So obviously we’ve only just entered the Ramadan and by default in the next month we as Muslims will be fasting for the majority of the day. This is not what I’m referring to however when I’m talking about not eating enough. What I am talking about is what happens when we hope that by restricting our calorie intake drastically, we can achieve a great weight loss result. So in short, I’ll just say this for those of you who are impatient and just want to get to the point – not eating enough food will not necessarily give you the weight loss results you’re after and in many cases, when it’s not done correctly and safely, it could have the opposite of the desired reaction which is it might restrict weight loss and slow down your metabolism.Take part in the conversation by commenting on the blog on www.conversationswithzahra.co.uk

I would have loved to say social media in general but unfortunately, I think that would do more harm than good to my business. And since I don’t use Instagram for anything other than just for the fun of it, but it still tends to take up a lot of my time every day, I thought it would be a great place to start when it comes to taking a full break.Have your say in this conversation by leaving a comment on the blog at conversationswithzahra.co.uk

This is a topic I’ve had to learn to get comfortable talking about in the last five or so years because of the industry I’m in – when people come to see me to get personal training or help with their diets, many of them talk about lacking motivation or seeking my help because they feel motivated to do the work. And that’s all very nice and well except, many times, I believe that when people come in to see me they have a very unhealthy relationship with motivation in the first place. And to be honest, this goes for many other people as well, not just for the ones whom I work with.Take part in the conversation here: www.conversationswithzahra.co.uk

Today I want to talk to you about knowledge versus action – do you need more knowledge in your life or do you need to take more action? This is a question that I’ve been faced with a lot in my professional life as an entrepreneur and self-starter when it comes to running my own business as a one-woman band – having to wear different hats and often having to learn how to do things and learn things as and when they come. But I’ve also encountered it a lot as a health coach when I work with clients – in my work, how much new information am I actually giving my clients and how much is it just about helping them to apply what the already know so that they can reach their goals successfully.

Here I am – bringing up that dirty, four-letter word again; diet.It must be done. And because of the industry I’m in, I simply can’t avoid this subject – not now, not ever. But trust me, I wish I could. Because, I don’t know if you know this, but dieting, in its conventional sense, you know, the way that most of us know diets to be – restrictive, boring, unpleasant and so on – I have to deal with that on the other end whenever I speak to clients and just my general audience on social media. And let me tell you, it’s hard. It’s really hard dealing with people’s wrongfully ingrained understanding of what a diet is and what life, following a diet should be like. But hopefully, after today’s episode, you might be a little less confused about diets and dieting in general and with a little wish to a shooting star, maybe you’ll be able to enjoy altering your diet in whichever way you need to, in order to get healthy and fit and just Be Damn Happy In Your Body!Have an opinion on this subject? My weight loss mistakes

For those of you who might not know this, I didn’t start my health journey because I wanted to lose weight per se – I actually did it because I received a severe anxiety and depression diagnosis. And to avoid having to take pills for, potentially the rest of my life, I decided to look into more holistic approaches to combat my mental struggles. One of the things that continued to come up for me when I was doing my own research on the subject, was that exercise and a generally healthy diet and lifestyle had been proven to help with both anxiety and depression. And that is why I initially decided to embark on the journey of changing my lifestyle for an even better one.And while I was looking into doing that, I figured that I might as well try to lose weight at the same time if I could – it seemed like a very logical thing to do because chances were that it was going to happen naturally as a side effect anyway from leading a healthier life.In this episode I'm sharing with you some of the biggest mistakes I made at that time.Share your thoughts with me about this episode on conversationwithzahra.co.uk and don't forget to leave me a review of this podcast on iTunes.
