Well, @elyarchi6981 sent a threat to @ThePrintHouse over their video where they were not only honest, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Should companies even be allowed to do this??? Creators are trusted for our opinions, that is the only thing we have, our integrity, and part of printer reviews and first looks is that we have full control over what is said and why. Yes, we often want to give the companies the benefit of the doubt, but when they send threatening messages, it is not okay. Here is what @elyarchi6981 said to @ThePrintHouse :"If the video is not removed, I will be forced to escalate the situation by reporting the issue to YouTube and informing our industry contacts and other brand partners of this breach of professional conduct."This is 100% NOT OKAY, so, let's talk about it. Hanging out with Jacob @construct3d talking all about the latest firmware update from @BambuLab , its implications for users, as well as its implications for businesses! This latest update bricks users' ability to choose which slicer they want without using a new software from Bambu, further making it more difficult to use something other than Bambu Studio, with many users preferring @OrcaSlicer from @softfever5570 to Bambu Studio, this is a major blow and really restricts one's right to choose. This week we are joined by Mitch of Polar Filament. A filament manufacturer that did not actually intend to start making filament, but they make some awesome materials right here in the USA! Based in Troy, Michigan, near Detroit, Polar has an interesting history surrounded by industrial manufacturing and realizing that if they wanted the PERFECT tolerances and to be able to control filament, they had to do it themselves! Some about Mitch and Polar: Mitch is a Software Engineer from Michigan Tech. He worked at TI Automotive, Epic, and Kuka Robotics and then co-founded Polar Filament along with two friends. Mitch works on the R&D side of things, which is mostly PLC programming, database/software design for the filament analytics, and experimenting with new materials. Polar Filament is a brand name for the filament manufactured by Douglas Innovation. In addition to Polar Filament, Douglas Innovation also does white-label manufacturing for other filament brands. Polar Filament was born out of necessity because it was too challenging to get reliable and consistent filament that didn't take months to arrive. Production is rooted in the automotive industry, so most of the quality standards are dictated by the strict requirements of the big automotive manufacturers. The most important parts of producing reliable filament is to measure everything. "Good Filament" shouldn't be subjective, but measured and quantifiable. Measuring and logging manufacturing metrics are what allow consistent results every time. Every single spool leaves a footprint, and the manufacturing data can be looked up. Recently, the focus of Polar Filament has started shifting into new materials (like PHA and Nylon) as well as novelty filaments (like color-changing, sparkly, and silk). This week we are joined by Phil of Ember Prototypes, a company that makes custom build plates for your 3d printer with ANYTHING printed on it that you may like!! They are also known for their CXC calibration camera that is especially useful for toolchanger 3d printers like the @Prusa3D XL and @E3DOnline toolchanger. Those of you who own a small business and want to brand the bottom side of your print without ANY additional work, check out the Ember Prototype CUSTOM build plates here: https://www.emberprototypes.com/products/custom-textured-pei Some info from Phil: Who I am: Phil Tsao, electrical engineer turned mechatronics engineer and founder of Ember Prototypes I've worked on many things from wearables to medical devices to particle accelerators My interest in 3D printing started back in 2014 with my Printrbot Simple Metal What is Ember: A small, rapid prototyping, consulting and product design company in Vancouver, Canada. Ember focuses on three things 1 - we're a service bureau helping other engineers and tech startups prototype and manufacture parts using 3D printing, laser cutting, etc. 2 - we do product design and consulting and help clients bring their ideas from prototype to product 3 - we manufacture custom products that solve specific problems related to 3D printing, additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping Right now we're probably best known for our custom textured build plates and/or CXC calibration tool __________________________________ Do you have an idea you want to get off the ground? NOTE: This episode has QUITE a bit of cussing in it, you have been warned! It is still a good one, that has a charitable purpose, so enjoy! This week we are joined by Daddy Wazzy, AKA Chris, who we recently met for the first time at RMRRF 24 (thats where the photo comes from!). We have been friends online for a while now and he is an exemplary individual to others and the community, so today, on fathers day, lets celebrate Daddy ha ha! Some info he wrote up: A father to 3, 2 boys and a girl. A grandfather to3 as well, all boys with a set of twins. I started my maker career early then I found 3d printing. An 8 year Navy veteran who spent most of his time serving in the Pacific. Stationed at Pearl Harbor on a Fast Frigate then some shore duty in Australia. With great risk comes great reward, stress, anxiety, loss of hair and appetite. But I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Live life, don't watch from the sideline. __________________________________ Do you have an idea you want to get off the ground? This week we are joined by Iwan and Waldo, the dynamic duo behind @depositionsound , a company focused on 3d printing speaker enclosures that sound AMAZING! From the FDM 5's, FDM Geo's and now the FDM 4's they are challenging the norm for how speakers should be made and how 3d printed speakers actually sound! Their mission: To provide the absolute best sound experience at a budget price point using additive manufacturing for cabinet construction. Eliminate waste (no MDF/wood off-cuts or dust), promote the decentralization of manufacturing through 3D printing partnerships, etc. We are constantly creating! Newer, better, "funner" designs are currently in the works. Finally, we try not to use hyperbole or overly exotic language to describe our speakers. Yes, we pursue excellence. But we are not a high-end audio company chasing the last 0.01% of sonic nirvana. Instead, we're here to promote fun, creativity, and turn people on to the joy of good audio. Hold us accountable. We welcome feedback and always strive to do what is right. Check them out: https://depositionsound.com __________________________________ Do you have an idea you want to get off the ground? From the Owner: Robert Klotz - I make and share a wide variety of 3d printed projects, most notably 8-Track. 8-Track is a modular automated filament changing system. At it's core it as simple as a lane based MMU can get. Being modular 8-track is not only scalable but can employ from the most basic of features to full fledged spool management and inventory. 8-Track is a WIP.
