Stress doesn't just live in your mind it shows up in your gut. If you've ever felt bloated, gassy, or uncomfortable during busy seasons of life, there's a real physiological reason your digestive system reacts the way it does. When stress hormones surge for long periods, they disrupt digestion, slow metabolism, and increase inflammation making bloating, constipation, cravings, and low energy far more likely. Chronic stress throws off gut–brain communication, leaving you feeling foggy, tired, and hungrier than usual, especially for high-sugar comfort foods. Supporting your body with high-fiber snacks, healthy fats, protein, and magnesium-rich foods can help stabilize blood sugar and calm your nervous system. Simple daily habits like mindful eating, journaling, and nourishing your body with gut-supportive nutrients make a significant difference in how you digest, recover, and handle life's pressures. This episode breaks down the real reason stress impacts your digestion and what you can do today to relieve bloating and feel better from the inside out. This week the Acts of Leadership series takes us to Acts 15. Rick and Svea look at circumcision and the old covenant, the new covenant, and James' declaration in Acts 15:19, “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God."Topics discussed in this episode:00:00 Intro02:41 We will always have to wrestle with issues that would seek to divide us.05:00 Circumcision: the sign of the old covenant.11:41 Baptism: the sign of the new covenant. Comparing circumcision with baptism.13:52 The new covenant is superior to the old covenant. The old covenant started outwardly and hoped it would become inward. The new covenant starts inwardly and expresses itself outwardly.20:25 If salvation is by faith alone, why did James add four "conditions" on the church in Acts 15?24:07 James isn't adding conditions to faith in Jesus, he's showing other practices that, if practiced, will pull their hearts away from Jesus and toward other gods.36:51 The thinking process of looking at Scripture in regard to temporary, cultural application vs permanent.39:21 If Paul, Peter, and James were addressing the American Church what practices might they suggest that would be helpful in following Jesus?

This week Rick and Svea look at Acts 10 and the story of Cornelius.Topics discussed in this episode:00:00 Intro06:11 Three questions about leadership: whom am I looking to for leadership, how am I leading myself, who looks to me for leadership.07:31 Cornelius in Acts 10. He was a complex character, we're all complex characters.10:12 We're never correct to reduce any person to one defining thing; it tends to bring out one of four bad responses. We're all multifaceted.13:08 In this passage we get to see how God saw Cornelius.15:52 A thought experiment.20:12 Good isn't bad; good is good. It's just not good enough to close the gap between us and God.23:16 The gap Cornelius had and his angelic visitors. God's methods are intentionally messy and inefficient.28:14 In this chapter we've seen Cornelius as a leader of people, show self-leadership, and now he looks to Peter for leadership.34:11 We need to trust Jesus enough to deconstruct our self-imposed rules so that he can rule. It's all about heart orientation.

We're so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out Sunday's message!-- SUNDAY'S NOTES --Colossians 2:6-76 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.Daniel 1:1-2King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 The Lord gave him victory over King Jehoiakim of JudahThe Lord gave Nebuchadnezzar victory???Messes with my theology. Ever feel like God is giving all the victory to your enemies? When we are rooted in him, we can trust God to strategically use bad situations to bring about profound good.He did it here, He'll do it for you.Daniel 1:3-54 “Select only strong, healthy, and good-looking young men,” he said. “Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good judgment, and are suited to serve in the royal palace. Train these young men in the language and literature of Babylon.” 5 The king assigned them a daily ration of food and wine from his own kitchens. They were to be trained for three years, and then they would enter the royal service.Daniel 1:6-76 Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were four of the young men chosen, all from the tribe of Judah. 7 The chief of staff renamed them with these Babylonian names:Daniel (God is my judge) → Belteshazzar (Bel favors him)Hananiah (gracious is Yahweh) → Shadrach (Ishtar)Mishael (who is like Elohim) → Meshach (Marduk)Azariah (he hears Yahweh) → Abednego (Nego)-iah, yah for Yahweh. -el for Elohim. Mesopotamian Gods Marduk, Ishtar, NegoFirst thing they did: they changed their names. Some names given to us, the Church:Dove (So and Psa)God's building (1Co 3:9)God's heritage (1Pe 5:3)Pillar of truth - 1Ti 3:15Free (Gal 4:26)Righteous (Heb 12)Faithful (Heb 13)Peace and mercy-givers (Gal)Being rooted into our name/title… We have these names from God. We need to lean into them by the way we live day-to-day.To be rooted in God means to know, believe, and live out our God-given identity.Daniel 1:8-109 Now God had given the chief of staff both respect and affection for Daniel.“Both respect and affection” - this is what we call favor.Pray for us, for favorWhen we are rooted in Christ, his life flowing in us bears the fruits of respect and favor.Daniel 1:12-1612 “Please test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water,” Daniel said. 13 “At the end of the ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king's food. Then make your decision in light of what you see.” 14 The attendant agreed to Daniel's suggestion and tested them for ten days.15 At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. 16 So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and wine provided for the others.“So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and wine” that was given to everyone else.If we're going to stand for Jesus through the winds and storms of life, we must be deeply rooted in Him.We won't stand for long if we don't have deep roots. The deeper our roots, the more solid we will stand.Colossians 2:6-76 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. In this season-six finale of the podcast, Sarah Lavonne and Justine look back on a whirlwind year at Bundle Birth, with new classes, a reboot on YouTube, and new hospital trainings. Sarah shares an “epic fail” at her first Advanced Physiologic Birth training, then explains how the mishap led her to redesign the class and refocus on meeting you where you're at, giving you the positioning training you want while also being authentic. The pair riff on systemic problems in maternity care, the power of empathy, and balancing big-picture change in the healthcare industry.*Disclaimer: To any of the nurses that were at this training or the leadership team that experienced this class, the rant at the end is not about you. It is about the system as a whole, you are amazing, and I am so impressed that you have invested in your nurse's growth like you have. ❤️ SarahSend in your question to be featured in Season 7 of the Pod!
