Good Morning Greendale: A Community Podcast

We're wrapping up the series (for now) and talking about our feelings on finishing out all the Community that there is, until the movie. Except for webisodes. I don't watch webisodes. Deal with it. See you, Space Cowboy. Ben runs out of energy. Mike eats all the pizza.

Hellooooooo Nippledippers! We're closing out the series (for now) and coming up with grades for the Season 7 pitches. We also say goodbye to one of the best shows on television. What a time. Ben revives Pop-Up Video. Mike tries to be Strong Bad.

Now here's a podcast who knows how to talk about the penultimate episode of Community! We're talking about Garrett's wedding and it gets weird. Abed films it for posterity's sake, while the group splits off and tries to do their own thing to prove that they are not co-dependent narcissists. It somehow goes even worse than you expect. Ben retells a story about Earth Angel. Mike gets a 1-star Yelp review.

Paintball is not back. It could never be back, because it was banned. There's no way there's an underground paintball game going on at the school, because, and I can't stress this enough, it was banned. Okay. Paintball happens, and the gang tries to figure out who stated it. Meanwhile, we're talking about birthdays, IP addresses, and whether or not you need a VPN to protect yourself from robots. Haaaaam, girrrrrl! Abed is tasked to make a movie using the three minutes of footage he has for now famous ham spokesperson, and it has to be 81 minutes long. Exactly. For some reason. It's exactly as great as you expect it to be. Ben is 72% plastic. Mike finds a tiny door.

Sub... er... Rick is back to woo Britta's heart and also sell Hondas to Level 7 Susceptibles. The Dean buys everything Honda makes. Jeff tries to impress Elroy. A whole cavalcade of guest stars show up. What an episode! Meanwhile we start a whole new show about how much we hate Avatar. Because we're monsters. Whoops. Ben is impressed by the 60/40 fold down seat. Mike gets one mechanical alligator.

Racist comic Gupta Gupti Gupta comes to Greendale and it ignites a debate about free speech for the ages after hackers indicate that they will leak the school's emails if they don't cancel his appearance. Yet again, the entire study group turns on each other. Meanwhile we're kind of like... I dunno, what just happened here? Ben asks you not to cancel your TiVo service. Mike finally gets to talk about a Virginia reference.

Convicts are coming to Greendale, on iPads on sticks on wheels. Jeff gets into a fight with a convict (in literal Battlebots form) and Britta throws a party with MORE THAN 8 GUESTS. Meanwhile, we're watching the English Language melt and getting stuck on perpetual Zoom calls. Gay Dean, Gay Dean, Gay Dean Gay DEEAAAN! We're begging you to listen to our episode about talking about the gay dean of the school board. That's because Dean Pelton gets a position on the school board but only if he has to compromise about who he is. We also find some birds in the WiFi and Derek from The Good Place shows up to yell at Chang. All in all, there's a lot going on here. We also talk a whole lot about the 1973 hit "Jolene." Why wouldn't we? Ben gets seduced by flaming locks of auburn hair. Mike gets instant nostalgia about Tech TV.

CRISIS ALERT: City College is about to release an attack ad. Did a dog REALLY get a degree from Greendale Community College? Does it matter? And what is with these cans of olives? In The group gets down to business uncovering the facts to these mysteries. Meanwhile, we're re-litigating Ben's attack ad against friend of the show Nate, we're developing some James Bond films with help of AI, and we're writing reviews for candy. Ben is a reasonably-chunky peanut butter kind of guy. Mike writes the most important review.

Today we're talking about WORLDS WITHIN WORLDS as we go deep diving in to virtual reality. We're setting time zones. We're moving files. We're deleting serial numbers. Also, Britta's parents are cool and we want some of those mashed potatoes. We're also talking about some 90s nostalgia in the form of cool folders, affairs, and Samurai Cop. Ben falls into the thrall of The Orb. Mike invokes the Popamatic Bubble.

We're back for our YAHOO SCREEN ERA!!! The study group is back, too, (with the exception of Shirley, who spun off). New member Frankie shows up to be a no-nonsense go-getter with a nondescript binder. The rest of the study group decides that want nonsense and very descript binders. Heads are butted and secret bars are built. Meanwhile, we talk way too much about Gritty yet again. Gritty, come join our podcast. We promise it won't be weird. We also talk about pizza, because of course we do. Ben gets hooked off stage. Mike is hot and ready.

It's the final season break as we prep up for season 6. We talk about grilled cheese, bidets, video games, more video games, and what we expect in season 6! Ben starts a fight with Babish. Mike becomes a Bidetman.

We're closing out season 5 by trying to get back the school from the vile clutches of Subway (eat fresh!) Jeff and Britta are getting married, or not. Annie has feelings about that, or not. Abed makes some meta quips about being meta. Also, Richie THOUGHT JACKS EVERYBODY. You know there is gonna be a hang glider. Meanwhile we make some painful decisions thanks to the opening bit, and we're forced to cold boot the mainframe. Ben chooses to live in darkness. Mike eyes a Mac Pro.

We're back! Just in time for Greendale to be saved and thus sold to a sandwich restaurant. Eat fresh! Or don't. Ben shakes hands with Richard Nixon. Mike decides to remove his pants and have a good cry.

Jeff winds up in the hospital and has a hallucination about G.I. Joe (GO JOE!). That's it. That's the point of the episode. That and the idea that getting old kinda sucks. Boy howdy it does. GO JOBRA. Also we talk about regional pizzas, regional foods, and uh... some talk about what actors are or are not in certain movies. Ben Britta's it. Mike looks up 90s toys on eBay.

We're playing more Dungeons & Dragons but this time it's all about Hickey reconnecting with his estranged son. And his son is the one and only David Cross. We're also talking about eye patches, our own D&D experiences, and a new Indiana Jones movie? Ben gets his first role in a movie. Mike creates his first D&D Warlock.

Annie and Abed play a 1993 VCR game in order to decide who the new roommate in apartment 303. Jeff, Shirley, and Hickey try to sell some stolen books. And Dean Pelton? Well. He goes on a tear. Meanwhile we're talking about board games, VCR games, and FMV games. We also get a financial offer we can't refuse. Ben makes goes on a board game rant. Mike finally gets the Payday joke.

We take a Community break to talk about Weird: the Al Yankovic Story. Ben is looking for the Yankovic Bump. Mike takes on a drug cartel.

A company of nerds wants to beta test a new social media app at Greendale, and by day 8, the world is already a dystopian nightmare. Conveniently, this episode lines up with CURRENT WORLD EVENTS. So that's fun. Ben becomes Brawnathan the Barbarian. Mike tries to buy Twitter.

In an attempt to get into Britta's pants, Duncan goes to a charity show and the rest of the group tags along, with the exception of Abed who ruins some duck drawings (and publishers were interested). Plus, Chang does a one man show to ghosts apparently. Meanwhile we're talking about nudist colonies, watches, and the funny papers. Ben shills for Casio. Mike sends a poorly timed comic.

Bear down for midterms as we try to cut the bureaucratic red tape around getting a new bulletin board installed. It's a winding tale that involves getting custodians adult websites, getting IT professionals better parking spots, and and The Terminator complete oversight over all bulletin boards in the entire school. Meanwhile we also talk about the horrors of doing IT work and weather it's better to wear a horse head costume or a onesie. Ben has a really poor choice of words. Mike sits in a corner and stares at it.

It's Troy's last day and as such, the school holds a giant game of "The Floor is Lava." Abed puts up a $50,000 comic to make things interesting, and things sure do get interesting. Also, this is the episode where they finally say the word Colorado. Ben goes DK Mode. Mike gets cloned.

After Pierce's funeral, everybody gathers to remember him, until a strange lawyer shows up with a polygraph team to interrogate the study group. It's another bottle episode, and you're not going to want to miss it. Unless you happen to hate canisters of hyper-verile sperm. Meanwhile, we accidentally show off how much we know about a little American sitcom called Home Improvement and share thoughts about a Community Movie before even learning that the Community Movie is happening. Ben is a filthy poor who doesn't understand how money works. Mike makes headlines.

The Ass Crack Bandit is terrorizing the school, and the study group has to solve who dunnit. The words "butt" and "ass" are said about 30 million times. The Dean traces a call. Meanwhile, we're talking an awful lot about Ben Folds and spoiling two different non-Community shows. Whoops. Ben falls in love with a toaster. Mike dreams about Fred Willard.

I could not get a regular episode this week due to work, so how about a bonus episode? Contains many, many swears.

Jeff has his first week of teaching at Greendale and it goes exactly as well as you'd expect (a riot breaks out). Abed takes a class on Nicolas Cage and loses his mind. And us? Well, we're growing extra fingers, doing some impressions. Ben is Cage-in it to the streets. Mike is Cage in 600 seconds.

We're back with season 5, and so is the study group (sans Pierce). Jeff tries to get everybody to sue the school but in the process ends up becoming a teacher instead. The rest of the group is as codependent as ever, even after their lives have fallen apart. Meanwhile, we contemplate ways to get to adult websites, talk about being intimidating in pajamas, Mythbusters, and a certain movie about a certain musician. Ben watches 182 episodes of Scrubs. Mike gets excited for a biopic.

We're done with the infamous season 4 so we're blowing off some steam by talking about video games, Ted Lasso, weddings, and and concerts. Ben spends five hours picking up boxes. Mike is just a tired man.

On the eve of Jeff's graduation, the darkest timeline versions of the study group cross over into the prime timeline in order to get Jeff to be cool again, along with paintball guns that transport the person who gets shot across the timelines. Make sense? Good. It definitely makes sense. Meanwhile, we make 20 minutes of Bean Dad content, for which I regret maybe everything. But the Twitter poll I put up requested that I not edit out Bean Dad. Ben becomes Pierce. Mike becomes Andy Richter.

Abed pieces together the heroic origins of the study group and also sort of does a prequel thing. Everybody gets mad at each other as they tend to do. Also, we piece together how Community is a prequel of its own. Ben dual wields Excel spreadsheets. Mike prefers [redacted] to [redacted].

Troy and Abed switch bodies for a day. The Dean gets Jeff inside of him (didn't happen). Britta goes through a breakup. And we're here to talk about it all. Plus, Mike gets absolutely roasted by

The study group has their first grown-up Christmas party (not to be confused with adult Christmas party), and in the process, accidentally hold their history teacher hostage. It is the true meaning of Christmas, if you ask us. And since you asked us, we also talk about lying, finding people attractive, Salma Hayak, finding Salma Hayak attractive, saying the f-word, and all sorts of other groovy things. Ben finds you attractive (beep). Mike is doing just great (beep).

The study group goes on an adventure in a hot air balloon, with disastrous and embarrassing consequences. We stay largely on task as we talk about it, except for the part about making a Tinder profile for Mike. Ben thanks Zuck. Mike thanks everybody but Zuck.

Britta throws a dance. Abed gets set up on dates. Jeff is kind of a jerk. If I'm gonna be honest I was up later than I meant to be editing this episode so that's all the notes. Ben gets an offer he can definitely refuse. Mike gets Changnesia.

The Dean goes "whale hunting" which means trying to entice a rich slacker to enroll in the school. Jeff and Pierce bond. Shirley and Troy bond over Physical Education Education. Abed starts a frat. Meanwhile we dig deep into the Neil Archives to figure out what Neil's last name is. Ben looks up body farms. Mike gets sticky fingers.

It's been a long time since we did any podcasting, how do we do this? I forgot. Maybe it's because we have Changnesia. I don't know much about Changnesia, but not knowing about Changnesia IS a symptom of Changnesia so that tracks. Or does it? No. No none of this makes any sense. But here we are talking about it anyway because that's what we do. Also, naturally, we spread the lore of the Bananaman. Ben dresses up in a banana costume. Mike opens up a fresh pack of hell for that good good shuffle.

We talk about Jeff meeting his dad and Shirley hosting Thanksgiving. MORE IMPORTANTLY WE REVEAL THE SEX QUESTION. IT IS ASKED. IT IS ANSWERED. IT IS EDITED FOR CONTENT AT THE REQUEST OF MIKE'S WIFE. Ben asks for a towel. Mike has an uncomfortable time.

It's said that history is written by the victors, but today it is being written by... two dweebs who do a podcast. And in that podcast we're talking about the study group getting into a fight with the German foosballers who make their return, and the school turns against the study group. Also, there's a plot line about Changnesia I guess. Additional topics of conversation include our favorite mugs, Homestar Runner, and whether or not Roman Mars has any opinions on the Greendale flag. We think he might. Ben does a Roman Mars impression. Mike drives from the backseat.

The study group goes to an Inspector Spacetime convention, where betrayal, jealousy, and fantasy are all afoot. Plus, Shirley and Pierce attend a focus group for an American version of Inspector Spacetime. Joy and mirth is had by all... eventually. Meanwhile, we dig into what an appletini is and check out some abs. Ben checks the ROI on his stocks. Mike looks up a Scrubs supercut.

It's Halloween, and Pierce has somehow managed to lock himself in his panic room. Now the rest of the study group needs to search for the keycode in some sort of Scooby-Doo, Clue (or Cluedo for our UK listeners) sort of thing. Meanwhile, we're talking about sending letters to prisoners, forgetting the lyrics, and hiding doors with BluRay levers. Ben creates America's hottest new game show. Mike drinks a martini.

Here we are in season 4, and Jeff tries to earn balls to go to a history of ice cream class. Annie and Shirley pull a prank. Troy and Britta wish in a fountain. Abed goes to his happy place. Meanwhile we're talking about what the first episode of season 4 does right and what it does wrong. And we talk about staying home sick when you're in grade school. Ben watches three hours of Muppet Babies. Mike does some free-form jazz.

What was intended to be a mostly not-Community related episode turned out to be almost entirely about Community. So let's get into it. Let's talk about season four before we start season four. Ben puts a take on the griddle. Mike becomes a drum master.

We are coming to a close on season 3, as Jeff gets involved in Greendale Court, Troy becomes a messiah of AC repairmen, and Abed has a breakdown. Hashtag six seasons and a movie. Meanwhile we talk about proper toilet paper hanging etiquette, proper BLT construction, and many more things. Ben goes on a rant. Mike rips things out of walls.

IT'S A HEIST EPISODE! Everybody loves a heist. Including us! And the Greendale Seven. Can they get the Dean out before Chang destroys everything? Meanwhile we're talking about... uh, sperm whales and Moby? Ben starts a fight with Dane Cook. Mike eats carrots after Moby got to him.

Strap into your chair because we're going into the most advanced 30 year old video game a 100 year old man could create. Pierce has to win in order to get his inheritance, but things go awry when Gilbert (Giancarlo Esposito) shows up, and when Giancarlo Esposito shows up, you know it is about to go down. We, meanwhile, talk a lot about video games. For some reason. Ben lives in the village. Mike has information on many topics.

Abed gets caught sneaking into Greendale after getting expelled, and it leads to him going to a therapy session with the group. Then it turns into another fake clip show! There's mostly a lot of fake flashbacks and there's not much to say here. But John Hodgman is in this one so that's cool. We talk a lot about throwing the world's greatest(?) party. And Doritos. And mac and cheese. Okay we talk a lot about food again. Ben is into chutes. Mike is into ladders.

Picking up right where Basic Lupine Urology left off, Starburns is dead and the study group now has to deal with the heavy emotions of losing a... well, I was going to say "loved one" but I don't think that's right. Let's just call him... a guy they knew somewhat. Things get out of hand when the whole school riots and Subway threatens to pull out of their sandwich contract. Meanwhile we talk about... uh... too much, frankly. I don't even remember what we get up to in this one, it goes some places. Ben depresses an entire bar. Mike buys UHF in 8K.

The study group's yam gets murdered and now it's up to them to do Community Law & Order: Yam Victims Unit. That's... pretty much all I have for the description because it's basically a one-to-one reproduction of a Law & Order episode but about yams.
