Takes place in Ivalice which is a precursor to its successor FInal Fantasy 12 Story feels like a Game of Thrones, Dark and Gritty You follow Ramza who is an illegitimate child to the throne who are in a war known as the Lion war. Tons of people die in dramatic ways. Metascore of 88 The game plays like a strategy game such as Ogre tactics: Let Us Cling Together or Fire Emblem but with a vast and beautiful job system and memorable characters. #2 Final Fantasy 15 Action-RPG Released November 29th 2016 You are the son of the king who gets usurped by Nifilheim and have to go through your birthright of power in order to eventually reclaim the throne. Metascore of 81% Very modern version of JRPGs and high quality graphics Revolves around Noctis and his three best friends Some fun DLC episodes added to the game as well as an anime: FFXV Brotherhood #1 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn An MMORPG from September 20th 2010 Revolves around your character being the hero of light who needs to save the continent of Eorzea from perils such as the spirit animals known as Primals and the Garlean empire. With the recent birth of our second child, Darryl is flying solo this episode... but that doesn't mean there will be any less to discuss as the games as a service topic has raised its head again following an interview with Final Fantasy XV's director Hajime Tabata! Darryl runs through the merits of the approach in relation to Final Fantasy XV, talking about the lessons that can be learnt and applied to future iterations. But it's also about understanding what exactly it means for games to act as a service, as opposed to a standalone packaged offering. In addition, there's also plenty of questions to run-through, including favourite summon mechanics, opinions on the Ultimania Archive guide books and what we think about Caius and Noel as characters!  

We start off this week's episode by going through all the highlights (and low lights) of the trailers we saw this year at Comic Con! We discuss all the things we're looking forward to and all the things we aren't quite sure about yet. Can DC turn things around? Will Godzilla be king of the monsters? After that, we delve into some quality nerd discussion, including Warhammer 40k. We talk about Magic the Gathering and how much fun we've been having with it. Then, we talk about Gundam and Gunpla! The dust has now settled from E3 2016 and as often happens, that means there's a huge news lull! What better time to discuss some of the older Final Fantasy titles, specifically experiences we've had when venturing back to play them again (or for the first time).   Darryl is joined by Lauren and Jared to talk about different entry routes into the series and how that might affect how older titles are perceived. There's also the interesting topic of going back to replay titles, and how potential things change due to developments elsewhere. It's a topic we could probably have spent an age discussing!   There is also some new (shock!) relating to Final Fantasy XIV, the release of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and the delay of Justice Monsters Five.    We hope you enjoy the episode!

Final Fantasy Union is BACK AGAIN for another fun show. Darryl and Lauren sit down and talk about all things Final Fantasy. First topic on the list is controversial!
