In this episode of The Jimmy Rex Show, I sit down with one of my closest friends, Curtis Marshall — a founding member of Dental Intelligence and someone I've been lucky to call a brother for over 15 years.Curtis helped build Dental Intelligence into one of the fastest-growing companies in the dental industry, now approaching $100M in annual revenue. But this conversation goes far beyond business. We talk about entrepreneurship, friendship, personal growth, and the principles that actually lead to a fulfilling life.Curtis shares the early story of joining a startup that would become Dental Intelligence, how data transformed the way dentists run their businesses, and the simple formula they use to help dental offices dramatically increase profitability. We also get into:• The four levers that drive business profitability• Lessons from building a $100M company from the ground up• Why focusing on what you can control changes everything• The importance of brotherhood and men doing the inner work• Travel experiences that reshape how you see people• Why curiosity is the opposite of judgment• How improving yourself improves your family and community• The power of focusing on what actually mattersThis episode is really just two longtime friends talking about life, growth, business, and what it takes to build something meaningful. The Big Idea: Marriage isn't dying - It's Misunderstood Emerson explains the dynamic that has helped millions of couples: "Without Love, She reacts without Respect. Without Respect, He reacts without Love." - The Crazy Cycle Many husbangs aren't bad men, They're tired. They feel nothing they do is good enough. So they withdraw. And when they withdraw, their wives feel unloved. And the cycle spins. Why "Happy Wife, Happy Life" is Dangerous When a man bases his worth on his wife's happiness: -He makes her his emotional god. -He becomes insecure. -He becomes reactive. -He slowly loses hope. Emerson reframes this powerfully, "Is your value God-given... or spouse driven?" God may use your wife to refine you, but she does not get to define you. Why Men Stonewall (And Why It's Misunderstood) University of Washington research (2,000 couples over 20 years) revealed: -85% of those who withdraw in conflict are men. -Men's heart rate spike into fight-or-flight mode during heated arguments. -Withdrawal is an attempt to de-escalate, not to reject. But wives interpret it as: "I don't love you." That's where mutual understanding matters more than communication. The Sexual Disconnect: What Most Couples Miss Men often think, "If she loved me, she'd meet my sexual needs." Women often think, "If he loved me, he'd emotionally connect first." The truth? Both want emotional and sexual connection. They just start from different ends. "You have to love her emotionally apart from sexual agenda." When she feels safe, secure and pursued, her desire increases. When he feels respected and wanted, his heart opens. This isn't manipulation. It's understanding design. Different Shades of Right One of the most practical lightbuld moments: Most marriage conflict is not moral, it's preference. It's not black and white, but different shades of right. Instead of: "I'm right, you're wrong." Try: "We're teammates. Same team. Same goal. Different plays."  That language changes everything. Emerson's Challenge: Picture Jeses standing beyond your wife's shoulder. When she annoys you... Ask yourself, "Would I respond this way if I knew I was doing this unto Christ?" You would die for her. The real question is, "Can you live with her... patiently, consistently and sacrificially?"

Harry opens with the soul of the magazine—why it prizes wit over celebrity and celebrates people “with snap in their celery”—and takes us inside Oldie Of The Year, where legends and unsung heroes share a stage and a laugh. From there, we travel to his “clearing” on the Pembrokeshire cliffs and the four moments that defined his path: the quiet impact of a brother he never met, a childhood powered by worry and exams, a sharp pivot from barrister-in-waiting to gossip columnist, and finally the long, lively challenge of editing a 100-page print institution. Along the way, Barry Humphries' razor wit, Giles Brandreth's encomiums, and the thrill of clean copy land with warmth and precision.Harry's passions animate every page: the “R factor” of great buildings, from Vanbrugh to Hawksmoor; the classics as living tools woven through two-thirds of English; and the deceptive ease of comic prose from Wodehouse, Waugh, Mitford, and Amis. He shares honest distractions—the tug of the internet, the tonic of Hampstead ponds—and a love of press trips where purpose beats the pressure to have fun. There's a personal twist too: his distant cousin Tony Adams, whose openness about addiction helped shift the culture around recovery. Two lines frame the wisdom here. From Virgil: “One day it will help to remember even these things,” a balm for hard seasons and a nudge toward meaning. From Arthur Balfour via Bill Deedes: “Nothing matters very much, and very few things matter at all,” a reminder to edit life with a lighter touch. The dream? To be remembered for a great comic novel—and, failing that, for meeting interesting people, doing interesting things, and writing them up right. If you love good stories, beautiful buildings, late‑period Elvis, and the feeling of wind-in-your-face clarity on a bike, you'll feel at home. Menopause can feel confusing — but perimenopause can be even more frustrating because so many women are told, "You're fine," while they feel anything but fine. In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne sits down with Denise Stegall — founder of Healthy Living with Denise, international best-selling author of Healthy Living, Happy Life, and widely known as the Menopause Mentor. Denise shares what sparked her own deep dive into perimenopause support after experiencing unexplained symptoms in her late 30s — and why one of the most powerful first steps is also the simplest: track your symptoms. You'll learn how understanding hormone fluctuations can help you communicate more effectively with your provider, advocate for yourself, and make supportive changes without feeling overwhelmed. This conversation also dives into the "midlife musts" Denise teaches women every day — including strength training, mobility and flexibility work, and why bone density and prevention matter so much after menopause. Denise brings a warm, no-nonsense voice to a topic that's often brushed aside — and helps reframe this season as one where you can get clear, get proactive, and feel more like yourself again. In this episode, we cover: Denise's story: symptoms at 37 and what led her into menopause wellness What perimenopause really is (and why it's missed so often) Why a simple symptom list changes your doctor conversations Hormone basics: estrogen, progesterone, cortisol — and how they interact Finding the right support: menopause-informed providers + holistic practitioners Post-menopause prevention: bone density, muscle building, and heart health Why strength + mobility matter so much in midlife Supplement common sense: quality, reputable sourcing, and what to ask first Denise's approach to nutrition, decisions, and personal accountability Free Resource from Denise Stegall: The Nervous System Reset (3-day reset) https://menopausementormn.com/nervous-system-reset Connect with Denise: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MenopauseMentorMN Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/menopausementormn/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@menopausementormn LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/menopausementormn/ Connect with Lynne: Website: https://holistic-healthandwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/holistichealthandwellnessllc Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/energized.healthy.women Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynnewadsworth LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lynnewadsworth If you want a gentle chat about next steps, schedule time with me here: https://calendly.com/lynnewadsworth/30min Free Resources from Lynne: 5 Essential Steps for Flourishing in Menopause: https://holistic-healthandwellness.com/flourish-in-midlife/ Midlife Morning Menu (freebie): https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8q1mf8y6z9mqhys39ep4r/Midlife-Morning-Menu.pdf Did you enjoy the podcast? Simple Purposeful Living Podcast

This week's episode is a special one because I invited my sister into the “studio” (aka my closet) while she was in town for my book launch. We hit record and talk about what it's like living far apart, her life as a twin mom, the impact of therapy, our Chick-fil-A orders, and how we navigate not always agreeing on politics while still learning from and respecting each other. It's honest, funny, and a little emotional in the best way. I also share a bit about Tiny Tweaks, Happy Life, which just released and is officially out in the world. If you love this podcast, the book is like sitting down for a longer chat with me, full of encouragement and simple, practical ways to create more balance, clarity, and purpose without overhauling your life. If you're in the mood to laugh, maybe tear up, and enjoy a real sister conversation, this episode is for you. Mentioned in This Episode:

Welcome to Episode 318 of Lucretius Today. This is a podcast dedicated to the poet Lucretius, who wrote "On The Nature of Things," the most complete presentation of Epicurean philosophy left to us from the ancient world. Each week we walk you through the Epicurean texts, and we discuss how Epicurean philosophy can apply to you today. If you find the Epicurean worldview attractive, we invite you to join us in the study of Epicurus at EpicureanFriends.com, where we discuss this and all of our podcast episodes.       We are closing in on the end of those portions of Tusculan Disputations that are most relevant to Epicurean philosophy today, so we'll pick up this week with [Section 34 of Part 5](https://epicurustoday.com/02-keysources/044-cicero-tusculan-disputations-yonge/#xxxiv-2).Cicero spends the final sections trying to chip away at pleasure being the goal of life by discussing how luxury, honor, and riches are not required for happiness. He does so generically without direct mention of Epicurus, but we'll discuss his examples and how his argument actually proves Epicurus' point that pleasure is the goal: those who overindulge obtain do not _in sum_ obtain pleasure, but in fact more pain than pleasure.https://www.epicureanfriends.com/thread/4921-episode-318-td44-completing-tusculan-disputations-not-yet-released/

The Daily Boost | Coaching You Need. Success You Deserve.

Want to be happier in 2026? Most of us are chasing happiness whether we admit it or not. I'm breaking down the stoic approach to living a genuinely happy life. These aren't soft motivational ideas. They're practical rules that cut through the noise and get you focused on what actually matters. From managing your emotions like a badge of honor to finding your real purpose, I'm sharing the ancient wisdom that still works today. You'll learn why life isn't too short, how to stop pretending you know what's good or bad, and why being tied to the back of a cart isn't such a terrible thing. Featured Story I'm sitting here telling my wife about this band we love called Hayfire playing New Year's Eve down at North Turn on the beach. She looks at me and asks what time. I say New Year's Eve. She asks again. What time? New Year's Eve, I repeat. She says it again. What time? Midnight, I finally say. Twelve o'clock. And she looks at me like I'm crazy. They could be playing midday, she says. People go out in the middle of the day. She's right, of course. But man, I almost got myself in trouble there. Sometimes the simplest conversations remind you that happiness is in how you handle the little moments. Even the ones where you're clearly not reading the room. Important Points Don't enslave yourself to annoying people or situations. If something's draining your energy, move on from it. Choose reasonable expectations and think them through beforehand. Know what's coming so you're never surprised. Feel your emotions like a Stoic would. They're your power when you control them instead of letting them control you. Memorable Quotes "You are a mind operating in a bag of chemicals that you call a body. Stop pretending you know things are bad." "Life is not too short. Life is very long. It's long enough if you manage your time and use it to your best ability." "We are all dogs tied to the back of a really big cart. You can control your attitude about everything that's going on." Scott's Three-Step Approach Stop pretending you know if things are good or bad. Most of the time, you're just talking to yourself about it anyway. Once you stop judging, find what you're interested in and follow those breadcrumbs to discover your real purpose. After finding your purpose, control what you can control. Focus on your attitude and response to everything happening. Send us a textJerzy Gregorek and his wife Aniela survived a perilous journey living behind the Iron Curtain in Poland while it was subservient to brutal Soviet Union domination. He describes the darkness of living there in the 1970s and 80s, and how it led to him becoming an alcoholic at age 15. He had a mentor who pretty much dragged him into weightlifting at the time of the rise of Solidarity, the movement that led to the fall of the repressive Communist regime and to the free Poland that exists today despite constant threats from Putin's Russia. Escaping that destructive, alcoholic path shaped his understanding of resilience and personal responsibility. He rebuilt his life — becoming a political exile in the USA, then a four-time world champion weightlifter, and later a mentor, poet, and a student earning his PhD in Humanistic Psychology. His core philosophy — “Hard Choices, Easy Life; Easy Choices, Hard Life” — comes from lived experience and years of guiding people through transformation. Jerzy founded the weightlifting program at UCLA, and Aniela herself is a five-time world weightlifting champion with six world records. What sets Jerzy apart is his ability to integrate physical training, creative expression, and psychological insight into a holistic approach to health and resilience. He emphasizes that emotional intelligence is a crucial element in overcoming life's adversities, and that it can be practiced, cultivated, and mastered. His three books, titled “The Happy Body: Mastering Food, Exercise, and Rest Choices,” are designed to help people embrace this path of strength, wisdom, and balance. The poetry book “The Happy Body: Food For Your Soul” helps with emotional eating. “The Happy Body Virtues: Daily Practices for the Modern Stoic” helps with emotional eating and self-regulation, while “I Got This: The Art of Getting Grit” helps with integrating the stories that contribute to building the skill of living a good life. Listen closely to the wise lessons Jerzy shares here and strongly consider getting deeper into The Happy Body to learn to apply the “Hard Choices, Easy Life; Easy Choices, Hard Life” philosophy to your own life. This might be one New Year's resolution for change that I can heartily endorse.Jerzy Gregorekthehappybody.comjerzygregorek@gmail.comThe Happy Body book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N21PL3DFacebook The Happy BodyYouTube @thehappybodyLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jerzy-gregorek-ab87475/Bill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram and Threads @stahlor and @we_are_superman_podcastYouTube We Are Superman PodcastSubscribe to the We Are Superman Newsletter!https://mailchi.mp/dab62cfc01f8/newsletter-signupSubscribe to our Substack for my archive of articles of coaching tips developed from my more than three decades of experience, wild and funny stories from my long coaching career, the wit and wisdom of David, and highlights of some of the best WASP episodes from the past that I feel are worthwhile giving another listen.Search either We Are Superman Podcast or @billstahl8

Do you have a Giraffe mindset or a Hippo state of mind? Soren Kierkegaard said that “The door of happiness opens inward.” Dr. Seuss said, “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” Wait, did Dr. Seuss really say that? The Cranberries said, "Do you have to let it linger?" We think you do. We also think that Dr. Seuss didn't really say that, but we know who did. So come and Linger with us and bring in the New Year correctly. You'll be Happy you did.By the way we meant to post this Monday but due to some issues, we didn't get it posted in until actual New Years Eve so some of the dates/timeline we mentioned are no longer completely accurate. The song we used for the intro was "Happy Holidays (Beef Wellington Remix)" by Beef Wellington and 2003 Christmas Chill Inc. The ending song was "Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante. We used "Linger" from The Cranberries. We also used "Baby It's Cold Outside" the original from the romantic comedy musical Neptune's Daughter released by MGM in 1949. We don't own any rights. Contact usLinktree: www.Linktr.ee/HappyLifeStudiosEmail: Podcast@HappyLife.StudioYo Stevo Hotline: (425) 200-HAYS (4297)Webpage: www.HappyLife.lol YouTube: www.YouTube.com/StevoHaysLinkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/steve-hays-b6b1186b/TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@happylifestudiosFacebook: www.Facebook.com/HappyLifeStudios Instagram: www.Instagram.com/HappyLife_Studios Twitter: www.x.com/stevehays If you would like to help us spread the HappyPayPal: www.PayPal.me/StevoHaysCash App: $HappyLifeStudiosZelle: StevoHays@gmail.comVenmo: @StevoHaysBuy Me A Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/HappyLifeStudioCheck: Payable to Hays Ministries or Steve Hays and send to 27240 213th Place S.E.
