We are a non-denominational, grace-based church located near Flower Mound, TX. At CBC, we believe in the simple idea of following Jesus and making disciples. We see that lived out in three ways. We gather together in worship and community. We grow in small groups that allow us to be known. We go out…

Week two of our “How We Run” series (Hebrews 12:1–3). Pastor Charlie unpacks the difference between weights that slow us and sins that take us down—and why the Christian life is about traveling lighter so we can run longer. Through stories (marathons, ultralight backpacking, a “brick” phone limiter), we name three common cultural weights—consumption, comparison, and anxiety—and hear a clear call to move from might to must: lay aside what entangles, and fix our eyes on Jesus. The message ends with three reflection questions: What do I need to say no to so I can say yes to God? What sin am I putting to death so I can truly live? Who will I tell so I don't run alone?

What does it take to follow Jesus for decades—not just days? In this message, Charlie opens Hebrews 12:1–3 and reminds us that the Christian life isn't about chasing emotional highs or waiting for “mountaintop moments.” It's about endurance. It's about learning to keep going when comfort would be easier and quitting would be cleaner. Following Jesus is more like a marathon than a sprint. Along the way, we discover that discomfort doesn't mean God has left us—it often means He's forming us. The “great cloud of witnesses” who have gone before us aren't meant to intimidate us but to remind us that a life of faith is possible, even in the hardest seasons. Together we learn that church isn't a place to chase spiritual highs, but a community that shapes us slowly and deeply into the likeness of Christ. This message calls us to hand off a faith that lasts—to our kids, our friends, and the generations that come after us. If you're weary, discouraged, or wondering how to keep going with Jesus, this one's for you. You're not alone. You're surrounded. Keep running.

In this message, we explore the often-overlooked concept of beauty in our faith. We're challenged to see beauty not as subjective, but as an objective truth rooted in God's character. The sermon takes us back to Genesis 1, where God repeatedly calls His creation 'good' - a term that in Hebrew also means beautiful and complete. This perspective shift invites us to see beauty as more than just aesthetics; it's a reflection of God's nature and a powerful tool for spiritual formation. We're reminded that what we find beautiful shapes who we become, echoing Philippians 4:8 where Paul encourages us to dwell on whatever is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. As we contemplate this, we're challenged to consider: How might focusing on God's beauty transform our daily lives and deepen our faith?

In a culture that celebrates hustle or rejects it altogether, Jesus offers a better way — a sustainable rhythm of life. In this message, Charlie unpacks how work, rest, and grace all fit together. We're reminded that we were created to work, not to earn God's favor, but to reflect His goodness in the world. Sustainable rhythm means learning to walk with God at His pace: faithful, slow, and full of grace.

In a world that's hyper-connected yet deeply lonely, presence is not optional—it's formative. This message explores why deliberate presence protects us from isolation, pushes back against curated individualism, grows compassion, and reflects the very heart of God—Yahweh, the God who is with us. We look at Scripture's call to show up for God and one another, why embodiment matters more than convenience, and how simply being there won't fix everything—but it can change everything. If you've replaced presence with preference, this is an invitation to come back to the way of Jesus: show up, be shaped, and let others see the goodness of God through you.

What does it mean to live in a way that reflects God's character? This message explores two of our core values: grace-saturated truth and relentless kindness. We're reminded that Scripture is our foundation and lens—helping us see God more clearly, ourselves more honestly, and others more compassionately. Jesus embodied both truth and grace perfectly, offering freedom and calling us to new life. At the same time, His relentless kindness shows us that real change comes not through fear or outrage, but through steady, covenant love. As followers of Jesus, we are called to hold grace and truth together—speaking honestly without cruelty and showing kindness without compromise. This is who we long to be as a church, and who God empowers us to become.

In this message, Charlie reflects on Vision Sunday and leads us into our new series on our refreshed mission and values. Together we explore what it means to see, be shaped by, and share the goodness of God. The goodness of God isn't just “better than average”—it's complete, abundant, and the right way for us to live and flourish. We're reminded that language shapes culture, and the way we choose to see the world shapes how we live in it. In a critical, distracted culture, followers of Jesus are called to swim in the waters of God's goodness and bring that goodness into every part of our world. This is a vision for who we're becoming as a church: people rooted in God's goodness, transformed by His Spirit, and sharing His hope with others.

Today we shared where God is leading us next—rooted in our mission and inspired by Isaiah 61:3 (“oaks of righteousness”). We unveiled exciting updates to our building—a welcoming lobby, refreshed worship space, and a fully secured, expanded Kids Ministry—so our campus better reflects the vibrant community God's growing here. We also announced our new name: Oaks Chapel Bible Church, a theologically rich, locally grounded identity that helps our neighbors find and know us. This isn't change for change's sake. It's about removing barriers, serving families, and strengthening ministry for future generations—so more people can experience hope and healing in Jesus. Join us for the coming Vision series, pray with us, and bring your questions—we're in this together.

In this message from Ephesians 4, we're reminded that God has given each of us unique spiritual gifts—not for ourselves, but to strengthen the body of Christ. Just as every part of the body is essential, every believer has a vital role to play. We're invited to reflect on how we can use our gifts with creativity, purpose, and faith so that the church grows in unity and maturity in Christ. How might God be calling you to use your gifts to build up His people?

A Spirit-filled life flips the script on power and influence. Rooted in Ephesians 5:21 and the example of Jesus washing feet, this message calls us to submit out of reverence for Christ. Submission isn't weakness—it's radical trust in God and recognition of others' worth. By embracing humility, we live a better story of God's goodness and love in a world hungry for power.

Why does God call us to sing? In Ephesians 5, Paul reminds us that singing isn't just a suggestion—it's a command woven throughout Scripture. This message explores the profound spiritual significance of singing. It's not about musical talent—it's about letting our hearts connect with God in a unique and transformative way. Science even affirms what the Bible has always taught: singing shapes our minds, bodies, and souls. Through song, we make truth memorable, shift our perspective, and cultivate gratitude. When we sing together, we are being formed into the image of Christ, building up the body of believers, and bearing witness to God's goodness. This week, let's create space to sing—whether in church, at home, in the car, or with our families. As we lift our voices, we may find our hearts lifted, our stress reduced, and our faith strengthened in surprising ways.

Our words carry weight. In this message from Ephesians 5, we're reminded that speaking psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs isn't just for Sunday worship—it's a call to infuse our everyday conversations with God's truth. When we let Scripture shape our speech, we build up the body of Christ, anchor ourselves in God's nearness, and encourage others with His faithfulness. This teaching challenges us to be intentional with our words—using them to celebrate God's goodness, share testimonies, and speak life.

Ephesians 5:18 calls us to “be filled with the Spirit”—not once, but continually. In this message, we explore how the Holy Spirit transforms our daily lives, shapes our identity, and empowers us to be a healthy, vibrant church.

What does real faith look like when life feels uncertain? In this message, we walk through the story of Abraham and discover five powerful truths about faith that still shape us today. From trusting God's timeline to holding hope when the answers aren't clear, this sermon will encourage you to embrace a deeper, grace-filled, and patient faith in a world that craves quick results. Whether you're struggling with doubt, delays, or disappointment—this is a message you need to hear.

In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, the art of listening is often lost. But Scripture reminds us: listening is foundational to living wisely. In this message, we explore what Proverbs and the story of Elijah reveal about hearing God—not in the chaos, but in the stillness. Discover how slowing down, creating space, and tuning your heart to God's whisper can transform your faith, relationships, and daily life. Are you truly listening?

How do we plan our lives without pushing God out of the process? This message unpacks 5 powerful planning principles from Proverbs to help us seek God's wisdom, hold our plans loosely, and trust Him with the outcomes. From Solomon's humble request for wisdom to the challenge of surrendering control, we're reminded that flourishing begins with faith-filled planning. Whether you're facing big decisions or everyday choices, this message will help you align your plans with God's purpose—and write a better story.

In a world quick to anger, what does it look like to respond with wisdom? This message explores what the book of Proverbs teaches us about anger—how to recognize it, respond with self-control, and reflect the heart of God in our emotions. From soft answers to slow tempers, we're reminded that wise living starts with surrendering our frustrations to God. As we look to Jesus, who met anger with love on the cross, we're challenged to follow His example in our own relationships.

In a world full of surface-level connections and growing isolation, this message explores what it means to build sharpening relationships rooted in biblical wisdom. Centered on Proverbs 27:17 and the story of Jethro and Moses, Nick challenges us to seek out friendships that refine, encourage, and speak truth—even when it's hard. True community isn't just comforting—it's transformational. Are your relationships helping you grow closer to God?

In a culture obsessed with more, what if wisdom looks like knowing when enough is enough? This message from Proverbs 30:7–9 invites us to pray for "neither poverty nor riches," choosing contentment over consumerism. We explore how trusting in God's daily provision can reorient our hearts from craving to gratitude. Through practices like fasting and generosity, we're challenged to recalibrate our desires and rediscover joy in simplicity. This sermon is a timely reminder: true abundance is found not in what we accumulate, but in who we trust. Watch now and consider—what are you chasing, and where is it taking you?

What does it really mean to "guard your heart"? In this thought-provoking message on Proverbs 4:23, we explore a deeper, gospel-centered understanding of guarding our hearts—not as self-protection, but as cultivation. Instead of building walls, Jesus stepped into a broken world—and we're called to do the same. This sermon challenges us to realign our hearts daily with God's wisdom, rightly order our loves, and live out God's redemptive presence in a world full of noise, distraction, and competing values.

What kind of fool are you? In this message from Proverbs 1:22, we explore the three types of fools: the simple, the fool, and the scoffer. Each represents a stage of spiritual immaturity that can keep us from growing in God's wisdom. This teaching challenges us to reflect honestly, embrace humility, and pursue a life shaped by God's truth. It's not about how smart we are, but how willing we are to grow.

What if wisdom isn't just about what you know—but who you're becoming? In this message from our Summer of Wisdom series, we dive into Proverbs 1:1–7 and uncover four essential habits that lead to a life of real, lasting wisdom. Wisdom isn't about perfection—it's about pursuing the kind of life that reflects God's flourishing. Whether you're looking to make better decisions, strengthen your faith, or just navigate life with more peace and purpose, this sermon will give you practical, biblical tools to start today.
