If your body is super reactive… even the tiniest change can set off awful symptoms – then you should consider the spectrum of mast cell activation diseases. What most people find enjoyable, like healthy foods, exercise, or even sunlight, can make some feel horrible. Often these symptoms are beyond just “histamine intolerance symptoms.”And while others around you might think you're just “being dramatic” or “making a mountain out of a molehill,” it's clear to you that your body is extremely more reactive than others. It can be hard to get a clear diagnosis and help if you are struggling with mast cell activation diseases – including those with hypermobility syndrome issues like Ehlers-Danlos.If your life feels like you're constantly navigating a minefield of unexpected symptoms to the smallest things, I'm joined by Michelle Shapiro, RD, to talk about what causes you to have a “highly sensitive body.”Michelle Shapiro, RD is an Integrative/Functional Registered Dietitian in NYC who has helped over 1000+ clients reverse their anxiety, heal long-standing gut and immune issues, and approach their weight in a loving way. Happy Satiated Saturday! Your struggles with food rooted in a lack of safety in your body are not just a response to trauma, they're also shaped by the commodification of health. The idea that a product, supplement, protocol, or routine could "fix" you and make you feel safe often triggers your fight-or-flight response. This constant sense of danger can intensify binge or restrictive food behaviors as your body seeks regulation. When health is commodified, it can never feel like enough. There's always another longevity bio-hack, another supplement, another "should" to do for your health that your body never gets the chance to feel safe and relax into the health that is here right now. There were a lot of health trends in 2024 including ozempic, cortisol face, the continued focus on eating enough protein, lifting weights, and the demonization of foods like hyper-palatable foods, seed oils, and sugar. So what's to come in 2025?In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I chat with my dear friend and colleague Michelle Shapiro, Integrative & Functional Registered Dietitian and the host of the Quiet the Diet Podcast about: The evolving landscape of wellness and diet cultureThe commodification of health practicesThe trends of 2024 and what we hope to see in 2025Healing from long covid and other health issuesCreating the foundations of healthThe role of self authority and curiosity in your healingAnd so much more....You can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/2025-forecast-of-trendsWe go deep in this episode! Immune system is the natural defense and it's an complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that band together to defend your body against invaders. Those invaders can include viruses, bacteria, parasites, even fungus, all with the potential to make us sick. They are everywhere – in our offices, homes, and backyards. A good immune system protects us by first creating a barrier that stops those invaders, or antigens, from entering the body. The immune system can acknowledge millions of contrasting antigens. And it can make what it needs to eliminate nearly all of them. This detailed defense system can keep health problems ranging from cancer to the common cold at bay when it's working correctly. ===================================== Subscribe on I-Tunes: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/itunes Review us at: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/itunes Visit us at: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com Have a question: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/question
