Par to padziļinātu pētījumu 2012. gadā publicēja arheologs Roberts Spirģis. Lai arī šādas grāmatas bijušas vairākas, pētnieks izvēlējies "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference" (Lūzumpunkts: kā mazas lietas var izraisīt lielas pārmaiņas), ko sarakstījis kanādiešu rakstnieks Malkoms Gladvels (Malcolm Gladwell).

I sat down with Cara Chatellier, the founder and creative director of Bubbly Creative, to talk about something that hits home for every small business owner, the little things. You know, those simple, doable tweaks that don't require a rebrand or a six-month strategy sprint, yet somehow manage to make your marketing sparkle. Cara calls them her “five tiny fixes,” and I couldn't wait to dig in. Cara's agency focuses on helping women-led service businesses stand out with personality and polish. Her approach is rooted in storytelling, strategy, and plenty of real-world experience. What I love about her “tiny fixes” is that they're both practical and immediately actionable, the kind of steps that give you momentum while you're building toward the big picture. Here are a few highlights from our conversation: 1. Show Your Face Cara's first piece of advice is one that makes many small business owners squirm: put yourself out there. Literally. Swap the stock photos and text-heavy posts for images of you and your team. A professional photo shoot is worth the investment, not just because it looks great, but because it builds trust. When people can see who they're working with, they're more likely to connect and buy. 2. Don't Ignore Google Business Think of your Google Business Profile as a free billboard that most folks forget to update. Add photos, post updates, and ask for client reviews. Even with AI changing how people search, Google still looks inward first. Keeping your profile fresh helps you stay visible and relevant. 3. Ask for Feedback, the Right Way Sometimes, the best marketing insights come from the people you want to reach, not the ones already on your team. Cara suggests gathering a small group from your target audience, maybe five to ten people, and asking them to look at your content, website, or social posts. No sales pitch, just honest opinions. You might be surprised by what they see that you don't. 4. Tell Your Story on Video This is the one that makes even confident entrepreneurs gulp: video. Cara swears by it because it humanizes your brand faster than any post or blog ever could. Start small, a short clip about your founder story or a behind-the-scenes look at your work. If you're nervous, use a teleprompter app or jot down a few bullet points to stay on track. And if you really can't face the camera yet, write out your story and share it with a few photos. Then revisit it every six months as a reintroduction to your audience. 5. Stay Curious (and Keep Learning) Cara's fifth tip was the one we didn't have time to cover on the show, a little mystery to encourage you to head over to Bubbly Creative and discover the rest for yourself. Trust me, it's worth it. Key Takeaways A few small tweaks can give your marketing fresh energy without overwhelming your to-do list. Personal photos and video build connection and credibility faster than any stock image ever will. Google Business is free, underused, and powerful, make it part of your content routine. Feedback from your ideal audience is marketing gold; you just have to ask. The more you share your authentic story, the more magnetic your brand becomes. If you want to dive deeper into Cara's “tiny fixes,” head over to Bubbly Creative and check out her insights. Because sometimes, it's not the sweeping overhaul that changes your business, it's the little things you finally take the time to do.

As we head into Labor Day weekend, I'm flexing one of my superpowers: organizing information. In this episode of The Pharmacist's Voice Podcast, I share the story behind my book binder — a simple but powerful system that helps me keep track of dozens of book recommendations and the 20–30 books I read each year. You'll hear how I went from barely finding time to read as a busy mom to becoming an audiobook enthusiast with a binder full of possibilities. I'll also share 26 books currently on my “to be read” list (plus the Spy School series I'm enjoying with my son Kraig). Maybe you'll discover your next great read from this podcast episode! Even if books aren't your thing, you'll walk away with this takeaway: what makes you weird might actually be your superpower. For me, it's organizing information. For you, it could be something else entirely — and when you embrace it, life gets easier, less stressful, and more fun. You just might help other people too!
Staying lean isn't about overhauling your entire lifestyle overnight. it's about stacking small, sustainable habits that actually stick. In this episode, we dive into the everyday choices that make the biggest difference when it comes to feeling strong, energetic, and confident year-round. We start by talking about why highly satiating foods are your best friend (especially during those times when hunger seems dialed up) and how minimizing calorie-dense “extras” can keep you feeling satisfied without the crash. From there, we break down the power of a “something over nothing” mentality when it comes to resistance training because it's not about perfection, it's about consistency. You'll also hear why making physical activity a lifestyle is key. Omar shares how Spartan races with his family keep him motivated, I talk about my time riding horses, and we both agree that nothing beats a simple walk. We also unpack the sneaky calories that come from what we drink, why sleep is the real performance enhancer, and how patience and consistency are often the missing ingredients in most fitness journeys. Most importantly, we'll remind you not to obsess over the scale or occasional feelings of heaviness. Progress is much deeper than a number. And when it comes to food, just because it's free doesn't mean you have to eat it. The goal is to choose intentionally, not impulsively. If you've been searching for a realistic, non-extreme approach to staying lean, this episode will give you practical tools and a mindset shift that can last a lifetime. Let's be real. “critical path” thinking is destroying your jobsite. In this punchy, no-BS episode, Jason Schroeder breaks down the dangerous myth of the critical path and introduces something far more powerful: the Path of Critical Flow. You'll hear: Why “knowing the critical path” is actually making you push, panic, and waste time. The brutal truth about crashing schedules (and how it hurts, not helps). The smarter way to plan using buffers, flow, and sequencing. How to spot bottlenecks and fix them without burning out your team. A hilariously sharp analogy involving babysitting, fake kidnappers, and parental panic. If you've ever been told to work weekends, throw labor at it, or just get it done, you need this episode. Forget panic. Plan with flow. Build with sanity.
In 1996, Dave Mowry had a total breakdown. He was driving down the freeway. under a lot of stress, and his mind was racing. And then, his mind snapped. He heard it like a snapping twig and felt it like a small electric shock in his brain. He was broken. He lost everything and was homeless for 18 months. He was living in hell for 14 months. Dave Mowry's story is one that you will want to share with anyone who is struggling with or has a family member battling mental illness. His story is one of inspiration, healing, and hope. He has lived with bipolar disorder and severe anxiety his entire adult life. He was a successful businessman until he lost it all due to mental illness. After 14 lost years and being homeless with his family for 18 months, Dave took a stand-up comedy class for people with a mental illness. It changed everything. He went from his mental illness having control over him to finding the humor in his experiences and regaining control of his life. Dave teaches stand-up comedy to people with a mental illness and performs on stage. We find humor in our pain and tell our stories one joke at a time. We let people know that they are not alone and that it is okay to laugh about our challenges, and shatter stigma. Winner: Best bipolar disorder books of all time by BookAuthority. What started as a couple of blog posts blossomed into a following of over one million people who have read and been touched by Mowry's stories. The most extraordinary thing he found when writing about his experiences is that the most common comment about his work is "OMG, that's me". You are telling my story. I don't feel so alone now. Living with mental illness is hard, but it's especially difficult when dealing with more than one condition at the same time. Many books about coping with mental illness focus on one disorder, such as anxiety, panic attacks, or depression. Because Dave Mowry didn't see any that dealt with his situation of living with multiple disorders simultaneously, he decided to write about it himself. OMG That's Me! It is sometimes funny, often poignant, but always deeply honest, open, and personal. Mowry's stories let others know there is help and there is hope, and that they too can recover and live a full life. This book is a must-read for family members and friends who will gain true insight into the experiences of loved ones living with a mental illness. This book is a must-read for mental health professionals who will better understand the symptoms faced by their patients. And ordinary people will see the strength, resilience, and beauty of people who will shatter the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Part 1 Blink by Malcolm Gladwell Summary"Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" by Malcolm Gladwell explores how our brains make quick decisions and form judgments in the blink of an eye. The book delves into the concept of rapid cognition, or the ability to think without prolonged deliberation, and highlights both the strengths and weaknesses of this instinctive way of thinking. Key Themes:Thin-slicing: Gladwell describes thin-slicing as the ability of our unconscious to draw meaningful conclusions based on limited information. He presents several examples, such as art experts determining the authenticity of a statue within seconds based solely on gut feeling and not exhaustive analysis. The Unconscious Mind: The book emphasizes the power of the unconscious mind in decision-making. Gladwell argues that our instincts and first impressions often inform better decisions than lengthy rational analyses, although this is not always the case.Implicit Bias: Gladwell discusses how our snap judgments can be influenced by inherent biases, which can lead to negative consequences. For example, he explores how stereotypes can impact decisions in high-stakes environments such as law enforcement and hiring practices. The Importance of Context: The context in which information is received plays a critical role in shaping our immediate judgments. Gladwell highlights how environmental factors and prior experiences can affect our perceptions and decisions.Limitations of Snap Judgments: While rapid cognition can be effective, it is also subject to errors. Gladwell warns readers of the pitfalls of relying solely on instinct, advocating for a blend of intuition and analytical thinking when necessary. Examples and Case Studies:The book is rich in anecdotes and research findings, including the story of police shooting incidents, the evaluation of expertise in various fields, and studies on the art world. For instance, Gladwell recounts the case of a tennis coach who can anticipate a player's likelihood of success based on minute movements, illustrating the power of intuition honed through experience. Conclusion:"Blink" promotes the idea that intuition and quick thinking can be incredibly potent tools in decision-making processes. However, it also cautions against the potential dangers of snap judgments that arise from biases and lacks of information. Ultimately, Gladwell encourages readers to cultivate discernment between moments when rapid cognition serves us well and instances where deeper analysis is crucial.Part 2 Blink AuthorMalcolm Gladwell is a Canadian journalist, author, and public speaker known for his unique insights into sociology and psychology and their impact on business and everyday life. He gained significant fame through his works that explore the nuances of human behavior and decision-making. Blink: The Power of Thinking Without ThinkingRelease Date: The book "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" was published on January 11, 2005. Overview: In "Blink", Gladwell discusses the concept of quick decision-making, also known as "thin-slicing," which refers to our ability to make decisions in a split second based on minimal information. He explores how these snap judgments can be both beneficial and detrimental. Part 1 David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell Summary"David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants" is a non-fiction book by Malcolm Gladwell published in 2013. In this book, Gladwell explores the dynamics of struggle and advantage, arguing that what we often perceive as disadvantages can actually be sources of strength and that the strongest opponents might not be as formidable as they appear. Key Themes and Concepts:Reinterpretation of Underdog Story: The book famously reexamines the biblical story of David and Goliath. Gladwell argues that David's victory over Goliath was not just a matter of faith but also strategic advantages. David, a skilled sling shooter, had the upper hand due to his agility and range advantage.Disadvantages Turned into Strengths: Gladwell posits that perceived disadvantages, like being an underdog or facing overwhelming odds, can lead to innovative thinking and resilience. He illustrates this through examples from various fields, including education, business, and civil rights.Dyspraxia and Advantage: In discussing personal experiences, Gladwell brings up his own struggles with dyspraxia (a condition affecting motor coordination), which led him to develop other skills such as storytelling and analytical thinking—demonstrating that challenges can cultivate unique strengths.Education System: The book examines how smaller class sizes and less traditional educational methods can lead to better outcomes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, highlighting that unconventional strategies can turn weaknesses into strengths.Civil Rights Movement: Gladwell discusses the civil rights movement, arguing that the movement's success was partly due to its strategizing, grassroots organization, and ability to leverage the power of the 'underdog' narrative to garner support and change public perception. The Theory of the "Inverted U": The author presents the idea that too much adversity can overwhelm one's capabilities, while a certain level of challenge can provoke resilience. He outlines the importance of finding the right balance between challenge and support. Conclusion:In "David and Goliath", Gladwell encourages readers to reconsider their judgments about strength and weakness. By showcasing how underdogs can and do win against giants through intelligence, creativity, and perseverance, he invites us to look beyond conventional definitions of success and power. The book challenges the reader to see the silver lining in adversity and to recognize the value of unconventional approaches.Part 2 David and Goliath AuthorMalcolm Gladwell is a Canadian journalist, author, and public speaker known for his thought-provoking works that explore the sociological and psychological implications of various subjects. He was born on September 3, 1963, in Fareham, England, and raised in Ontario, Canada.David and Goliath was published on October 1, 2013. The book explores the dynamics of what defines strength and weakness, using various case studies and narratives, including the biblical story of David and Goliath, to discuss how perceived disadvantages can lead to better outcomes. In addition to David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell has written several other influential books, including:The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference (2000) An exploration of how ideas spread and why certain phenomena become trends.Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking (2005) Examines the power of rapid cognition and intuition in decision-making.Outliers: The Story of Success (2008) Analyzes the factors that contribute to high levels of success, emphasizing the importance of context, opportunity, and cultural legacy. What the Dog Saw: And Other Adventures (2009) A collection of selected essays from Gladwell's writing in The New
