Last week in Charlotte County Florida, dispatch received a call about a disturbance just outside of Punta Gorda. Deputies arrived and made contact with owner of the property, Elroy Clark. Clark said one of his tenants was acting erratically. During the investigation, deputies were told that Clark may have had a warrant and asked dispatch to confirm it, and it was. More deputies were called to assist. They attempted to detain Clark, but he resisted. He became agitated and non compliant to verbal commands. Tasers, batons and OC were deployed to little effect. Deputies attempted to tackle, subdue and restrain Clark unsuccessfully. Less lethal munitions-- bean bag rounds-- were deployed, and finally Clark charged a deputy, who used his service weapon. Clark was struck, and aid was rendered by deputies until EMS arrived, however Clark was died at the scene. Former police officer Eric Tansey will take you through this use of force, using his experience with excited delirium and suspects resisting arrest to inform you the police officer's opinion on these events. One of South Africa's most prolific criminal cases, “The Station Strangler”, will be streamed on Showmax. The documentary delves into the world of serial killer Norman Afzal Simons, who is believed to have killed 21 young boys and one adult from the mid-80s to the mid-90s in the Cape Flats.The schoolteacher was convicted of the rape and murder of 10-year-old Elroy van Rooyen and sentenced to 25 years in in 1995. Twenty-eight years after his imprisonment, Simons was released on parole and placed under 24-hour monitoring in November 2023, opening up fresh wounds in a community where justice has been denied for decades. Meanwhile, the true-crime feature documentary, which will premiere on November 6, is produced by IdeaCandy which brought viewers “Tracking Thabo Bester”, “Devilsdorp” “Steinheist” and “School Ties”. On the morning of July 24, 1908, Delia Congdon, a deaf and non-verbal woman living alone in East Wallingford, Vermont, was found dead in her pantry—presumed to have been murdered while she prepared breakfast. At first, investigators suspected a local criminal known for his violent behavior; however, within a day, an unusual clue discovered in Congdon's barn pointed them towards Elroy Kent, a notorious local thief and recent escapee from a nearby psychiatric hospital whose petty criminal antics had plagued police for decades.
