Based in Los Angeles, she is a wife and mother of two small children and is currently writing her second book. Robert Faust is an entrepreneur with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on undeveloped niche market opportunities. Currently, Faust is president and CEO of Tune Up Fitness Worldwide, Inc., a wellness company with a mission of bringing simple self-care healthcare practices into daily living. Through a catalog of professional education programs based on two proprietary fitness formats and a line of self-care fitness products, Tune Up’s breath, movement and mindset pillars empower people to live better in their body. Faust and his wife, Jill Miller, co-founded Tune Up Fitness in 2009. Stay In Touch With Jill and Robert Episode 58 with Jill Miller Book Website Facebook Instagram YouTube Show Notes We change this up a bit this week and begin by talking about how Jill Miller met her husband, Robert Faust. Prior to fitness, Robert’s background was in the entertainment and marketing industry, and so his expertise combined with Jill's creativity made for the perfect partnership, both in life and business. We begin by talking about the importance of our intellectual property (IP) and how we can often feel pressured to give our content away for free in exchange for the “opportunity” and “exposure.”Robert reminds us of the importance of remembering the hard work and hours of research and practice that you put into your programs and products, and that it is always good to get advice when these types of opportunities come your way. Intellectual Property can be broken apart, and so Robert also invites us to look at all aspects of the content we own, to future proof our work and our future career, that we all have worked so hard to create. It is always good to have everything written down, so there is nothing left to chance. We talk about how we can expand our reach and do great things in the world, doing something for the greater good but not the expense of our own health and happiness. We explore the poverty mindset that often comes with being a creative and the importance of facing our money stories and beliefs around finances and success. We go into how our self-worth will contribute to how we view our worth in the world, and that this is work we all need to do to be able to find the balance between giving to others and taking care of ourselves. We move to talk about the "free" culture, and how it is essential to look at how you can inspire others and grow your profile without giving "everything" away. I talk about why I do the podcast and how we can all create content that ties back to you, your purpose, and how you want to impact the world for good. We discuss how Robert and Jill try and balance, work, family, children, and life. I love the honesty of this part of our conversation and how it can be challenging to balance passion, purpose, and self-care. Jill talks about the balance between creativity and productivity and how it can sometimes be hard to find, especially when it comes to motherhood. Robert reminds us of the importance of planning. He believes that a lot of people fail to plan out their vision and understand the steps and milestones that it takes to accomplish their goals. He invites us to also look at what it takes to work backward and come up with just a few first steps that will get you closer to that next milestone. When we plan it helps us build both the confidence and competence to reach our dream goals. Jill reminds us that in addition to being strategic and doing the marketing, we also need to have people around us, who believe in us, and who will give us a chance to put our work out in the world. Our creativity and ideas cannot only happen in our heads, but the place where they will grow into their potential is out in the world as we beta test our materials. We wrap up the show talking about the importance of being authentic, as this way when you share your unique voice, the right people will find you. Robert also reminds us to credit the people who we have learned from. Once again, it is the ripple effect and allows us all to remember that the world is big enough for us all to succeed.

For our 24th episode, I had the pleasure to sit down with Jill Miller. Jill is the creator of the self-care fitness formats Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method. I first discovered Jill’s work about 5 years ago while looking for a way to heal a yoga injury. What I didn’t know at that moment was the profound impact this work was going to have to my life and my health.I suffer from endometriosis, and with March being the Endometriosis Awareness Month, I wanted to do an episode about one of the strategies that helped me deal with my symptoms. As an autoimmune disease it’s strongly affected by stress. Yoga Tune Up and the Roll Model Method have really helped me get a better understanding of my stress and gave me tools to down-regulate my nervous system so in turn, pain decreased pretty drastically. So I thought it would be a great way to talk about chronic pain management. As always, I really appreciate your support. What was the original need / intent? How does the self-massage work of the Roll Model Method affects the nervous system? What does down-regulation means? Why it’s important? How does a better awareness, help you regulate your stress or deal with symptoms of an illness in your opinion? Can we talk about the role of emotions in our body, how they relate to stress and illness, and how this work also taps into this piece of the puzzle? Can we look more precisely at the abdominal massage with the coregeous ball? How does that work? And why might it create an emotional response? We talked about the body itself and the healing side of touch, we talked about awareness and emotions, can we now look at mental state and touch on the importance of Sankalpa and Self-Acceptance?How does the regulation of the breath have such an important impact? What is conscious relaxation? I find that often time Savasana is not as valued as it should in class. What’s the importance of this pose? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

"Don't Be At Battle With Your Body" Jill Miller What an honor to speak with longtime industry leader Jill Miller. In this conversation Jill shares her backstory of being overweight as a young child. She has experienced the bullying that comes along with not being a part of the "in" crowd, and talks about the pain that came with not fitting in. It was Jane Fonda Videos that her mother was working out to, that moved Jill from the couch to a life of exercise, but they also introduced her to a powerful way to control both her body and her life. Both Jill and I have struggled with body dysmorphia, and we touch on the eating disorders that consumed our life. Jill shares that her body was a symptom of the deep wounds that many of us experience growing up, and candidly opens up about her long journey back to true health and wellness. We discus how movement can either be a weapon or a powerful tool, and it is up to us to listen and honor our body. Jill shares her reasons for developing Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method and the heart and hustle that was needed to get her knowledge into the world on a large scale. She talks about her desire for people to feel good and comfortable in their own bodies, and that this was the main inspiration for her to keep forging ahead. Jill was determined to create an adjunct way of treating and healing the body, one which could be used in tandem with any other type of movement. We talk about what it took for her "overnight" success: from her start when she was solo and traveling all over the country, city to city, studio to studio to today, where she now oversees more than 500 Yoga Tune Up Teachers. Jill talks about her methodology, which is a process based movement format that can work with any type of body. She shares the blind spots that we often have in our own body: Overuse, Underuse, Misuse or Confuse. We discuss what it takes to keep moving forward when you have people pushing against your beliefs and what it takes to let the the negativity slide away and to keep believing. Jill shares the importance of having cheerleaders who are rooting for you and that for Jill, many of her greatest supporters were her students and the Group Fitness Managers at Equinox. We wrap up the conversation talking about Jill’s recent hip replacement. At the time of this recording she was only Five weeks post operation. Jill shares the vulnerability and the lessons that have come through this pivotal moment in her career, and how she is determined to use this for good. She also realizes that she is much more than her "hip."
