About This Episode: Lisa Marie DiLiberto, Artistic Director of Theatre Direct, joins Phil Rickaby for a wide-ranging conversation about one of Canada's most enduring theatre companies for young audiences. With the company approaching its 50th anniversary in 2026, Lisa Marie shares how she's been preparing to honour that legacy — from digging through decades of archives to planning a celebration at the Canadian Theatre Museum that will feature five decades of performance. Lisa Marie traces her own journey from training in classical acting at George Brown Theatre School and clowning with Philippe Gaulier in Paris, through founding her own company Fixpoint Theatre, to taking the helm at Theatre Direct in 2019. She speaks candidly about the realities of sustaining an arts career in Canada, the value of collaboration over competition between theatre companies, and how COVID reshaped, and in some ways reinvigorated, the work she wanted to do. This episode explores: Theatre Direct's history, mission, and preparations for its 50th anniversary season in 2026 Lisa Marie's path from George Brown Theatre School and Paris clown training to founding Fixpoint Theatre and leading Theatre Direct Why Theatre for Young Audiences is vital - and how to reach kids who didn't choose to be there Site-specific and participatory theatre as a strategy for engaging young audiences and navigating gatekeepers And much more! Steve Riley did not expect to learn anything at Graceland, but a December trip up the Mississippi, ending in Memphis with his wife and close friends, turned into an unexpected lesson in law firm growth, marketing, and the cost of success. In this episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Steve shares four surprising lessons from Elvis Presley's life that apply directly to attorneys building a practice and trying to protect a life worth living. From Elvis's personal code, TCB, "Taking Care of Business in a Flash," to Colonel Tom Parker's brilliant content marketing machine, Steve unpacks what lawyers can learn about discipline, leverage, marketing, and the power of a clear operating standard. He also explores the one award Elvis cared about most, and why it reveals something deeper about the scoreboard so many high achievers are chasing. This episode is ultimately about more than Elvis. It is about what it takes to build a great practice, how success can become unsustainable when you do not take care of yourself, and why a great practice cannot come at the expense of a great life. In this episode, you will hear: Elvis's personal code: TCB, Taking Care of Business in a Flash How Colonel Tom Parker turned Elvis into the world's first content marketing machine Why Elvis only personally accepted one award in his entire career The Jaycees recognition as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation and what it reveals about chasing the right scoreboard The hidden human side of Elvis — insecurities, health struggles, and burnout Take Care of Business, Take Care of You ___________ Subscribe & Review Never miss an episode. We all know - or think we know - Priscilla Presley. Ex-Wife of American Icon Elvis Presley. Mother to his only daughter, the late Lisa Marie Presley. Staunch Defender and Preserver of the Presley Legacy. That's what we all "think" we know. Priscilla has been in the news a LOT lately, and for all the wrong reasons. Take a deep dive with me about Priscilla and the many lawsuits she has been involved with over the years. Learn about the fractured relationships she has had with her family members, friends, ex boyfriends, and business associates - all of which have resulted in warring, conflicting narratives. Let's also address the apparent "pristine" facade she seems so intent on preserving for the last (almost) 50 years since Elvis' death in 1977. She is, above all else, a truly savvy yet complicated woman, but do ANY of us know who she truly is? Let's explore the headlines from every angle. This video is Part One of a Two Part Series. During the current cold snap, many Vermonters are able to take comfort in their wood stoves or heating systems. Others aren't so lucky. A growing number of people without permanent housing are living outside during the depths of winter.Vermont has had a high rate of homelessness ever since the pandemic — one of the highest rates in the country. The state used to pay a lot of money to house people in motels, but that program was significantly scaled back last year. Some of the money was redirected to shelters that only open on the coldest nights. But when temperatures rise, even by just a few degrees, those shelters close their doors. In Brattleboro, homeless encampments have been a repeated topic of discussion at select board meetings this winter. Meanwhile, the arts center 69A is working to provide basic services to homeless people in the area. It moved to a new location at the end of last year. Its director, Lisa Marie, has personal experience living in encampments in the Brattleboro area. We also hear from Charles "Chuck" Keir III, Brattleboro's assistant fire chief and town health officer, Becky Best, director of shelters at Groundworks Collaborative; select board chair Elizabeth McLoughlin and select board member Isaac Evans-Frantz.Broadcast live on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.Have questions, comments, or tips? Send us a textIn this episode, Lisa Marie explores the often-overlooked truth behind attraction: while we are quick to name what we want, we rarely prepare for what it takes to obtain and sustain it. Attraction does not begin with receiving, it begins with becoming.Through real-life examples tied to finances, relationships, peace, and personal growth, this episode breaks down how desire is followed by a refinement process that challenges habits, patterns, discipline, and self-awareness. What many perceive as loss, delay, or disruption is often the necessary work required to create stability, alignment, and capacity. This conversation centers on accountability, patience, and discernment, highlighting why growth frequently feels uncomfortable before it feels rewarding. Rather than romanticizing outcomes, the episode emphasizes respecting the process that shapes us into people capable of holding what we ask for.Ultimately, this episode reminds listeners that attraction is not passive, it requires consistency, responsibility, and the willingness to release what no longer fits. Another mind bending session if only because of the scope of the conversations. We begin with our usual catching up - Jennifer is doing her "Wine and Spirits" events in Manhattan Beach, and I've been doing guided meditations with people (she's at JENNIFERSHAFFER.COM) and I'm at RICHARDMARTINI.COM We invite Luana Anders for a chat, and Luana brought up a guided meditation I did the other day as she wanted to discuss something that occurred. Jennifer doesn't know what it is - because I haven't told anyone. Nor do we speak prior to the session. But during a session, a woman was accessing her council when we spoke to one of her teachers, and I asked him if he was teaching a class. He said "Yes. "Flying." I asked if we could visit the classroom and speak to one of his students. We did that and Bill Paxton appeared as he was conversant about the idea of "flying at the speed of thought." As we discussed that other class members started showing up and Luana wanted to refer to that - saying that these sessions we're doing is helping people on the other side how to communicate with their loved ones on the planet. Then we spoke with Lisa Marie Presley - who wanted to talk in general about the topic of "leaving the stage early" - as her son Benjamin had done so. Jennifer and I aren't dispensing any kind of medical advice, and if one is feeling suicidal, please call #988 and seek professional help. But we had a general discussion about depression, about the research that shows meditation can "cure or alleviate symptoms of depression" - we talked about the number of people who have left the stage early (Anthony Bourdain, etc) who have come to our podcast to suggest that people take up meditation to help these issues. And I cited the work by Richard Davidson at the University of Wisconsin ("Healthy Minds") that showed how meditation can "cure or alleviate symptoms of depression." Lisa Marie's son came forward and talked about what it was like for him to return home - saying that while he was met by "overwhelming unconditional love" he felt he also carried the trauma and sadness he'd caused others by his leaving early. I asked his grandfather if he wanted to weigh in and deferred to his daughter. However Prince came forward to talk about how "jumping off pianos" led to his pain killer addiction - but he doesn't regret "jumping off pianos" because it's a metaphor for living a life fully. And then Bill Paxton weighed in from his perspective, and I asked him about his pal Rob Lowe (who has spoken to Bill on a podcast where he showed him "how to fly" on the flipside.) Another mind bending adventure. Thanks for tuning in.

High Turnout Wide Margins recently traveled to the 40th annual Election Center conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, and spoke with election administrations and officials from across the county about how they do the work of elections in their communities. In this episode, hosts Eric Fey and Brianna Lennon speak with Lisa Marie Manning Bridges, the Registrar of Voters in the Parish of Orleans in Louisiana. They spoke about the unique nature of Louisiana elections, how the work is divvied up by different parish offices and how the parish works alongside the Louisiana Secretary of State to serve their voters.
WE ARE STILL HERE occupies a crossroads in the horror genre: that of the '70s & '80s-inspired supernatural chillers, the gorefests from guys like Lucio Fulci and the patient character studies of grief popularized in the '10s (anything A24 would touch). These elements shouldn't work so well together but I guess when you got a horror nerd like Ted Geoghegan writing and directing, it simply does.Paul and Anne Sacchetti (Andrew Sensenig & Barbara Crampton) have just suffered the death of their college-aged son, Bobby. In an attempt to lessen the pain, they pack up everything and move to a remote New England house with a strange 100-year-old history. The rest moves as you'd expect: Anne hears noises, sees things shuffling about on their own. She's convinced Bobby is somehow in the house trying to connect with his parents. Her husbands drowns the pain with whisky and denial. Once the supernatural grows too obvious to ignore, Anne calls their friends, Jacob and May Lewis (Larry Fessenden & Lisa Marie) to give the house a once-over and provide some much needed friendship. If you're equally a fan of movies like THE CHANGELING, DEAD & BURIED and CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, you'll find the threads tying these elements together. It's patient enough with its characters to allow them the space to grieve while also brisk enough to satisfy any genre thrill-seekers. It's a unique balance that leaves me talking about every individual piece for hours after it's over. WE ARE STILL HERE is a pizza-and-beer-and-shoot-the-shit-forum of a flick and isn't that what we want from a proper Halloween watch?WE ARE STILL HERE's 10th anniversary Blu-ray is available to buy now from Dark Sky Films.---Follow, rate and review THE MOVIES wherever you listen to podcasts!Follow THE MOVIES on Instagram, Bluesky & Letterboxd

We're celebrating the 10th anniversary of queer director Ted Geoghegan's feature debut, We Are Still Here (2015). This is a quiet indie film with some serious star power (Barbara Crampton, Larry Fessenden, Monte Markham, and Lisa Marie?!), as well as great FX. But a decade later, it's the quiet depiction of grief that we appreciate a great deal more. Questions? Comments? Snark?
