After working as a commercial photographer, she now dedicates her time to educating others. Since 2012, Valérie has taken her camera all over the world teaching students the art of visual storytelling. Paris, New York, Rome, Amsterdam, Melbourne, and San Francisco are just a few of the locations she visits. Apart from teaching others to see photographically, Valérie is a prolific author, a speaker, and a podcast producer of the weekly show Hit The Streets. She has been an official Fujifilm X-Photographer since 2014.   Valérie picked Elliott Erwitt (born 1928 in Paris, France) as the PPN inspirational photographer of the month. Elliott is a commercial and documentary/street photographer who was one of the first photographers to be recognized by the commercial as well as the art world for his photography. He is probably best known for his street photography series of dogs but also captured portraits of many famous people. He teaches photo workshops in some pretty remote places in the world. And his “Tips from the Top Floor” podcast is the oldest and longest running photography podcast in the world.   Chris picked Henri Cartier-Bresson as the PPN inspirational photographer of the month. Henri was a French photographer and considered a master of candid photography. His book “The Decisive Moment” coined the term in photography where the right timing is essential in order to get a perfect photo. His work has influenced many photographers. Niko Kallianiotis is an educator and photographer based in Pennsylvania. He started his career as a newspaper photographer, first as a freelancer at The Times Leader, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and then as a staff photographer at The Coshocton Tribune in Coshocton, Ohio, and The Watertown Daily Times in Watertown, New York.    He is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography at Marywood University in Scranton, PA and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He is also a contributing photographer for The New York Times. John Free is a social documentary/street photographer who lives in Los Angeles. His photographic essays have ranged from railroad tramps in California to automobile abstracts to Paris street life.  John has been inspiring to photographers of all ages of all skill levels for many years through teaching sold-out classes and workshops on street photography in Los Angeles, New York, Paris and London. Jamel Shabazz has been documenting the ‘Urban Life’ for over 30 years. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY he picked up his first camera at the age of 15 and proceeded to record the world around him. Jamel has drawn inspiration from the great James Van Der Zee, Gordon Parks, Robert Capa, Chester Higgins and Eli Reed.  He is the author of 3 monographs, ‘Back in the Days’, ‘The Last Sunday in June’ and ‘A Time Before Crack, Jamel is presently working on his fourth book, entitled ‘The 90’s'. Jamel is dedicated to mentoring youth, both in the field of photography and career planning. Craig Semetko is a Los Angeles based photographer known for the sense of humor running through his work. The foreword for his first book, UNPOSED, was written by Magnum Photos icon Elliott Erwitt, who wrote of Semetko “...he is the essential photographer. That is, the one who sees what others could not have seen.” Semetko was selected as one of 10 photographers worldwide to be a part of Leica Camera’s 10 x10 exhibition in honor of its 100 year anniversary and grand opening of its new manufacturing and cultural complex in May, 2014, in  Wetzlar, Germany. Over 50 of his prints are currently showing through May 25th, 2014 at the Leica Gallery Los Angeles, and his work has been exhibited in galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Salzburg, Denver, Durango, Colorado and Washington, D.C. His prints hang in private collections in the US, Europe and Asia. Sam Abell has been a photographer for over 40 years and has been largely known for his work with National Geographic. His career has revolved largely through his many long-term projects for magazines and books. He is also an author, artist and teacher.  He has published several books including The Photographic Life, Seeing Gardens and The Life of a Photograph which provide wonderful collections of his body of work.  Sam's ability to compose layered compositions have helped him to create images that are considered some of the best photographs ever made. Travel photographer Tom Carter (1973) was born and raised in the City of San Francisco and graduated with a degree in Political Science from the American University in Washington, D.C. Following a political career with a number of high-profile state and national campaigns, Tom decided to "peek over the fence" and subsequently spent 18 months backpacking down the length of Mexico, Cuba and Central America. Tom later spent one year in Japan, one year in India, and four years in the People's Republic of China, traveling extensively throughout the country's 33 provinces and autonomous regions.
