books, including her most recent release, The Gift of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries As a writer, speaker, and mother of seven, Sara Hagerty knows what limitations feel like. Join Sara and I as we talk about: How our limitations can be blessings Identifying and grieving our limitations How to surrender to our limitations in a healthy way The effects of social media on our emotional health How to live in the boundaries God has given us in a healthy way Favorite quotes:  7:10: “Comparison puts us constantly noticing our limitations against someone else who doesn't have them.”   8:39: “There are all different flavors that women experience, but the reality is every day we wake up to our limitations.” 11:03: “We often don't actually name our limitations, so there is an ache underneath our limits that needs to be grieved with God. But we live at such a surface level where we don't name our limits, so we can't grieve them. “ 14:11: “There is something significant about noticing ourselves because then we can actually have something we can bring to God.”  23:29: “The “sigh of life” is surrender and a sigh that comes after the grief of our limitations.” Coaching this week:  How to Deal with Toxic People (29:21 Audio) Links to great things we discussed:  Sara Hagerty Website Sara Hagerty  Instagram The Gift of Limitations Hereos - Ben Rector A Hidden Life Toups & Co. In today's conversation, we explore how idealism, while often celebrated, can impede personal growth, fostering dissatisfaction and burnout. So many messages, particularly those heard in leadership circles, urge us to move past our limits. No pain no gain. This message is loud and clear at the gym, and some of us even hear it at church. Sometimes it's subtle. Sometimes it's in your face. “See what you're made of!”    Don't get us wrong, we love a good challenge, but we also believe many of us have a false view of our actual capacities. The pace of our lives says something. At times we might find ourselves feeling like it's all too much. Too much laundry and too many bills. Too many appointments, meetings, and responsibilities. Too many open tabs on our browser. We go to bed exhausted, too tired to enjoy a few minutes with our own thoughts.    What if learning to accept our human limits allows us to fully reach our potential? In our work, especially with our Wholehearted Leadership Cohorts, we often say, “Wholehearted leaders learn to love their limits.” We explore this idea of limits, accepting our circumstances and fences that appear in our lives, with our guest, Sara Hagerty. As a driver and leader herself, she has experienced infertility, illness, loss and much more.    Sara Hagerty is a bestselling author and Jesus follower. She is the wife and mother of seven – four adopted from Africa and three through miracle pregnancies. Her first book, Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet (2014), ponders the conflict inherent when life's expectations do not meet up with reality. Her latest book, The Gift of Limitations: Finding Beauty in Your Boundaries (March 2024), illustrates how our greatest weaknesses are the doorway to rich intimacy with God. God especially loves to meet us in the hiddenness of our everyday moments, because his best work is within us, in the secret depths of our hearts. To adore Jesus in the midst of the hard and the challenging as well as the soaring and serene, Sara has learned, is the key to truly experiencing his boundless love, his immeasurable strength.SHOW NOTES:Sara Hagerty Bio:Sara is a wife to Nate and a mother of seven whose arms stretched wide across the expanse between the United States and Africa. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.James 1:2-4 (NIV) — Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And out of the overflow of this perplexity, came her writing, both on her blog and in her books – Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet & Unseen: The Gift of Being Hidden in a World that Loves to be Noticed, and ADORE: A Simple Practice for Experiencing God in the Middle Minutes of Your Day, all three published by Zondervan.Sara's Website | Sara's InstagramThings mentioned in today's episode:Prayer Journal by Val Marie PaperPray Confidently and Consistently by Valerie WoernerYou Satisfy My Soul by Laura Hackett ParkAdore by Sara HagertyVal's new book on prayer is now available! Go to valmariepaper.com/pray to order Pray Confidently and Consistently, get our no-fail leader's guide, and more! Want a journal designed to help you focus in prayer? Try our monthly format designed to be filled out once at the beginning of the month really intentionally.
