240p Club Podcast

After we fixed the space/time continuum from last episode, we join Nikki, Metallic Joe, and Ray in discussion about Game Stop's latest woes (as well as share some funny Game Stop stories). Also we dive into Nikki's New York Comic Con adventures, and wind up discussing (thanks to Fire Emblem and Super Smash Bros.) crossovers NOBODY wanted to see.

Metallic Joe, Zakk, and Ray have attempted to generate some money for the podcast by building a time machine, but succeeded in screwing up the space-time continuum instead. Now past games have DLC and micro transactions and there's nothing to be done about it. While top scientists figure out how to restore the balance (which should be done by the time you listen), we highlight some of the changes our beloved games of yesteryear have undergone. Afterwards we talk about possible future Zelda game ideas and our worst "first day on the job" moments in video gaming.

It's a very festive time at the 240p Club as we say Happy Birthday to 3 our of 4 podcasters in the room, as well as some of the most legendary systems ever released, the Sega Genesis and Nintendo Game Boy both turn 30 this year, while the Sega Dreamcast turns 20. We discuss some of our memories with each system and hope we motivated you to pull out these systems out of storage and play them. We also preview the Genesis Mini, which is out by the time this podcast is airing.

We made it to 39! On this edition of the 240p Club, Metallic Joe and Nikki Tuonela discuss the Gamer Girl Bathwater nonsense as well as what kind of creepy stalkers seem to inhabit the gamer culture these days. Prepare your eardrums! The 240p Club heads back to the golden age of 8-bit, RF adapters on channel 3 (or 4), and particularly what we feel is the best of the best in 8-bit console soundtracks. Metallic Joe, Lord Kuddy, and Nikki Tuonela dive deep into our game libraries and discuss the best arrangements and level musics, even from sub-par games. These are the games you never want to turn the sound down to play and the mere mention jogs memories of the wonderful soundtrack and hopefully puts a controller in your hand.   We also preview our Mega Man for mega PAWS event on Twitch August 4th 1 PM EST.

It's our second birthday!   To celebrate being around another year, we again pull back the curtains and go behind the scenes, talk about our favorite moments, and special guest Phil talks...um, something weird about the N64 controller. Since we're a gaming podcast and not anything existential, we're only going to moments in time where we were playing games with some of the people we love, setting the mood by describing the time and place. On this newest edition, the 240p Club Podcast tackles swatting on the first part of our latest podcast, covers a wide variety of controllers released for the various systems of yesteryear, and finishes off with a roundup of retro-gaming related releases for the next gen systems. Metallic Joe, Nikki, and Ray are back for episode 31! Today we discuss portable technology and how it's taken over our lives and caused people to lose focus on even things right in front of them. We're also covering the Game Masters exhibit at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. We look back to 2016 and remastering our first podcast for YouTube (as well as recoding Podcast 6), say "Happy 25th" to the original Breath of Fire game for SNES, and end up on Nikki's adventures in the Fire Emblem series. Just remember, don't play Game Boy and drive at the same time!

On our special hour and a half 30th podcast, we turn the clock back 30 years here at the 240p Club to glam rock, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and of course the year in Nintendo releases. We go down the list in alphabetical order and discuss each North American release for the NES in 1988. Some classic releases, some that may have been better off unreleased, nothing is off limits on this list. So turn the clock back with us and listen in!

Episode 29 of the 240p Club takes us to the world of user-created levels and content for your favorite video games past and present. If you've ever downloaded a user-designed Quake level or even made your own course in Excitebike, we cover it. Also we dig into Atari record keeping and more specifically the legitamacy of some of the older records on the heels of the scandal involving Todd Rogers. Finally...don't eat Detergent Pods!

The 240p Club is finally back! On this edition of our podcast, we revisit the beat-'em-up genre of games and dig through the huge pile of awesome titles to pick our staff's Top 10 of all time! After much debate, some badass kung fu, and a visit to Metro City, we finally narrowed it down to 10 series that had a lasting impact on us over the years. These are our Top 10 Beat 'Em Ups of the 240p era.

It's been a while since we've published a new podcast! Real life obligations, etc. However, we finally were able to get together and record another podcast. The topic tonight is "What If?" in video gaming, speculating what would have happened had certain events in video gaming happened differently. For example, "What if the NES did indeed get marketed in the US by Atari?", "What if the Nintendo Playstation came out", and our favorite "What is Genesis actually didn't what Nintendon't?"
