*car breaks screech* Let's take a slight detour, dear listener...We've reached the end of the First Doctor's era, and we're not quite ready to say goodbye to William Hartnell! So, what better than to close his era out with a trip back to where it all started? This week, we're watching the docudrama An Adventure In Space And Time, made in 2013 for the 50th anniversary, that tells the story of the creation of Doctor Who. Before the junkyard, the police box, and the teachers, there was simply a Canadian TV exec, an iconic "pushy Jewish bird", a queer pioneer, and a grumpy older actor, who came together to create TV history...We celebrate the phenomenal stories of William Harnell and Verity Lambert, hail queen Jean Marsh, and cast a critical eye on the most vital part of the whole shebang - the wigs. Arcana Coelestia 6858... Before the coming of the Lord into the world, evil genii and spirits occupied all that region of heaven to which the spiritual were afterward taken up; for before the coming of the Lord many such roamed at large and infested the good, especially the spiritual who were in the lower earth; but after the coming of the Lord they were all thrust down into their hells, and that region was set free and was given for an inheritance to those who were of the spiritual church. Third Round posts are short audio clips taken from Round 3 comments offered in the online Logopraxis Life Group meetings. The aim is to keep the focus on understanding the Text in terms of its application to the inner life along with reinforcing any key LP principles that have been highlighted in the exchanges.

Today, the Spotlight shines On returning guest, the innovative musician and composer Markus Reuter.Markus originally joined us for Episode 130 back in November 2022. He joins us now to discuss his project Sea of Hopeless Angels (Unsung Records), which began as several unedited studio solo improvisations by Markus on his electric touch guitar. Those recordings were turned over to mixer Stefano Castagna, whose sonic wizardry included not only mixing but fully collaborating with the recordings, adding new sounds and instruments as inspiration struck, including his own voice, various samples, bass, synthesizers, and other electronics. There are other inspirations at work in this project, but we will leave those to be revealed in the course of our discussion. It is important to mention the final collaborator for Sea of Hopeless Angels, though, and that is Aldo Grazzi, an Italian painter and video artist, who, back in the early 1980s, made visual experimentations interfacing a video camera with a cathode ray TV screen. The resulting video retains every imperfection of what was then state-of-the-art technology. All of the pieces on Sea of Hopeless Angels feature video accompaniment drawn from these videos, which are in the Grazzi archives, with two of them also accompanied by studio footage of Markus' original performances.(all musical excerpts heard in the interview are taken from Markus Reuter and Stefano Castagna's album Sea of Hopeless Angels) -- Dig DeeperVisit Markus Reuter at markusreuter.comDownload Sea of Hopeless Angels on Qobuz or Bandcamp, and listen on your streaming platform of choice.Follow Markus Reuter on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTubeSea of Hopeless Angels visuals + videosBe sure to peruse this episode's extensive show notes at spotlightonpodcast.com-- • Subscribe! Hi, we're Cinthia Varkevisser And Michelle Walters, co-hosts of Mind Power Meets Mystic. Our weekly show is here to expand your mind to what's possible, to uplift your spirits, to move forward with competence and joy, and to create a space for your collaboration with the invisible. Welcome to Mind Power Meets Mystic.Hey, hey, hey, party people. This is Cinthia Varkevisser, your mystic, and my mind power friend, Ms. Michelle Walters, is allowing me to take the platform today because I have something that I really would like to discuss. What I'd like to talk about is how to walk 5D in a 3D world. Now, this is so interesting to me because our world is changing, and it's very exciting. You'll see that people are starting to change their communication and say, "I hear you," or "What I hear you saying is," or "I feel that," or "Let me see if what you're saying is what I'm understanding." Oh, really beautiful things. And then you have this 5D space in which we go beyond these emotional things, and we are connected to a higher source. In this higher source, there's no concept of time, there's this greater generosity, there's this greater everything. And there's actually a loss in emotional attachment. That's not a bad thing at all. However, there are a lot of people who are saying, "Oh, lordy, lordy, I just want to be 5D." Well, in 5D, there is no eating, there is no drinking, there's no taking a shit. There's no love. There's nothing greater than love. But there's not this emotional connected love that makes us weep when we see our loved ones, when we are so sad when we, you know, it's really beautiful to be a human being. And so I am committed to talking about 3D, 5D. There are so many juicy things in 3D that we don't want to leave it in. I'll tell you, I had a near-death experience. And I had the opportunity to come back. And I channeled Induro from the fifth dimension. So I believe I have this really unique qualification about 3D living and 5D experience.Alright, let's first explain what the hell these dimensions are. There are a multitude of dimensions; my tiny little brain can only handle 12. And the way that I understand from Induro is that there are many more, but we are only exposed to as much as we can handle. And for me, that's 12. Maybe there will be more later. And we'll talk about that more later.Alright, so let's start with math. First dimension, think about just drawing a line. There's really nothing to it, there's no depth, there's no height, it's just a line, that is 1D. Along comes another line that decides to not bisect but to make perpendicular. And now we have two, we have length, and then we have height. So we have something to compare to and our vision. And our understanding gets to be a little bit deeper. Then we come to 3D, which is the way that we live. In 3D, it's height, length or width, and depth. And from that, we get this really beautiful thing called texture. And that's how we get to see different colors. That's how we get to have different feelings. It's how we get to have the shapes. So thank you, Mr. Mush, let's my math teacher, which is a whole different story. Who taught me about the line taught me about let me see. Let me go to my notes. Because I do have notes. Our line, our plane, and then our cube. So 1D, 2D, 3D, and this is where we live. 3D is where our emotions are. This is where our perceptions our judgment really is a perception plus an emotion. Right? So this is where all these lovely things are, this is where we get to have a body. And this body survives on sleep on eating, drinking, waste, sunlight.Okay, so we are delicate little creatures, because we need these five things. And we are incredibly sturdy creatures, because we've been around for a little while. So it's 4D, 4D is time. 4D is where a lot of us are still not really understanding time. And we are. It's not being moved. But we are tied to time when really, that is that's a...
It's no surprise that biological systems change dramatically over space and time, but we often ignore these dynamics when comparing biological samples. In the latest episode of Translating Proteomics, Parag and Andreas discuss why it's essential to take space and time into account and envision ways we can design experiments that explicitly incorporate spacial and temporal considerations.Chapters:00:00 - Biological systems as dynamic, adaptive systems04:45 - How current experimental designs rarely take space and time into account11:54 - The tools necessary to sufficiently measure biology in space and timeSome key takeaways from the conversation:Different biological processes occur at very different time scalesComplex, multiomic interactions can only be understood over time and spaceWe need to properly collect, annotate, and share omics-level data in order to understand the rules that govern complex biology

The new space race has sparked growing concerns about heightened space defence measures in recent months. For this week's episode, Jacquelyn interviewed Scott Dykstra, CTO and co-founder of Space and Time. Before diving into web3, Scott spent almost 8 years at the cloud analytics and data platform Teradata and throughout the years he held roles of senior architect, director of cloud solutions and worked his way up to VP of the firm's global cloud. As for Space and Time, the company aims to be a verifiable compute layer for web3 that scales zero-knowledge proofs, or ZK proofs, on a decentralized data warehouse. Zero-knowledge proofs are a cryptographic action used to prove something about a piece of data, without revealing the origin data itself. Space and Time has indexed data both off-chain and on-chain from Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon, Sui, Avalanche, Sei and Aptos and is adding support for more chains to power the future of AI x blockchain. This episode is wrapping up Chain Reaction's monthly series diving into different topics and themes in crypto. This month's focused on blockchain and AI integrations.Jacquelyn and Scott discuss Space and Time's origin story, how data warehouses work in Web2.0 vs web3 and the importance of data transparency. They also dive into: Blockchain and AI potentialIts OpenAI and blockchain data developments Future use cases for data and on-chain AIAdvice throughout the bull and bear markets Chain Reaction comes out every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. ET, so be sure to subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or your favorite pod platform to keep up with the action.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant's work, The Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics. Specifically it focuses on his discussions of the a priori intuitions that are the basis for pure mathematics, namely space and time. These are the forms of empirical intuitions, preceding them logically, and they also provide geometry, arithmetic, and pure mechanics their bases. The Everyday Lives of Gay Men in Hainan: Sociality, Space and Time (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022) by Dr. James Cummings explores the everyday lives of gay men in Hainan, an island province of the People's Republic of China. Taking an ethnographic and phenomenological approach, it asks how these men construct and experience ways of ‘sexual being' – as gay, homosexual, tongzhi and/or in the scene – and what these mean for the ways of living they see as possible within a socio-cultural, political and material context characterised by pervasive heteronormativity. It explores what it means for gay men in Hainan to ‘come into the scene', how internet and mobile technologies figure in their everyday processes of sexual categorisation and how these men negotiate orientations and disorientations towards the future in relation to dominant heterosexual life scripts of marriage and reproduction. This book offers vital insights into the production and restriction of non-heterosexual lives in diverse settings, while addressing universal questions of how certain ways of living are enabled and curtailed in living together with others through powerful conditions of uncertainty and precarity. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose forthcoming book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. The rapid and radical transformations of the Nazi Era challenged the ways German Jews experienced space and time, two of the most fundamental characteristics of human existence. In Space and Time Under Persecution: The German-Jewish Experience in the Third Reich (U Chicago Press, 2023), Guy Miron documents how German Jews came to terms with the harsh challenges of persecution-from social exclusion, economic decline, and relocation to confiscation of their homes, forced labor, and deportation to death in the east-by rethinking their experiences in spatial and temporal terms. Miron first explores the strategies and practices German Jews used to accommodate their shrinking access to public space, in turn reinventing traditional Jewish space and ideas of home. He then turns to how German Jews redesigned the annual calendar, came to terms with the ever-growing need to wait for nearly everything, and developed new interpretations of the past. Miron's insightful analysis reveals how these tactics expressed both the continuous attachment of Jews to key elements of German bourgeois life as well as their struggle to maintain Jewish agency and express Jewish defiance under Nazi persecution. Paul Lerner is Professor of History at the University of Southern California where he directs the Max Kade Institute for Austrian-German-Swiss Studies. The tension between science and religion is perhaps the greatest tension of our age. Is the world fundamentally made of atoms, quarks, and quantum fields? Or is the material world but a secondary realm, lesser in meaning to the kingdom of God? There are many iterations of this tension. But there are also bridge-builders; thinkers who want to bridge science and religion — or at the very least, science and spirituality. My guest today is one of them. Donald Hoffman is a vision scientist, who has come to the dramatic conclusion that space and time are not fundamental. They are, according to him, just parts and parcels of our perception. Therefore objects, molecules, and atoms are not fundamental. Consciousness is. We explored the scientific case for Hoffman's theory in episode 30. In this 2nd part, we explore its relationship with spirituality. What if Hoffman is right? Should we live our lives any differently? What is the meaning of life in a world without space or time? Do we find God behind Hoffman's mathematics? You can enjoy this conversation without listening to the previous one. Join the #McConnellCenter as we host John Wilsey, PhD, to deliver a lecture titled "Alexis de Tocqueville in Space and Time." Dr. Wilsey, associate professor of church history and philosophy at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, speaks as part of the "Tocqueville's America - and Ours" series. "Tocqueville's America - and Ours" is the McConnell Center's 2023-2024 programming, focused on studying Alexis de Tocqueville's 19th century work, "Democracy in America." Long considered a classic consideration of the origins, evolution, and future of democratic self-governance in America, we seek to read, understand, and examine Tocqueville's analysis and its implications for the United States today. Founded in 1991, the non-partisan McConnell Center at the University of Louisville seeks to identify, recruit and nurture Kentucky's next generation of great leaders. Our core principles—leadership, scholarship and service—guide us as we (1) prepare top undergraduate students to become future leaders; (2) offer civic education programs for teachers, students and the public; and (3) conduct strategic leadership development for the U.S. Army.
