Immeasurably More // New Identity Ephesians 4:17-32 (NIV)“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Arrogance of Our age. By Pastor George Lehman “Arrogance is knowledge minus wisdom.” – Celso   Isaiah 40:25-26 - 25To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal to him? Says the Holy One. 26Lift up your eyes on high and see! Who has created these? He Who brings out their host by number and calls them all by name; though the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything. Isaiah 40:28 - 28Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.   Psalm 89:14 - Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before your face.   Hebrews 10:31- It is a fearful (formidable and terrible) thing to incur the divine penalties and be cast into the hands of the living God.    Philippians 2:3 - “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves. (This is a call to a certain behaviour)   Arrogance: (Arrogansie, voorbarig) is over-confidence, overbearing pride, in self – in self's abilities and self's-reliance. We know the truth but still choose to live arrogantly. We need to always recognize God in everything.   A spiritual atmosphere is what James addresses. James 4:13-17 (Amp) - 13 Come now [and pay attention to this], you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and carry on our business and make a profit.” 14 [a]Yet you do not know [the least thing] [b]about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air]*. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast [vainly] in your pretension and arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin. Merely a vapor… [into thin air]* - It is God who gives us breath. Acts 17:25-26 (NIV) - 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. We all know and have seen the effects that a Recession has on an Economy. A recession is a consistent decline in overall economic activity resulting in the loss of jobs, rate hikes – just a downturn in our economy. If we honest we all have times of decline - We all know the meaning of a spiritual recession. James wasn't interested in the economic recession, but in the recessions that plague many hearts. The roots of spiritual recession are the same as the roots of any other kind of recession. According to James the roots are threefold: #1 Spiritual recession in your life can result from foolish presumptions* (Vermetal – astrant) *Presumptuous – Forgetting your limits; disobedience; being disrespectful arrogant. James 4:13 (Amp) – Come now [and pay attention to this], you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make a profit.” James 4:15 (NIV) – Instead you ought to say, “if it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.” This person lives as if tomorrow will never come The obsession is with making money and enjoying the pleasures of this world. God is not our first priority; things are! Materialism is his master, motivated by greed. Nothing indicates that this is a bad person – acting unethical or unprofessional. However, his problem is his Attitude not his Actions. His attitude produces his actions. He made all his plans without any consideration of God whatsoever. James called him out: “You boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.” He forgot: James 4:15 (NIV) - 15Instead, you ought to say, “if it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.” Proverbs 27:1 (NIV) – Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. So, what motivates you? You first do it - then ask God's approval. The warning for us is plane: Don't make presumptions about the future without consulting God. God always knows best. Ephesians 3:20 (Amp) – Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us. #2 Spiritual recessions can also result from “Forgotten perspectives” God ultimately has the final say over my life James 4:14 (NIV) - Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. That's why James reminded us that our lives are like: “A Vapor that appears for a little time and then it vanishes away .” It's easy to brush right over this verse: But imagine you were caught in a fox hole with bombs exploding near to you. Most times life and death are forgotten perspectives (you're so fixated on the details and what is directly in front of you that you can't see the bigger picture). People live as though this life is all there is For too many people act and live as if they have a Ninety nine year lease with an option to renew. James asked – “What is your life?” Many highly educated – Scientists & Philosophers have never been able to satisfactorily answer this question… As Christians we know life doesn't end when our physical bodies die. The bible answers the question. 1 Chronicles 29:15 (NIV) – “Our days on earth are as a shadow.” 2 Samuel 14:14 (NIV) – Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him. A fable is told of a Bagdad merchant who sent his servant to the market to pick up some goods for him. While the servant was making the purchases in the marketplace he found himself face to face with Death! In great fear he returned to his master and told him that Death had given him a menacing look and that he must have a horse so he could escape to Samara, a city some distance away. The master quickly gave his servant a horse, then went to the marketplace to find Death. When he found him he asked, "Why did you give my servant a menacing look?" Death replied, "I wasn't looking at him menacingly, I was merely surprised to see him here in Bagdad; for, you see, I have an appointment with him tonight in Samara." Each of us has our own appointment. Don't allow foolish presumptions or forgotten perspectives to distract you. Amos 4:12 (NIV) - “…..prepare to meet your God,….”   → Thunders down through the centuries “Prepare to meet God” #3 Spiritual Recessions can also occur because of “Forsaken priorities” In James's words “To Him who knows to good and does not do it, to Him it is Sin.” James 4:15-17 (NIV) - 15Instead, you ought to say, “if it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.” 16As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil, 17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James is calling us to get our priorities in order and remember the bottom line when we make any plans… “If it be the Lords will.” James was just saying → Matthew 6:33 (Amp) - But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. To avoid Spiritual Recession, we need to keep our priorities straight. What is God's will? → It's His Word. Forsaken priorities come when we stray from God's way and will in our lives. James 4:17 (NIV) – Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. It's not only the sins of willful outward acts of disobedience But it's also not doing what we know is right and not doing it. May we say what Jesus said (and mean it) Matthew 26:39 (Amp) - And after going a little farther, He fell face down and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible [that is, consistent with Your will], let this cup [a]pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”

Do you remember what it was like falling in “like” with your spouse?  What was it that originally drew you to them? Maybe it was their humor, kindness, or how they made you feel seen and appreciated. Over time, it's easy for that “like” to fade.  Instead, criticism, judgment, or even indifference creeps in.  But imagine being in your spouse's shoes—everything they say and do, examined under a magnifying glass, critiqued and picked apart. That kind of scrutiny doesn't help them thrive. And nothing wounds deeper than feeling that the person you chose, the one closest to you, doesn't actually like you. What if, instead, you accepted their weaknesses and quirks? After all, they have them, and so do you.  What if you chose to see their strengths instead? What if you noticed what they're doing right and spoke it out loud? I want to encourage you to take that step. Scripture is clear about encouragement and loving our neighbors: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV) “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves” Philippians 2:3 (NIV) “Love one another with brotherly affection. That you still like them. That you're rooting for them, not against them. It's amazing what a little grace and encouragement can do to rebuild connection and joy. Episode Summary:  Have you ever prayed fervently for something for years, or even decades and began to doubt that God would answer your prayers? My guest on today's episode is Bunny Yekzaman who prayed for over 20 years for her Muslim husband to receive God's gift of salvation. Her journey took a powerful turn when she learned to pray in faith and release control to God's timing. Thought it was a painful time in her life, Bunny shares how God redeemed that pain, bringing beautiful sacred scars in place of her painful wounds.    Quotables from the episode: Sometimes we create wounds ourselves and we don't even realize we are doing it. I was raised to not marry an unbeliever. I was told “don't do this” or “don't do that” but there was really no education as to why. But there are important principles in God's word about why we shouldn't be unequally yoked—it's an element of protection that God puts around us if we will just obey his word. Sometimes we don't really mean to disobey Him, but sometimes we just really don't understand that that protection is coming from God. I knew not to marry an unbeliever, but I didn't understand why. Was that really from God, or was that just another rule to follow? When I got into college, I met a man who was totally on the other side of the world from me. He was raised Muslim, raised in Iran, came here to go to school, denounced his beliefs, accepted the communist teaching and was teaching that in an undergraduate class at the college I attended. When they told me to stay away from him, it just made me want to run toward him. When I realized that I was a believer and he was an unbeliever, I began to think that maybe this was supposed to be my goal: to change this man so I spent 8 years trying to change him. We knew each other for eight months and then got married. Nobody said it would work, and it almost didn't because I did step into a relationship unequally yoked. We think love is going to cure everything, but there is not true love where there isn't a relationship with Christ. So maybe I had this deep abiding love for Jesus and for my husband, but my husband couldn't understand that because he didn't know the love of Christ. I went for years, trying to prove to him who Christ was and that he needed to know Jesus. I raised our children in the church, and it became a real battle because he began to believe that he was in competition with God. I realized that I had stepped outside of God's will when I married him. I prayed and prayed for his salvation, and I learned how to love my husband with the love of Christ and not expect anything in return. He was a great husband and a great father in all other aspects, but it angered him that the children and I were praying for him and that I could have this confidence that when I died, I would go to heaven. In the Muslim faith there was an evidence of works in everything they did, so even though he denounced his faith, he couldn't understand how the gift of eternal life was based on God's grace. It took about 20 years of marriage before I really started seeing change. My children were on a mission trip, and I was at home, on my knees again praying for God to save my husband when I sensed a gentle voice in my spirit saying, “Bunny, don't ask me again.” The Bible talks about being persistent in prayer, so I didn't understand what God meant. There are three reasons why we often continue to plead with God to answer our prayers: 1) impatience, 2) wanting to be in control, and 3) not believing God for his answer. God was showing me that I was asking him for my husband's salvation, but I wasn't asking in faith—I was asking in doubt. We can have confidence when we pray. There is no shred of doubt that when we ask God according to his will, it will be done. But that means we have to know what his will is. If I'm praying for someone's salvation, that's God's will. And if I believe that's God's will, and it is, then I can have a confident assurance that God is going to do what he said he is going to do. I can hold onto that promise and it changes the way I pray! After that, I stopped praying asking God to save my husband, and began praying, “Thank you God for saving my husband.” I'm thanking God for what he said he would do. He wants us to have faith. Faith isn't believing after we see it, it's believing before we see it. When I realized God's word is true, I wasn't trusting in me, I was trusting Him. Ultimately, my husband gave his life to Christ, he surrendered to the ministry, went to seminary, and has been the pastor at the nursing home where I work for three years now. Get out of God's way. Get on your knees and thank God in advance for whatever it is you're praying for, and trust him. Don't pray with an agenda. Praying believing God will answer, but then surrender the how and the when to him. That way he gets the glory, but we get to witness God's goodness and faithfulness. God has never and will never go back on a promise. If you stop getting into God's word, that's when the flesh takes over.  The flesh will start questioning and doubting when you aren't studying God's word. God's word is where you will find the strength, the wisdom, the courage, the faith, and everything you need to push through your painful trial. The enemy will do everything he can to try to doubt God. Hold onto God's promises. The only strength that you have is God's word. The longer a tea bag stays in boiling water, the stronger that tea becomes. Likewise, the more we stay in God's word, the stronger we become, not in our own strength but in His, so that when those trials come, we can stand steadfast on those promises we know. Have you been told you need to break, harness, control, nip in the bud, or any other such phrase in regard to your child's will and you're feeling the pressure to conform? We have some godly encouragement for you instead today on this episode about how Strong Will Does Not Equal Defiance. Strong will is another way of labeling the determination, drive, and spirit that does not give up easily. How the strong will is applied is what makes the difference. Is the will coming from a place of rebellion against God and what He wants or rebellion against cultural pressures and sin?Philippians 2:3-4 Pray that God will help them to SURRENDER their will to HimRomans 6:13 (NIV) - Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. Correction and not condemnation, especially in the words we speak over them.Do not want to speak bondage, death and destruction over their wills and lives but instead speak freedom, life, and build them up. Not interested in teaching a child to CONTROL their own will because they are incapable of doing so in their own strength. Commit instead to leading your children through discipline and discipleship to SURRENDER their will to the Lord who loves them most. They have a Savior who loves them and has a better way for them than anything they could ever manipulate or try to control on their own. We should seek to humbly discipline and disciple our children in a way that honors God because He has lovingly entrusted us to shepherd them!Ephesians 6:1 Their sin is more obvious - this is a plus Be calm, clear, and CONSISTENT, do what you say you will do, and help them understand their personal responsibility in the choices they make with their will. Correction and not condemnation Galatians 6:9 Let's not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. We want to raise children that are not conformed to the things of this world but transformed for mighty kingdom work and they will NEED strong wills for these battles! I felt particularly disappointed after an event I helped host at the church, which, in my opinion, had flopped. Taking it personally, I shamefully informed the Lord, “I am exhausted from this, so it is someone else's turn to step up to the plate because I am taking a break.” Little did I know that the next week, within days of each other, we would learn that two close friends of ours passed away.  To say that this sad news rocked my world was an understatement. I couldn't help but wonder if I could have done more for them. I was reminded of the verse in  Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  I prayed, “Lord, I am burdened and weary and do not see a time when I can rest.  Please show me how I can rest in You and do Your work.”    I didn't need a break from ministry and serving others; I needed a perspective shift.  Instead of seeing ministering as helpful or loving obedience to God, It was just another task on my spiritual to-do list.  I wanted to give up on people after there was no evidence of changes in their behavior or lifestyle, and this is precisely what our greatest enemy wants us to do and believe: that our actions for God are meaningless and useless.   Satan wants us to give up, to cease fighting for souls around us, and especially to stop encouraging other Believers in Christ.  Jesus called Satan the father of lies, one who seeks to devour us, to tear us down in mind, heart, and spirit, crippling all efforts to bring God glory.    True, we may never witness the lasting impressions a kind word, a note, or a meal leaves on people -- the smile directed to a woman in the grocery store who is in an abusive relationship, the money sent to a nearby family who struggles to pay bills or the hug given to a grieving parent.   In a world of instant gratification, we want to know right then and there that our actions have meaning and produce results.   I, indeed, am guilty of this.   One of the friends referenced above was a firm Believer, and I always knew what a blessing she was to others, but in days and weeks after her death, the stories of her never-ending compassion and love for others poured out.  On the surface, her acts of kindness appear to be small and simple; she probably had no idea of their effect, but no doubt, they had a vast, eternal impact on the lives she touched.  I remember distinctly the day she asked me to pray about her fostering a child.  Astonished, I exclaimed, “Are you crazy? Why would you, a young, single, small business owner with many things going on, want to take on that?”  She just smiled, “Because there is a child out there who needs my help, and I feel God calling me to do more.”   This sister in Christ was not living for herself or man's approval but for God.  She put others first and her comfort second, a true testimony of Christ in her life. When I want to settle back to give someone else a go because I'm tired or discouraged, I will think about Christ's love for me and my sorely missed friend, who, though weak and weary, faithfully lived this command. If our hearts aren't aligned with God's Kingdom, even financial success can feel empty. So let's talk about creating an impact that lasts, not just in this life but in eternity." Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV): Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. We live in a world that tells us success is measured by our bank account or the things we own. But Jesus flips that on its head. He reminds us that true wealth is found in heavenly treasures, not earthly ones. What are those heavenly treasures? It's the impact we make in the lives of others, the love we give, the way we bring God's Kingdom to earth.  This may convict you as you look at the amount you give to God's Kingdom.  Money is not evil, but what you do with your money matters.  As you give freely, God gives freely.  We have seen this over and over again.  If we are praying about how much to give in a certain situation and the Holy Spirit gives a large number that seems out of reach to give to something. God always returns it in different ways as we listen and are obedient. Do not be someone that clenches your fist closed, but someone that lives with an open hand of generosity…..that is when you will see money easily flow in and flow out. We live frugally so we can give freely.  I don't care if I have new vehicles or material items as trying to impress others isn't my jam~I would rather be walking the straight, narrow, and obedient path with God because that is really the only way to find real lasting peace and joy. Let's get real for a moment. Money can provide comfort and security, but it's not the end goal. If we chase wealth without knowing why we want it, we can easily lose sight of what's truly important. As Christians, we need to ask ourselves: How are we using our resources—whether time, talent, or money—for God's glory? Luke 16:10 (NIV) says, Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.' This teaches us that it's not about how much you have; it's about how you use what God has given you. Like I said before~Money in itself isn't evil. It's a tool. It can be used for good, to bless others, to grow ministries, to support families in need. But if we're not intentional about making a Kingdom impact, that tool can become a trap. The real question is: What impact are you making? Are we using your resources to spread the gospel, to serve others and to make the world a reflection of God's love? In Proverbs 11:25, it says, A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.' When we focus on pouring into others, God pours back into us. So how do we start creating a Kingdom impact with the resources we have? Here are a few  practical steps: Align Your Finances with Your Faith: Make sure you're giving back—whether it's to your church, missionaries, or charitable causes. Tithing is more than just a financial transaction; it's a declaration that God comes first. Invest in People, Not Things: Use your resources to lift others up. This could be by mentoring someone, giving to those in need, or simply being there for people in your community. Your time is just as valuable as your money. Pray for Wisdom: James 1:5 tells us to ask for wisdom, and God will provide it generously. Pray for discernment in how you manage your resources and where God is calling you to invest for His Kingdom." There was a time in my life when I was focused on financial goals, thinking that would bring me peace. But no matter how much I earned, there was a hole that nothing could fill. It wasn't until I started using my resources to help others that I found true joy and fulfillment. The Bible was right all along: It's more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35) 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV): 'And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.' "God is not only concerned with blessing us financially but also empowering us to use that blessing to create a lasting impact in His Kingdom. When we keep our eyes on Him and His purpose, everything else falls into place." So I want to leave you with a challenge this week. Take some time to pray and ask God where He is calling you to make an impact. It could be with your time, your talents, or your finances. Remember, money means nothing if it's not used for a higher purpose, and that purpose is to glorify God and expand His Kingdom. NEW SERIES: Do Not Be Afraid This guided Christian meditation on John 14 reminds us that Jesus leaves us peace, so we do not need to be afraid. Some say there are 365 verses of Scripture that tell us not to be afraid, one for each day. I'm not sure that's entirely accurate, but here's what I do know: Scripture speaks about fear A LOT. There is no shortage of things that make us feel fear.  However, we actually have very little control over much of what causes us to feel fear, which means the feeling of fear isn't doing us any favors.  Fear preoccupies our hearts and minds, causes us to lose sleep, and causes our bodies to experience an overload of stress. Unnecessary fear is simply a tool the enemy uses to render us ineffective.  And that's why the Bible speaks to fear over and over again. God doesn't want us to fear because he wants us to thrive, live in trust and peace, and remember that he has good plans for us. Jesus knew this would be our struggle, so he stated: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Find a quiet space, take a few deep breaths, and allow Jesus' words to lead you to his peace. Maybe it's just something you've been praying for and you feel overlooked.  SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: When You Feel Forgotten   By Cindi McMenamin, Crosswalk Contributing Writer  “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 (NIV) Do you ever panic when circumstances look bleak, thinking that maybe God has forgotten you? Perhaps it's an unexpected bill you have to pay or a deadline that takes you by surprise. Maybe it's just something you've been praying for and you feel overlooked.  There are times I've started to feel forgotten. But looking back now, those are the times I've forgotten the God of Wonders and how He fights for those He loves.   I was reading in Exodus of God's deliverance of His people from Egypt. As the Israelites were backed up against the Red Sea with Pharaoh's army hotly pursuing them, it didn't look good. God's people were afraid of annihilation by the Egyptians. Moses' instructions to them were simple: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:13-14).   God then told Moses to raise his staff and divide the waters of the Red Sea so His people could cross through the middle of it. He also told Moses that the Egyptians would pursue them right through the middle of the sea, but God would "gain glory" through it. Moses didn't know exactly what that meant. He only knew that God expected him to take the next step, and trust Him in the face of threatening circumstances.  All night, the Israelites walked through the parted sea while God, as a pillar of fire, went between them and the pursuing Egyptians, keeping the Israelites a safe distance away, yet still lighting the path before them. Then, when all of the Israelites made it safely to the other side, God sent the Egyptians into confusion and covered them with the giant walls of water, drowning every last one of them.  The Israelites witnessed the spectacular hand of God delivering them from their enemies! Yet only three days later they came to a spring in the desert and grumbled against Moses (and God) because the water was bitter and they had nothing to drink. How quickly they had forgotten the God who rescued them. Couldn't the God who separated the waters also sweeten them? In spite of the Israelites' grumbling, God sweetened the water for them to drink, and then He brought them to Elim – where Exodus 15:27 says “there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.” God gave them a Palm Springs luxury resort! Right there in the desert! Intersecting Faith and Life:  How quickly you and I can forget God's amazing works too. How quickly we start to grumble, forgetting He is the God who always comes through.   God has told us in his Word He will never leave us, nor will He ever forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). And in Isaiah 49:15, God said “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you” (ESV).  There is only one thing we are told that God ever forgets—and that is our sin. (Psalm 103:12 tells us “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (NIV). God doesn't forget us, only our sin when we've confessed it to Him and accepted His forgiveness of it once and for all.  When you start to feel forgotten, remember that there is nothing that God forgets but your sin. And that means even when you're messing up, He hasn't forgotten or rejected you, He's still working on what will bring you closer to His heart and back to where you need to be with Him.  Lord, help me to remember today that You are with me, You are for me, and You have a reason for why I'm here. I will trust that You have not forgotten me, and that You are the God who always comes through. ## The Unshakable Light: A Gospel Unbound In a world that relentlessly seeks to dim the light, we, as Christians, are called to be beacons of unwavering truth. We must not allow the shifting tides of culture to wash away the purity and power of the Gospel. This message, a lifeline from the eternal darkness, holds the key to salvation, and we must wield it with courage and conviction. (Romans 12:2 (NIV)): "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." This verse echoes the urgent call to stand firm against the currents of cultural conformity and embrace a transformation that aligns us with God's divine will. We are not to simply adapt to the world, but to actively engage it with the transformative power of the Gospel. We are entrusted with a message that can heal the deepest wounds, bridge the chasm between humanity and God, and ignite the flames of hope in the most desolate of hearts. (Romans 1:16 (NIV)): "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. What you THINK determines how you FEEL. Philippians 4:8-9 NIV Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.   Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Our thoughts DETERMINE our DESTINY. Romans 8:5-6 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. Dealing with the 500-Pound Gorilla in the Room - Conflict  Romans 12:17-18 (NIV)“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” The effects of unresolved conflict in our relationships.   1.     It can minimize our joy. 2.     It can hinder our communication with God.  1 Peter 3:7 (ESV)“…husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.” 3.     It can hinder your sensitivity and worship to God.  Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)“…if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. After releasing her book Your Worthy Body, written for women over 40, she had moms approach her saying “I need something like this for my daughters!”  Her hope is to be a conduit between mom and daughter to help them both foster a healthy relationship with food, exercise and their body so they can grow in their relationship with each other. She does this through her new book Your Core Strength: A Christ-Centered, Diet-Culture-Free book for young women. Today we are going to be talking about How Your CORE Strength can bring freedom and empowerment in your health. Quotables from the episode: 91% of women report being unhappy with their bodies. Our C.O.R.E. strength refers to our calling, our originality and uniqueness, our relationships with others and with God, and everything that contributes to our holistic well-being in our health journey. Practically speaking, prioritize sleep. We can optimize and manage our overall mental and physical health when we have rested our brain and body. If you have children, model this for them. Spiritually speaking, I cling to 2 Corinthians 10:5: We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. If what I'm thinking isn't of God, then I follow the guidelines I offer in the book. Spot it, Lock it, Speak it. Ms. Beverly passed the torch after 55 years of ownership. Katie has been a part of Stage I Dance Academy since elementary school. Katie has a degree in Business Management from the Kelley School of Business, is a graduate of Leadership Johnson County's class of 2018 and a member of Aspire Johnson County. Her passion is providing a nurturing environment for children to develop as not only dancers, but young ladies and gentlemen.
