Creative Workshop is an historic recording studio founded in 1970 by songwriter and producer Buzz Cason. It was the very first recording studio established in Nashville's Berry Hill district and was one of the first independently owned studios built in all of Nashville. Berry Hill is now home to nearly 40 recording studios. The Studio was originally built as a place for Cason to develop and produce new artists. He and his engineer Travis Turk wasted no time doing this. Before the paint could even dry on the walls they were in the studio tracking a young songwriter from Mobile named Jimmy Buffett. When Travis left, Brent Maher became the new chief engineer and oversaw the building of a brand new, state-of-the-art control room and renovation to the live tracking room in 1976. Shortly after,in 1977,Elvis Presley was booked in to Creative for a week long Recording session, beginning Thursday January 20th. However,things didn't quite go to plan. I'm delighted to say Brent joins me on the show today to share his memories of that time with us

Steve Barile saw Elvis live in concert 7 times. One of those concerts was the now famous Madison Square Garden performance in June 1972 Steve attended the Afternoon show on the 10th of that month. This was the concert that was released by RCA on CD as “An Afternoon in the Garden” in 1997. Years later 8mm home movie footage of the almost complete show turned up and the sound was synced to the film and it was released as “Prince from another Planet”. Steve also supplies photos for the Follow That Dream Collectors albums. Ron Strauss began his career as a pilot after working on C-141s during the Vietnam War as a flight engineer. He was initially hired by an airline to fly the Convair 990, but also flew the Convair 880 during jobs with different airlines in the early 1970s. Terry Blackwood is the son of Doyle Blackwood, original co-founder of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet. Terry's distinctive vocal styling has been featured on many chart topping singles Terry joined the imperials qt in 1967 and two years later in 1969 the group were picked by Elvis to sing with him on his return to live performances that July. The Imperials continued to sing back-up for Elvis until the fall of 1971, and can be seen in the movie Elvis 'That's The Way It Is'. They recorded in the studio with him in May / June 1971, when Elvis recorded the Grammy Award winning album 'He Touched Me'. Nick Adams was an American film and television actor & screenwriter. He was noted for his roles in several Hollywood films during the 1950's and 1960's along with his starring role in the ABC television series The Rebel Nicks friendship with Elvis Presley began in 1956 on the set of his debut movie Love Me Tender The young movie stars quickly became friends and spent a great deal of time together in Hollywood and Elvis home in Memphis during the Summer and Fall of 1956. "The Rebel and the King" is a first-person account written by Nick about his friendship with Elvis. The manuscript was written in 1956 by Nick during their eight days in Memphis when the singer returned home for his Tupelo homecoming. The manuscript was discovered years later by his daughter Allyson and published in 2012. Allyson joins me on the show to speak with me about her father's friendship with Elvis. Tish Henley Kirk was Elvis' Private nurse from 1968 to 1977. Not only was he her patient, but a dear and close friend. She lived on the grounds of Elvis’ Graceland home with her husband and two young daughters from 1972 until 1983 and often traveled with Elvis on tour. In this fascinating and candid interview, Tish shares her memories of her time with Elvis including some very funny stories and what it was like nursing one of the most famous men in the world. Sandi Miller met Elvis Presley in California in the mid 60's whilst he was spending a great amount of time there making movies. As time went on they became close friends and she was regularly invited in to Elvis homes to visit with him.
