Are you addicted to making progress in your life?Whether it's in your personal life or professional life, sometimes it's okay to take breaks, rest or simply maintain your current situation in life without constantly striving for advancement or improvement. Sometimes just being where you are is enough, and there's no need to feel pressured to always be moving forward. But of course this is easier said than done a lot of the time, because we live in a world that constantly encourages us to push forward and focus on making serious progress.I used to be someone that was constantly pushing for progress in all parts of my life but it eventually led to burnout, so allowing yourself periods of stability can be vital for both your mental health and productivity. It took me a long time to realise that focusing on appreciating where you are in life is often just as valuable as constantly chasing after the next goal and the next goal. Maintaining a healthy balance between progress and rest/stability can ensure that you continue working towards your goals in the long-term and on this episode I explore why it's absolutely okay (and actively encouraged) to sometimes have chapters in your life where you aren't making any real progress at all!If you enjoy the podcast please show your support and...Give it a 5* ratingFollow the showTag me in an Instagram Story @lifestylewithgeorge Share the podcast with others who need to hear this contentFollow me on Instagram: @lifestylewithgeorge

Do you tend to have more negative or positive thoughts? For most of us, the answer is negative. That's partly because of the negativity bias. This is an innate cognitive bias that results in adverse events having a more significant impact on your psychological state than positive events. It means that you tend to give more importance to negative experiences than to positive experiences, and that you tend to focus on the negative even when the negative experiences are insignificant and inconsequential. The negativity bias therefore has a very powerful impact on your behaviour and thoughts, but being aware of it means that you can start to take proactive steps to adopt a more positive outlook on life and ensure that you overcome your brain's (annoying) fixation on bad things! Having a process-focused approach can also give you the flexibility needed to stick to your goals over the long-term. It allows you to break down your goal into smaller more manageable pieces and to do one thing at a time before moving on to the next step. How do you stay consistent and show up even on the days you don't feel like it? Showing up in life is easy when you're feeling your best and things are going well, but it counts the most on the days when you don't feel like it and the little voice inside your head is telling you not to turn up. A painful truth is that if you only do meaningful work and take action when you feel like it, you will rarely accomplish anything or hit your goals. On this episode I explore how we can make sure that we still turn up and remain consistent in life even when we are going through challenging times or don't feel like turning up and doing what needs to be done.
