How do we know what we will compromise on and when in relationships? This is a question this answered more on a case-by-case basis then through a one size fits all approach. In this episode, we are going to examine the 25% rule when it comes to making compromises in relationships. We must distinguish between a compromise and a sacrifice. A compromise is an agreement where expectations are set as a result. A sacrifice is something that may not be agreed upon and therefore the expectations aren't set. Compromises are set in the soft boundaries on the outer core of the hard boundaries, morals, standards, and values. This is the most flexible of all categories and therefore the soft boundaries must be respected in order to avoid the ruination of other characteristics that may become impacted by insecurities, addictions, and other threats by a potential partner. We discuss this phenomenon to have a better perspective on how to deal with compromise and avoid threats.
Crypto's vibe check time: Jez (izebel_eth) joins the crew to dissect whether idealism is RIP, if cypherpunks should abandon hope, how Memecoins and asset mayhem changed the game, why prediction markets are both truth engines and regulatory minefields, and where real permissionless finance is actually winning in the middle of global chaos. Welcome to The Chopping Block — where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto. This week the gang is joined by super-perpetuals-junkie Jez for a spicy look at whether crypto has lost its soul — or if things are just getting interesting. Is crypto's vibe shift just growing pains, or did Memecoins and jaded traders nuke our idealism for good? The crew rehashes dreams of cypherpunk glory, debates the “death of the dream,” and gets existential about crypto's place in a world where everything is either a commodity, a meme, or a permissionless financial machine. Plus: War in Iran sends TradFi running, but DeFi markets are live, and prediction markets step up just as the regulators get weird. Enough nostalgia — let's get into it. Reagan is the only President to have led a union into a strike. Twice, with two wins. And that's why he knew how to a break a strike when he had to. But in doing so, did he encourage employers to be harsh with workers? Some think that's exactly what happened. This, and the joy of the tax cut passage is turning into concern about deficit numbers. EPISODE SUMMARY In this episode of Adventures in Legal Tech, host Jared Correia tackles one of the most persistent frustrations in modern law practice: balancing cybersecurity requirements with everyday usability. Using a fictional law firm scenario, the discussion explores how attorneys can safeguard confidential client information without sacrificing productivity or creating unnecessary workflow friction. Guest Mike Maschke, President and CEO of Sensei Enterprises, breaks down practical cybersecurity strategies tailored for law firms, explaining why resistance to security tools often stems from misunderstanding rather than actual inconvenience. The conversation covers essential topics including multi-factor authentication, encrypted communication, compliance frameworks, AI governance, change management, and emerging cybersecurity trends shaping the legal industry. Rather than presenting cybersecurity as a technical burden, the episode reframes it as a strategic business function — one that protects firms, clients, and long-term operational stability. Juliana Stepanova: The Slippery Slope — How Small Compromises Lead Teams to Abandon Scrum Entirely Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. "If you have it like once, you think it's okay. But it starts to change our mindset in the way that these rules, these frameworks could be changed. And with the small stuff that it's not correct, within half a year, Scrum will not work at all." - Juliana Stepanova Juliana describes a pattern she witnessed in an experienced seven-person development team that had practiced Scrum for years. It began innocuously: the daily standup stretched from 15 to 30 minutes because the team was larger. Then came the skipped retrospectives during release phases—"we don't have time today." Each compromise seemed reasonable in isolation, but together they formed a slippery slope that eventually dismantled the entire framework. The root cause often lies outside the team: misaligned Scrum rituals across multiple teams, company-wide meetings that override sprint events, and pressure from management to prioritize immediate fires over process discipline. Once the brain accepts that "we can skip it for a good reason," finding the next good reason becomes easier and easier. Juliana emphasizes a crucial distinction: teams that actively choose Scrum—those who approach management saying "we want to try this"—naturally protect the framework. They understand its value from personal conviction. When Scrum is imposed rather than chosen, the team lacks the intrinsic motivation to defend it against organizational pressure, making the slippery slope almost inevitable. In this segment, we talk about the challenges of organizational alignment and protecting Scrum events. Self-reflection Question: What small compromises has your team made to the Scrum framework, and are they leading you toward a slippery slope where the entire process may eventually be abandoned? Featured Book of the Week: Startup, Scaleup, Screwup by Jurgen Appelo Juliana recommends Startup, Scaleup, Screwup by Jurgen Appelo as her go-to resource for Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches. The book contains 42 tools designed to accelerate business growth, presented in accessible chapters that cover the most essential knowledge for agile practitioners. What sets this book apart for Juliana is its scope: it addresses not just team-level concerns but company-wide perspectives. "Sometimes Scrum Masters don't pay so much attention to the company level or between departments," she explains. "In this book, you'll find normal tools which you can apply all over the company, not only for the team." She uses it constantly for inspiration and recommends reading it at least once—though she returns to it repeatedly for reference. [The Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast Recommends]

Pastor Levi and Lisa talk about Lot and how he drifted through small compromises, including A RIGHTEOUS MAN...WITH A TORMENTED SOUL (2 Pet. 2:7–9), THE FIRST STEP OF DRIFT: CHOOSING BY SIGHT, NOT FAITH (Gen. 13:8–13), and WHEN THE BLAST ZONE HITS, “NEAR” PEOPLE GET SWEPT UP (Gen. 14:1–16; key v. 12). This is an episode of Pearls & Swine on the Evangel Houghton Podcast from Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, January 20, 2026.
Even the wisest man who ever lived didn't fall overnight. In this message, we walk through the life of King Solomon and uncover how small compromises, unguarded emotions, bitterness, and misplaced priorities can slowly pull a heart away from God. You can know what's right, love God deeply, and still drift—if your heart isn't guarded. This sermon challenges us to examine what we're allowing into our hearts, what we're holding onto, and what we may be slowly worshiping without realizing it. Pastor Levi Matteson talks about how nobody drifts away from God overnight. We drift through small compromises until what was near becomes what we're in. But God knows how to rescue His people (2 Pet. 2:9). Including 1. A RIGHTEOUS MAN...WITH A TORMENTED SOUL (2 Pet. 2:7–9), 2. THE FIRST STEP OF DRIFT: CHOOSING BY SIGHT, NOT FAITH (Gen. 13:8–13), 3. THE DRIFT IN ONE LINE (Gen. 13:12), 4. WHEN THE BLAST ZONE HITS, “NEAR” PEOPLE GET SWEPT UP (Gen. 14:1–16; key v. 12), 5. GRACE BREAKS IN: SOMEONE STRONGER COMES FOR YOU (Gen. 14:14–16), 6. TWO KINGS, TWO OFFERS, TWO “GOSPELS” (Gen. 14:17–24). This episode of the Evangel Houghton podcast is a Sunday message from Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, January 18, 2026.
In this Mystery Song Deep Dive, the Unfiltered & Undiscovered crew pull apart one of the most quietly powerful songs in British music history — “Beat Surrender” by The Jam.Rather than revisiting the loudest or most obvious moments of The Jam's catalogue, this episode focuses on the band's final single — a song that didn't rage against the machine, but calmly stepped away from it. Released at the peak of their success, Beat Surrender wasn't just a song — it was a statement.Curly, Braggy, and Rossy explore why The Jam chose to end things here, unpacking the cultural, political, and emotional weight behind the track. The conversation moves beyond chart positions and into intent: what it means to walk away while you're still on top, and why restraint can sometimes speak louder than rebellion. The episode dives into:The historical context surrounding Beat SurrenderPaul Weller's mindset at the time and the band's deliberate decision to stopThe song's subtle politics, tenderness, and underlying optimismWhy this track feels more like a closing letter than a farewell anthemHow choosing integrity over longevity has shaped The Jam's legacyThe hosts also reflect on how Beat Surrender contrasts with the band's earlier firebrand sound, and why ending softly — with hope instead of anger — remains such a rare move in popular music. As always, the discussion is unfiltered, thoughtful, occasionally irreverent, and grounded in a genuine love of music that means something. This is less about nostalgia and more about intent, timing, and knowing when you've said what you came to say.If you've ever wondered whether stepping away can be its own kind of victory — this episode is for you.
A new year doesn't automatically mean a new heart. In this message, we confront the subtle, often unnoticed compromises that slowly drift us away from God. Drawing from the life of King Solomon, we see how wisdom alone isn't enough when obedience is partial and the heart becomes divided.Small compromises don't feel dangerous at first—but what you tolerate today can dominate you tomorrow. This sermon will challenge you to:Stop confusing good intentions with obedienceRecognize the danger of divided devotionTear down the “high places” God never approvedChoose surrender over convenienceGod isn't asking for part of your heart—He's asking for the throne. In this episode, I talk about fitness. How do you achieve a coregasm? (00:42:36) This is my 2026 fitness goal, and I invite you to join me in this challenge. Even if we can't fully achieve it, we'll be better off for trying. This week's reading's charm was the Anchor (00:03:09), this definitely is your soulmate. Compromises are necessary, though. I use some sailing references to explain the need to cut ties with those who are holding you back. When something that once saved you now becomes a hindrance, it's time to free yourself from the line that has become fouled. What beliefs do you hold that no longer serve you? What connections in your life hold you back? That's the introspection for this week. Anyway, you'll learn more about my past and my former dreams this week. One thing I've learned from sailing is to always trust your gut feeling. Never let anyone wave you off when your life is on the line. Trust your instincts; they are there to keep you alive. ⚠️ These are performances and for entertainment purposes only. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Garrett Unclebach and Nick Surface unpack one of the greatest threats to every Christian man — compromise. Not the big, obvious kind that's easy to recognize, but the subtle daily decisions that slowly dull your conviction and weaken your purpose.Garrett shares from his Navy SEAL background and personal faith journey how compromise starts small — in your words, habits, and relationships — and ends up shaping your entire destiny. Together, he and Nick expose the three most common compromises men make and explain how to identify and kill them before they kill your calling.Garrett and Nick also cover the 5 most common compromises which are:Your word Your characterYour health Personal growthBeliefLevel up your life with IDLife nutrition by clicking here.Get signed up for the FREE Basic Discipline 30 Day Training Program - spirit, soul, and body by clicking hereApply to join Giant Killers here if you're a man that wants real accountability and training to become a leader.Level up your greatest asset (your thinking) with us in Mindset Mastery. "Character is what you do when nobody's watching."Twenty-three years ago, I learned this lesson the hard way. I was part of an international organization. A good organization. One with clear values: integrity, faithfulness, and spiritual leadership. But the leader, a man I respected, began a slow drift. Not a sudden collapse. A drift. Compromises that seemed small at first. Rationalizations that made sense in the moment. His personal values eroded. The organization's values eroded under his leadership. And I watched it happen. I watched relationships harmed. I watched people lose their place and their purpose. I watched a mission scattered . And I did what I thought was right: I confronted it. That cost me. I was punished for speaking up. I could no longer complete my mission. I had to leave the country I'd moved my family to. It was painful. But it taught me something that changed everything: Leadership is influence. What we live influences others. It's our character . Not just what we say we value. What we actually demonstrate through our choices. And when you walk in a leadership role, you don't just represent yourself...You represent something bigger: your organization, your mission, your values. That's a higher standard. Today, I'm sharing why this matters and how your personal values, your organizational values, and your leadership role all integrate into your Leaders Dashboard. Because if any of those three are misaligned or abandoned, the whole structure collapses.

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “It's just a little compromise…”? Whether it's in your health, your relationships, your finances, or your faith, those small choices add up—and can slowly pull us away from the life God designed us to live. In today's episode of Made for Impact, I share a deeply moving moment from a church service that shook me to my core and challenged me to see where I was still compromising in my own life and business. Drawing from the story of Daniel, I'll show you why even “small” compromises matter, and how living with obedience and conviction leads to freedom, health, and deeper intimacy with God. This is an honest, vulnerable, and practical conversation about being “built different” as followers of Jesus and choosing to live differently—without apologizing or settling for less than God's best. ✨ What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why there are no “small” compromises in faith or life What the story of Daniel teaches us about obedience and being set apart How your “diet” (food, media, influences) shapes your soul and spirit Simple ways to notice and eliminate compromise in your daily choices How God blesses and honors obedience in every area of your life

In this series, our panel holds a roundtable discussion about the central theme of "Unity in Galatians." Paul is angry because the Galatians have chosen the way of the curse rather than the way of life. He calls them to abandon Jesus plus this or that and embrace the gospel of grace through faith, which dismantles the traditional barriers between people - "for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). In this episode, I sit down with Darren Litt, the founder of Hiya Health, a mission-driven kids' wellness brand that's reimagining what it means to raise healthy children. Darren shares how a single disappointing Amazon order led him down a path of obsession with better ingredients, smarter packaging, and more meaningful health experiences for kids and families. What started with taste tests from his daughters turned into a national movement to clean up the children's supplement space. What I love most about this conversation is how Darren and his team go beyond just building a better vitamin—they're building moments between parents and kids. From personalized bottles to thoughtful monthly games, Hiya makes health a shared experience. We also discuss entrepreneurship, scaling with intention, and what it takes to build a profitable, bootstrapped brand that recently sold a majority stake for $260 million, all while staying true to its mission. Here are a few highlights from our conversation: * How a gummy vitamin full of sugar sparked the idea for Hiya Health * Why every Hiya product is obsessively formulated with both kids and parents in mind * The secret to building a best-in-class DTC subscription business with no outside capital * How experiences—like decorating bottles and sending monthly games—deepen brand loyalty * Why authenticity, not gimmicks, is the key to long-term consumer trust Join me, Ramon Vela, as I listen to the episode and discover how Hiya Health is creating healthier habits and happier moments—one chewable at a time. If you're a parent, founder, or just someone who believes in thoughtful innovation, this one's for you. The Justices seem intent on packing their summer vacation bags and getting on their way. Earlier in the week, the court's conservative supermajority upheld a Tennessee ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids. The logic behind the decision was…lacking (Slate Plus members can hear about this right now). In this episode, Dahlia Lithwick talks to Chase Strangio, the lawyer for the Tennessee plaintiffs, about where we go from here. Meanwhile, don't miss the significance of Friday's batch of rulings: co-host Mark Joseph Stern joins Dahlia to talk about the implications in cases seemingly about vaping and faxes and gas stations, but with much bigger implications. He also breaks down why Elena Kagan keeps joining the conservatives, and whether it foreshadows something bigger headed our way (light-at-end-of-tunnel-or-oncoming-train-dot-gif). We may think that making a small compromise here and there doesn't matter. But the truth is that there is inherent danger in compromising our beliefs or morals, danger that can sometimes lead to disaster. In this week's message from Revelation 2, Pastor J.D. takes us through John's letters to the churches at Ephesus and Smyrna, showing us where Jesus both commends and challenges these congregations. Jesus' warning should serve as a sobering reminder to us today: It's possible to be faithful to the doctrines and practices of Jesus while having hearts that are cold and far from him.
