Have you ever heard someone say, “Everything happens for a reason”? It sounds comforting — but is it biblical? In this message, we explore what Romans 8:26–30 actually teaches about suffering, trust, and God's ultimate good purposes. While the Bible never says “everything happens for a reason,” it does promise that God can redeem even the most painful moments for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We'll look at the dangers of misusing spiritual clichés, how Jesus approaches suffering in John 9, and why our obedience to God shouldn't depend on having all the answers. Through personal stories, Scripture, and practical next steps, you'll be challenged to move beyond easy explanations and into a deeper, more trusting relationship with God — even in the midst of life's hardest questions.

On this episode we hear from Mara. She put her languages degree to good use with internships in hospitality and that is how she got started. It is how she ended up in London but was not ready for the culture shock when she arrived in the city to start her career. She has always been ambitious and worked hard for her promotions. It was during covid, when we all had to hit reset, that she had time to reflect about where her ambition was going to take her in her career? It was at this point that she found a role with the Hospitality People Group with recruitment and found it to be the right fit for her. Which was also fuelled by a need to contribute more and make an impact in this life.

Bestselling author and recovering stage 4 cancer patient Kate Bowler (Duke Divinity professor and host of Everything Happens podcast) asks as many questions as she answers. Where did we get our ideas about what's fair, what can be manifested, what we're owed? When it comes to cultural messages of self help, what's true and what's a bunch of profitable nonsense? After Kelly sat down with Kate on the set of her PBS show Tell Me More, she met up with bestselling author Arthur C. Brooks, a happiness researcher who writes for The Atlantic and teaches at Harvard. We're still drinking from the firehose of labor news this week with another massive episode. We start with some headlines on AI in healthcare, a class action lawsuit against Apple, and follow ups with DC restaurant workers, Indian Samsung workers, and Teamsters at CostCo. In our first main story we check in on the imminent union vote at the RDU1 Amazon warehouse in Garner, NC. Workers are fighting back against the billionaire's assault on workers both at the federal and the local level, we run down some of the efforts. Once again we were so lucky to be joined by C Moline to discuss the recent rejection of the proposed contract by Letter Carriers around the country. Finally, we close celebrating the major victory by workers at Whole Foods in Philadelphia, who won the first union at the company with the UFCW.
