Once again, Angie and I wrestle over something we both love and come at from different places. The Enneagram as I come to it is more a lens that helps me see myself. And yes, maybe help me be a better version of myself. This is what it is for me, at this point in my life and development. And it's how I introduce it to my clients. For Angie, the Enneagram provides a means for personal transformation that enables us to be in better relationship with people we love, and with the world. It's a spiritual thing for her, a sacred teaching that life is a gift. The Enneagram enables presence, and in this way, serves us in our relationships, both 1:1 and in larger communities. No wonder this is her approach, given she is “Reverend.” You'll hear this difference as we meander. No matter how we approach it, the Enneagram gives us an opening, the beginning of a deep conversation about who we are, and that is just what we offer today. We also dig into Hope. December is the season for hope, as dark turns to light and the year begins again. And, I do think we need to remember hope as our world changes in ways I, we, may not like so much. Please drop me a line if anything piqued your interest at meanderingswithtrudy@gmail.com. This sermon explores the biblical imperative to please God as a central aspect of the Christian life, rooted in a heart transformed by faith and guided by Scripture. It emphasizes that pleasing God begins with a sincere, inward commitment to His will, cultivated through diligent engagement with the Word, genuine love for Him, and a life lived in obedience from the heart rather than for human approval. The preacher underscores that such a life is motivated by the reality of divine judgment, the depth of God's love, and the desire to abound in grace and good works, all made possible only through faith and the indwelling presence of Christ. By rejecting worldly entanglements, embracing selfless love, and living by faith rather than fleshly impulses, believers reflect Christ's life and fulfill their divine purpose, ultimately finding true abundance in a relationship with God.

Every so often, my inner peace can turn to turmoil, especially when faced with competing demands on my time, relationship struggles, and concerns about a loved one. It also doesn't help that so much is happening in the world around us—it is easy to feel overwhelmed. That is why I'm so grateful to speak with Kristi Gaultiere today. Kristi is a psychotherapist (Psy.D.; LPC4 and MFT29887 in CA) and a director for women in ministry and pastors' wives. She co-leads "Soul Shepherding with Bill." Jane Willard and Dr. Jan Stoop personally mentored her. In this episode, Kristi and I discuss tactical strategies to calm the mind and still the soul and how to surrender our need for control. Angie and I believe the Enneagram is critically useful in helping us live lives of meaning and joy. You see, we trip over ourselves every day. And with time, we develop habits around that, grooves in who we be that become unconscious... like a background operating system, but one that doesn't always serve us well. The Enneagram provides us a lens through which we can see ourselves – the gifts and the challenges that are both burden and joy. This is how I approach the Enneagram in my own self, and with my coaching clients.Angie comes at the Enneagram from a deeper place, a reverent one. In this context, reverence means having a deep respect for someone or something. It includes a sense of awe and wonder. In this case, the Enneagram provides a spiritual portal for showing up fully as human, and holy, in our lives, and bringing our gifts to service of this world. Angie tells us that the personal and spiritual journey on offer from the teachings and practice of the Enneagram reminds us both of how awesome we are, and also, how much space there is for improvement. Understanding the Enneagram in our lives enables us to choose how we want to be in our life. With awareness, we engage with life from a sense of presence. Which, with any luck, enhances our relationships and creates ripples of goodness in the world. And that's why we're talking about the Enneagram, because all of us bringing our best sefl forth is how we change the world for the better. Love and be loved... that's the ballgame, folks. If you have questions about the Enneagram, or anything we covered here today, please drop me a line at meanderingswithtrudy@gmail.com. Send us a textNo name in the poetical world is more firmly established than that of Fitz-Green Halleck. (Ghost of Poe voice)Edgar Allan Poe wrote these words about Fitz green Halik for Graham's Magazine in 1843. This episode will take a look at Halleck as inspiration for some of America's first homoerotic works. My name is George Bartley, and this is Episode Episode 383 - to clasp thy hand in mine revisited. This is the first of a series of podcast episodes for Pride months dealing with some of the individuals in Poe's literary circle - some of the I people who were responsible for some of the earliest homoerotic literature in the United States. If you have been listening to past episodes of Celebrate Poe, you probably know by now that I really like memory aids - especially when introducing a new subject or individual. Probably the most important name to remember is Fitz-Greene Halleck. At first, I wasn't sure if the name was pronounced HALeck or HAYeck - but think of the computer Hal in 2001 - A Space Odyssey - Hal - who has the famous line “I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.” Think Hal - for Halleck. And if I say HAYLeck instead of HALeck - which I probably will do - just chalk it up to me pronouncing the word wrong - it should be HALeck.Fitz-Greene HALeck was born in 1790 - almost 20 years before Poe - in Guillford, Connecticut. Haleck and Guilford had an interesting relationship - it is said that the town never fully accepted Fitz Greene, and even though Halleck moved back to Guilford for the last two decades of his life, it appears that he never really felt at ease in his own hometown. Now when Fitz-Greene was two years old, two drunken soldiers were passing by his father's front door. The soldiers thdought it would be funny to discharge their rifles loaded only with powder right next to the side of the infant's head. They thought it would be funny to watch the infant scream. As a result, little Fitz-Greene had severe hearing problems in his left ear for the rest of his life - often appearing isolate in his relationships with other people because he just wasn't able to hear what they said.Thank you for experiencing Celebrate Poe.

Cannabis is complicated. It can mean many things, including a specific type of plant, the chemicals in the plant, synthetic analogs, or products that have these components. The doses of the most widely discussed pharmacologically active ingredients, THC and CBD, vary by product, and the onset and bioavailability vary by how it is delivered. If you believe the evidence for efficacy to manage symptoms like neuropathic pain, how do you even start to think about recommending these products to patients? On today's podcast, we answer that question with our guests, David Casarett and Eloise Theisen. David is a physician who wrote the book “Stoned: A Doctor's Case for Medical Marijuana” and gave a TED talk on “A Doctor's Case for Medical Marijuana” that was watched over 3 million times. Eloise is a palliative care NP at Stanford and co-founder of The Radicle Health Clinician Network.
