Today we discuss YouTube, flash floods, science, and Epstein. First: a head injury explains our late start, but all is fine. Then: four years after being demonetized by YouTube, both of our channels have been remonetized. Why were we demonetized in the first place, and what did we refuse to do to get back in the good graces of YouTube? Also: flash floods are often tragic, but does it inherently follow that they are due to anthropogenic climate change? Similarly, does not believing that mRNA shots will work against Covid mean that you don't believe in Covid? Finally: two competing hypotheses for what is going on with the federal government's newest treatment of Epstein: are they covering for a peace deal in the Middle East, or are they being strong-armed by organized crime? *****Our sponsors:Sundries Farm: Extraordinary hand grown and harvested garlic from a family farm on the volcanic soils of Idaho. The words of Richard Baxter are earthy, moving, and convicting. He echoes the truth that we can begin to enjoy God's rest as we seek Him foremost.Baxter in "The Saints Everlasting Rest" brings us to tears, and He laments in the voice of God:"How must we offend our dear Lord when we give him cause to complain, as he did of our fellow idolaters: "My people have been lost sheep; they have forgotten their resting-place. My people can find rest in anything rather than in me. They can delight in one another, but not in me. They can rejoice in my creatures and ordinances, but not in me. Yea, in their very labors and duties they seek for rest, but not in me. They had rather be anywhere than be with me. Are these their gods? Have these redeemed them? Will these be better to them than I have been, or than I would be?" If you yourselves had a wife, a husband, a son, who had rather be any where than in your company, and was never so merry as when farthest from you, would you not take it ill? So our God must needs do."He then urges us:"O Christian, follow thy work, look to thy dangers, hold on to the end, win the field, and come off the ground before thou think of a settled rest."His words are sobering to my soul. Don't miss this essential study as Pastor Baer helps us find the answers and relief that only the Bible can provide for the heavy loads on our hearts and minds.Email us at thatsinthebible@gmail.comWebsite: thatsinthebible.comOur podcast theme song "Jesus Is Coming Soon", courtesy of His Reflection a Gospel Quartet from Buckley Road Baptist Church, Liverpool, NY.
Today we discuss sex and vaccines, reality and renegades. First: men can no longer compete in women's sports—from Trump's Executive Order, to the NCAA's response, to William “Lia” Thomas having his records rescinded at Penn, reality is prevailing. Other evidence includes the UK Supreme Court declaring that “man” and “woman” refer to biological reality; and the U.S. Supreme Court writing an opinion that forcing LGBTQ+ books on children in public elementary schools is unconstitutional. Men cannot magically turn into women, nor boys into girls, no matter what they believe or are told. Then: from the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) to Vinay Prasad's latest presentation at the FDA: the federal government is being populated by a combination of true renegades and middle ground scramblers who are dressed like renegades. A good toolkit for understanding how to make sense of the claims being made is necessary, and we all should be rooting for the renegades to win.*****Our sponsors:CrowdHealth: Pay for healthcare with crowdfunding instead of insurance. Today we discuss MAHA, wearables, health, and Israel. RFK Jr. announced that he hopes that in four years, all Americans will be wearing health tracking devices. What are the implications for individual health? Is hypothesis-driven science being undermined? Will equity be used as a way to force this on people? What should we think of the fact that Casey Means, the nominee to Surgeon General, has a company that incorporates wearables? What does Yuval Noah Harari have to tell us? Does having your data uploaded to the cloud seem like a good idea? There seem to be two very different models of how to MAHA: 1) hone your intuition, trust your senses, and try to create an environment with as little exposure to hyper-novelty as possible; or 2) tech your way out of the problem, and trans-humanize your way to success. Also: Bret introduces Warner the wearables werewolf. Breaking news: Israel and the U.S. appear to have brokered a deal that includes several other countries in the Middle East, and leaves open the possibility of a two-state solution.*****Our sponsors:Brain.fm: intense music that boosts productivity. But he doesn't ask it. He says: "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." John 2:2Jesus, however, goes straight to the point, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3Since we know:"Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, Thou dost know it all." William Yang is one of Australia's most vital storytellers. For over five decades, he's documented queer life in Sydney -- its parades, parties, politics, and people -- through photography, performance, and prose. Born in 1943 in Far North Queensland, William came out as gay in the early 1970s during the wave of gay liberation, and later came out again -- this time as Chinese -- after reconnecting with his heritage through Taoism and travel. His landmark exhibitions and live slide shows, like Sydneyphiles, Sadness, and Friends of Dorothy, have cemented his place as a queer cultural archivist.I've wanted to interview William since beginning Tracks of Our Queers, and have to thank Benjamin Law for connecting us. We conclude our Signature Episode in segments with the why of prayer and the difficulty of the truth, "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Our growth and consistent prayer move our prayers prayer from a task or discipline to the sweetest part of our day. The Apostle Paul will be our last example. With the insight of a life lived for the spread of the gospel, Paul describes earthly life in this way:Life is full of afflictions, crushed, perplexed, persecuted, struck down, and frustrated. Other inescapable burdens areimmorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like that. How then can the man who accurately details the sorrows and burdens of all God's redeemed also say:Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 andRejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4.Our So What?"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."Philippians 4:6-7The art of prayer leads to overcoming all that discourages us in His presence and power. Treasured ones of God, cultivate your prayer life to His glory and your soul's satisfaction, even in this fallen world.AmenBrethren, let us pray for one another to overcome the weakness of the flesh through prayer. We are wrapping up, or beginning to, our signature episode; in this installment, we start with David's description in Psalm 22 of the crucifixion of Jesus.Beginning with the most historic moment, both great joy for us and agony for our Savior,"My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Psalm 22:1aThe spiritual separation of Jesus, his pain, and humiliation are also described in Psalm 22. What did Jesus do in anticipation of this excruciating pain?He sought the Father, gathered His friends, and prayed."And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt." Matthew 26:39We apply this in various and sundry ways: "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." However, it is key to note that we hear that phrase from our Savior in the context of prayer! Our So What? Our duty, glory, excellency, and abundant life flow directly from our communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Brethren, let us pray for one another to overcome the weakness of the flesh through prayer. Morocco has beautiful landscapes and movie sets from around the world. My favorite is Casablanca, which stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Thank you, everyone in Morocco, for listening. Our impossible need:To understand prayer, we need to understand being humanity. We cry before we are able to talk, but the reasons we cry and talk are the same. We are sinners. The natural state of our sons is selfishness and self-centeredness. We are complicated and bigger on the inside. We are built Biblically upside down. We look to what is best for us as an individual. The results: Estrangement from God, and isolation from one another. Our So What?We long to know others and be fully known by others, beginning with the God-shaped void in our souls. Our impossible solution, next time. Brethren, let's pray for one another."What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." Let's Chat!! Boo, Bitches!
The Apostle Paul was distressed, buffeted by Satan. Evidently, Paul's practice of buffeting his body was insufficient to keep him humble.Paul prayed three times for relief from the thorn in his flesh, and when the answer came back, (no) My grace is sufficient for you, Paul's response was:"And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."2 Corinthians 12:9-10When God tells us no, there is a reason. All that He does in our lives, including answering our prayers, is to accomplish this one thing:"For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren;""And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren; 30 and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."Romans 8:28-30Conformity to Jesus comes through humility. Therefore, when He says no, our praise, adoration, and thanksgiving are just as enthusiastic as when we get what we pray for. We have seen the futility of trying to manipulate God from His will through the error of Balaam. We have also seen the glory of God as He answers the particular prayer of Abraham's servant in an eerily precise way. Today, we will see God answer our prayers even as they may be vague, but He knows our hearts and grants even those imprecise prayers, even as He answers our specific prayers as He knows the deepest desires of our hearts. To His glory, He knows what we need, and although He answers differently than we have prayed, our souls are satisfied as our desires are affirmed. God was not swayed from His determined destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. He did hear and answer the heart of Abraham in the safety of Lot and his children. Send us a textIn a world gripped by headlines of conflict and tension, particularly between Israel and Iran, is there a bigger picture to consider? In this crucial episode of "That's In The Bible?", we're joined by Robert Militello of Pensacola, Florida – former pastor and insightful author for The Bible Believers Bulletin.Robert draws powerful parallels between the current jeopardy Israel faces and the ancient threat to the Hebrew people in the Book of Esther, when Haman sought to eliminate them all. But beyond these timely comparisons, Militello expands our view to examine what the Bible truly says about the origins of killing and death, and, ultimately, its final, divine end. Tune in for a compelling study that connects ancient scripture to modern headlines, and offers profound biblical insights into the very nature of life and death.Email us at thatsinthebible@gmail.comWebsite: thatsinthebible.comOur podcast theme song "Jesus Is Coming Soon", courtesy of His Reflection a Gospel Quartet from Buckley Road Baptist Church, Liverpool, NY.

Today we discuss war, regime change, cyber-attacks, libertarianism, and driving. In what ways are Israel's attack on Iran reminiscent of events from the past? Are the neo-cons back, or did they never go away? It would seem that we are being frog-marched to war. Speaking of destabilization: North America's largest publicly traded wholesale distributor of natural foods (UNFI) was hacked, leaving market shelves empty at tens of thousands of stores. In better news: Bret returned from FreedomFest, and provides a report, and discusses his model for Libertarianism 2.0. And: Matthew Crawford on why we drive. Which is better: horses or cars? One correction - I mention Isaiah 66:2 in this episode. When I said it, I should have listened to myself. (Now I know what Cathy feels like.) The verse I had in mind was Isaiah 65:24"It will also come to pass that I will answer before they call; while they are still speaking, I will hear.So think about that verse when you hear Isaiah 66:2 (which is a great verse, too.)We have also republished a companion Episode:"Personal/Powerful Prayer Lessons - God is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever."We examine Biblically; God answers prayers precisely as we have asked them. The oldest and most faithful servant, Abraham had learned faith as he lived through Abraham's struggles and victories in his wait for the promised son.We see him pray to Yahweh, a particular prayer, and when the prayer was answered in his view, as he had asked, he had two reactions, as we do:Meanwhile, the man was gazing at her in silence to know whether the LORD had made his journey successful.Genesis 24:21, so precise was God's response; his mouth was shut, and he awaited confirmation. Then, he worshipped:And he said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His lovingkindness and His truth toward my master; as for me, the LORD has guided me in the way to the house of my master's brothers."Genesis 24:27Let us follow the example of the majestic ones chosen by God to cling to Him.Psalm 5:3"3 In the morning, O LORD, Thou wilt hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch.""What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more."Robert Murray M'CheyneAssistant Editor: Seven Jefferson Gossardwww.frponprayer.comfreerangeprayer@gmail.comFacebook - Free Range Preacher MinistriesInstagram: freerangeministriesAll our Scripture quotes are drawn from the NASB 1977 edition. For access to the Voice Over services of Richard Durrington, please visit RichardDurrington.com or email him at Durringtonr@gmail.comOur podcast art was designed by @sammmmmmmmm23 InstagramSeason 007Episode 050

Success is never final.Failure is never fatal. It is courage that counts. (We believe courage born of faith.)These words attributed to Winston Churchill are indeed Biblical and encouraging. The two Biblical principles expressed are:1. We live until our ministry is done. 2. We are in a process of spiritual growth. These principles are illustrated through Moses, Deuteronomy chapter 34, Elijah 2 Kings 2, and Paul in 2 Timothy 4.Our So What?"Success is never final, failure is never fatal, it is courage, (faith) that counts. My best days are many times sleepless nights.God has often made the most resounding impact on His hard-headed slave -me- through sleepless nights wrestling with Him.This delayed episode is just one occasion of God's work on a dull hearer. We will see how dangerous it is to believe we pray primarily to get what we want. We follow Balak and Balaam as they persist in prayer, which is clearly against God's will. Ploy 1: Everyone thinks it's a good idea.Ploy 2: Really distinguished men think it is a good idea.Ploy 3: God's servant will get lots of money if you say yes.Ploy 4: Worship, I will give lots of worship if you only give me this.Ploy 5: Threatening the servant of God. (I get my ploys a little out of number. Lol out loud)Balaam finally comes to his senses, but what time I have wasted praying for stones and snakes dull in learning, the joy of my soul resting in my converse with my gracious Savior. Today, we highlight Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Glorious Lord in the Church around the world. Thank you all for listening. We are looking at the earthly conversations Jesus had, as recorded in the gospels, to see if we are able to glean anything useful for our prayer lives. Our latest segment comes from John chapter 2 and the wedding party at Cana. We find not only is He the God of the impossible, but He can accomplish multiple things through one prayer. The prayer of Mary, "They have no wine." Began a miracle, at least 180 gallons of good wine. Although the miracle was a "quiet one," it accomplished all Mary had prayed, but it set the beginning of the evangelist team God would use to turn the world upside down. "This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him." John 2:11Our So What? When we cast our prayers to the heart of our God, we scarce know how those prayers may be used in the plan of the Almighty. Therefore, we heed then the exhortations of E.M. Bounds and the apostle Paul:"Nothing is well done without prayer for the simple reason that it leaves God out of the account." " Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31Brethren, let's pray for one another. Today we discuss hummingbirds, baby making, longevity hacking, and Jeffrey Epstein, before finishing up with a short discussion of the riots in LA. A new company is promising future parents that they will be able to create long-lived babies—what could go wrong? Also, how likely are they to be able to make good on their promises? We discuss, as always, with an evolutionary lens. Also: what a great business model! And: it is easier to fix something that is broken than it is to improve something that works.
