Is Lookwell a one season show because it aired one time in the summer of 1991? No. But we're talking about it anyway? Yes. But we're also talking about talking about it so I guess that's fine? No. But that's what Derick wants? Yes. But why should that matter? Anyway, by now you could have listened to it.
This was our first attempt at recording the podcast, all the way back in 2018. Take a trip down memory lane to where it all began. While we eventually took the podcast in a slightly different direction, eagle-eared listeners will recognize some familiar topics and themes that later resurfaced. Get a taste of the high-quality content we were destined to deliver. Tune in and hear PQP: Origins! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
When this podcast ended, we promised that we would come back if we could land interviews with people associated with the show. Today we are keeping our promise and are back with a writer and producer: Richard Gurman! Richard was involved with Married with Children from its start with the Unaired Pilot in late 1986 through the end of Season 10. He also wrote the first episode of Season 11. If there is one person besides the show's creators who can tell the complete story of Married with Children, this is the guy! Mr. Gurman has a new book out on April 23, 2024 entitled Married… With Children vs. the World: The Inside Story of the Shock-Com that Launched FOX and Changed TV Comedy Forever. This book is the definitive inside story that you need to add to your Married with Children collection, and just like watching episodes of the show, you will want to read this book over and over again! This book has been reviewed and endorsed by Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, David Garrison, and Michael G. Moye! Richard worked in Hollywood for over thirty-five years writing, producing, and showrunning such popular TV shows as Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, Diff'rent Strokes, Facts of Life, Still Standing, and of course Married… With Children. In 2017, he produced the documentary film This Is Bob Hope for the PBS series American Masters, and in 2020, along with director John Scheinfeld, he executive produced the documentary The Happy Days of Garry Marshall for ABC. According to IMDB he has writing credits across 21 shows, producer credits on 15 shows, and has also been a creative consultant and story editor. Richard holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley. In this interview, Annabel talks to Richard about his Hollywood career, his days on Married with Children, and of course about his book! Topics include, a week in the life of a television writer on Married With Children, Barry Diller, Terry Rakolta, the global impact of the show and much MUCH more! So, let's dust off the chairs in the nudie bar, put the Girlie Girl beer back on ice, and listen in to Mr. Richard Gurman! This book is available where all books are sold. You should go out and BUY this TODAY if you haven't preordered it already!

In the unaired pilot episode of this widely successful, ribald sitcom, Al Bundy has a chance of getting front row seats to the basketball game, but Peggy makes him stay home and meet their new yuppie neighbors, Marcy and Steve Rhoades. Differences between the unaired pilot and the actual pilot include Bud Bundy being played by Hunter Carson and Kelly Bundy played by Tina Caspary. Ritch Shydner also had a starring role according to the opening credits. In this bonus episode review, The Married with Children Podcast's Annabel and Luigi go through the history of this episode along with the differences to the actual pilot and explore the "what might have been" scenarios. Way back in 2018, Mike and Ethan were messing around with some YouTube videos, and got into a huge digression about comic strips. That's right, the podcast that always digresses from comic strips started as a digression INTO them! Witness the sticky conception and awkward birth of Special Presentation as we take you through our very first comic strip adaption: Garfield A to Z Zoo, one of the richest fonts of weirdness that Garfield's world has to offer. Monkeys in dresses, the plural of Cyclops, an improbable glass bus, space incest, and gender inequality all emerge as themes in the unaired pilot for "Lost in Space"! Join us as we dive into the awesome future world of 1997 as seen through the lens of 1965's "Master of Disaster", Irwin Allen. Before the flailing robot existed, before Dr. Zachary Smith was a character, before "Danger Will Robinson" was ever uttered, CBS launched the Robinsons into the outer worlds and flew the Gemini 12 directly into a field of asteroids, promptly losing the most expensive science experiment ever created by Man.The Booze Raccoons (James, Gretchen, Alex, Dave, and Judith) reassemble to review the awful unaired pilot of the seminal TV show and discuss the ridiculous episode in our living room on Alex's birthday. Alex announces his new podcast, "Nuking Aliens", a still unreleased project he's been working on for 83 episodes, without releasing a single show. Dave assassinates the engineering choices of the Robinson Family's space car boat. Judith hates all over the space monkey. Gretchen keeps talking about crinkly avocado boobs for some reason, and James stumbles over words normal humans can utter with perfection.Strap your jetpacks on, Penny rode a space turtle into the jungle again!

Our journey begins! One jaded dude who's been watching Dr Who for decades and can no longer tell what's good and what's not, and one guy brand new to the show. We start from the beginning, with the Unaired Pilot that almost ended Doctor Who before it started... Us Twitter Facebook Corrections Ron refers to the composer of the theme, Ron Granier, as the head of the BBC Radiophonic workshop, which is incorrect. He was contracted by them to compose the theme, but it's accurate that he felt Delia Derbyshire deserved credit and royalties for her work on it. This is a brand new episode, not one that we recorded as a test 3 years ago and cleaned up because we wanted a month off. We have too much integrity to do that, even as an April Fool’s joke.
