Irish singer-songwriter Perry Blake, who largely came to fame in France and flourished with a career that brought opportunity throughout Europe, presents his new album 'Death of a Society Girl', released via Moochin' About Records with nine compositions on offer, including the focus track 'Let's Fall In Love'. His first music in five years, following the critically acclaimed ‘Songs of Praise' (5 Stars MOJO), this album also marks 26 years for Blake as a recording artist. Very much of the here and now, this album also offers traces of Perry's previous heady work - not dissimilar to his French Top-40 eponymous debut album - finding Perry at the height of his powers. Earlier, Blake released the epic title track 'Death of a Society Girl' featuring British actor Paul McGann, known worldwide for his roles in BBC's 'Doctor Who', 'Withnail & I', 'Empire of the Sun', 'Alien 3' and 'Queen of the Damned'. He also teased the light-filled cinematic single 'Concertina' shortly before the album's release. Co-written and co-produced with long-term collaborator Graham Murphy (Clannad, Sharon Shannon, Marie Brennan), this album features Blake's hallmark surrealist lyrics and original artwork by Syrian-born artist Helen Abbas. Known for his delicate, downtempo and beautifully melancholic output and uniquely soothing timbre, he is well known as a collaborator of Françoise Hardy, who sang on 'War in France' (from his album 'Still Life'). He also contributed lyrics for her platinum-selling album 'Tant de belles choses', having co-written, mixed and produced two songs ('Moments' and 'So Many Things') on this record, together with Marco Sabiuhe. Blake would later release his own version of the latter track. Hailing from Sligo county, Perry Blake has been dubbed one of music's great untapped resources. Polydor UK released his debut album ‘Perry Blake' in 1998 (with three 'Singles of the Week' on Jo Wiley BBC Radio 1), after which he moved to France. He achieved cult status there and across Europe, releasing a string of critically-acclaimed studio albums, a live album recorded at Cirque Royal Brussels with a full orchestra, as well as the soundtracks for ‘Presque Rien' and 'Trois Petites Filles'. #Music #Interview #ContentCreation

Richard Rohr has written the most fastening book about the second half of life called, Falling Upward. In this episode, we have a great conversation about SO MANY THINGS!! We are the clumsy stewards of our own souls. Life is indeed momentous - created by accumulated moments in which the deeper “I” is slowly revealed if we are ready to see it. We are here to give back fully and freely what we were first given - ourselves - the most courageous and free act we will ever perform - it takes both halves of our life to do it. Richard Rohr, Falling Upward Talking about the Second Half of Life…. What is the difference between the two halves of life? ‘ What about the statement that no wise person ever wanted to be younger? What is a normal goal to a young person becomes a neurotic hindrance in old age. What are the tools we need in our tool kit for the second half of life? One cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life's morning; for what was great in the morning will bo of little importance in the evening, and what in the morning was true will be at evening a lie. - Carl Jung What about grace? Grace it at the foundation of everything. How do we see each other with truth and compassion and live a life of integrity? Our mature years are characterized by a kind of bright sadness and sober happiness. We understand “luminous darkness” - the simultaneous coexistence of deep suffering and intense joy - less need or interest in eliminating the negative or fearful, making rash judgements or holding on to old hurst or feelings. We understand the discernment of every day life. Wholeness comes from meditation, self-doubt, study and conversation. Creative doubt ( curiosity) keeps us with a perpetual “beginner's mind” - growing, humble, enduring the mystery of life.

One of the hardest decisions when divorcing a high-conflict spouse is how and when to tell that person that you want a divorce. How will the person react? Will I be in danger? Will my life become a worse hell?In this episode, Megan and Bill discuss this extremely relevant and important topic, starting with a question from a listener. They will discuss: What should you do if your partner doesn't know yet that you want a divorce? How should you tell that person? How should you prepare? What should you say? Where should you say it? Should you have someone with me? Is it okay to stay at home after delivering the news? What to be aware of going forward. Should the kids be told in advance? Or when do I tell them? I used to be afraid of so many things… Putting myself out there, being seen, failure - all the typical things, yes. But also other things that limited my experience of life and joy within it like roller coasters, ocean boats, flying, hiking by myself, public speaking, committing to stay consistent in a good habit. There was one pivotal moment in my life when I was a teenager where I practiced what I now teach, and discovered that just because we are afraid of something, doesn't mean that we can't do it, and more than that - doesn't mean that we can't release the fear completely and ENJOY it instead. I now have gotten over ALL of those fears above - including committing to stay consistent in something (today is a representation of that as it's episode 100 of this podcast!) - and not only that, I've discovered that I can do all of them with fear GONE completely and instead I get to have fun, love each experience, and see that there's so much more to do and explore than I used to believe possible for me. In today's episode, I'm sharing that story from when I was a teenager, where I unknowingly implemented a strategy that I've now since studied and teach, and how if I - a person who was afraid of SO MANY THINGS can get over my fears, experience exhilaration and joy, and discover who I really am - so can you. Jess & Morgan dive into the drama of failure and how we can reframe it. Failure can either be the big, fat, sucking thing, farting and burping at your dinner table at any conversation revolving around your dreams and aspirations. Preventing you from ever opening up the lollipop shop of your dreams... OR it can be a learning experience. Failure can be and actually IS a wonderful tool and metric, encouraging you to try again. In this week’s episode, I sat down with my AMAZING Virtual Assistant, Katie. If you’ve heard about ‘virtual assistants’ but not exactly sure what they do, what it’s like working from home or curious if YOU could potentially be a good fit in this role...then THIS episode is for YOU! Growing tired of the corporate job world, Katie knew she wasn’t meant for the 9 to 5 situation. Eager to be on the more creative side of things with a more flexible schedule, she joined some virtual assistant Facebook groups and landed her first few clients! Katie has now been working as a Virtual Assistant for 5 years helping bloggers, content creators, coaches + biz owners with the tasks that don’t light them up, so they can focus on the ones that do. Here are TEN key takeaways from my chat with Katie:Join virtual assistant Facebook groups - and don’t be afraid to reach out to potential clients! As a virtual assistant you can do SO MANY THINGS (which is the coolest thing!) - BUT find your niche, your ideal client, + hone into that. You make your OWN schedule as a VA - flexibility is one of the best parts about the job. It’s okay to do a trial run with a client before committing to any specific hours or pay - use the trial run to avoid any guesswork, especially when you're first starting out.If you’re a small business owner looking for a VA - join Facebook groups! (Trust me, Facebook is the best place for VAs to find clients + clients to find VAs). Building a base of clients was the hardest part of becoming a virtual assistant BUT reach out to people + trust that you can deliver on your promises. On the topic of promising - Don’t make unrealistic promises to clients. When it comes to getting paid: do your research first. See what other VAs in Facebook groups are charging for similar services, Google VA salaries in your area and then work backwards toward an hourly or package rate, and most importantly know your own worth and then add tax. A virtual assistant’s role is to amplify, not replicate, the client’s voice or brand.THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY: Do NOT undervalue yourself. Don't feel bad for walking away from the person who doesn’t see your value. You'll be so happy that you now have the capacity to take on that perfect client. You’ve heard me say it many times before, I don’t know what I would do without Katie! I am SO grateful for everything she does for me. Thank you, Katie, for such good advice. If you want to get more information about being a virtual assistant, you can look into those virtual assistant Facebook groups. And NEVER underestimate your worth. I realize that I am spitting out more podcasts that I know what to do with, but the reason is because I AM EXCITED and this is my lead up to the release of my wellness course on Jan 10th. (See below for details) I have recently embraced the change in myself to focus more on life style, self care, self discovery and growth mindset. This is something I have been passionate about for years. This means you will be getting a good bit of episodes of me rambling about things I have discovered that have helped me that I want to share with you all that might help you too. I begin this episode describing the fact that anytime I speak with someone that tells me about a person acting in a toxic way around them, I open up about this one thing that they can do to change their habits. The one thing that you can do today to start the flow of change. I tell anyone I can about it. I shout it from the rooftops! Because when you find something that works, you want other’s to know about it too! …and it does really work. Don’t believe me? I don’t blame you. I would have thought the exact same thing if I hadn’t learned from it. I have my friend Mia to thank for introducing me to the book Dance of Anger. Mia got cancer at a young age and we sat down to talk about SO MANY THINGS that every person needs to know going into it. She gave me this book suggestion, and I hate to say this book changed my life, but it really opened up some negative patterns that were swirling around me, how to spot them, and how you can actually change people’s behaviors around you. This book is geared toward women, but I truly think that it is an important lesson for any person who has tried to maybe give advice to someone and them never taking it, that they just keep swimming in their own misery. Check it out and let me know what you think. Haven’t signed up for 3 To Be Me- A Guided Journey of Self Discovery Through Total Body Connection yet? This first launch of my new course is special because I will be participating along side you! This one time only event will include me for your journey. Hi there! A year ago on this podcast, all the way back in Episode 10, I shared with you what I was going through trying to grow grass from seed in my yard I was so tired of putting all this time and effort into trying to get something to grow that just wasn’t going to… and as I was walking back to the house to turn the water back on, feeling hopeless and like I was pointlessly watering dirt, I looked down and saw… A BLADE OF GRASS. A single blade had popped up through the soil! Immediately, my motivation was RENEWED, and I couldn’t help but feel like this was an analogy for SO MANY THINGS in our lives. Especially for getting the word out about your nonprofit. There might be times where you feel like you’re just wasting your time. You feel discouraged and you just want to quit. I’m telling you – if you just keep showing up and clearly telling people what you do, it’s only a matter of time before you see growth. I’ve been thinking about that particular podcast episode, and you, the nonprofit leader, a lot lately, especially when I am outside moving the sprinkler around my yard. The grass is as lush as a hayfield, and knee high in some parts. Rabbits hop into my yard at dusk to munch away at the bright green blades, and prairie dogs start each morning by picking the seeds and taking them back to their burrows and stashing them away for winter. The grass is thick, and it blows in the wind like waves on the sea. It’s funny because A YEAR AGO, I could count how many tiny little grass seedlings were starting to barely come up from the barren dirt. In a year’s time, the growth is overwhelming and beautiful – and it feels like all the work was worthwhile. All these thoughts about growth also had me reflecting on one of my social media marketing clients – my mom’s pregnancy care center. About a year ago, my mom said numbers were down – they weren’t seeing as many patients. She suggested we try changing things up with our posts on Facebook and Instagram. We worked together to come up with a plan – very much like the plan and the ideas I share with you each week here – and here we are, a year later… The patient load at their pregnancy care center has dramatically increased from last year. Even through the COVID shutdown! What’s telling though, is that on their patient intake form, there is a question that asks, “How did you find us?” The most commonly checked boxes are Facebook and Google. My mom even says, when young women call the clinic, they commonly use the same wording we just posted on social media. It’s not magic, it’s not a secret method – it’s just about implementing – following through with the same things I share with you every week here on this podcast. So let’s check in… Have you been following through? Do you feel like the seeds you planted a year ago are growing? Are they thriving? Are they little seedlings? Or is it still just dirt and prayers? I’m asking because I know what it’s like to feel stuck. Believe me, with this podcast – and with the online course I’m building – it feels like the Field Of Dreams… “If you build it, they will come!” Sometimes I feel like I put in all this hard work and I’m not even sure it’s going to make a difference. But then, I work with so many nonprofits on their social media and I see – what I’m telling you here on this show, in every episode of Unlocking Your Nonprofit Potential - IT WORKS! You have so much good to give to the world, and we need that good now more than ever. I don’t want you to feel stuck. I want you to feel proud of what you’re doing. I want you to feel satisfied that you are successfully sharing the good you have to give to the world. I want you to feel confident that you’re making a difference! It’s easy to get into a rut. It’s easy to feel defeated. It’s easy to be swallowed up in our emotions. But if we can take a step back and look at the situation, and what isn’t working and then, think of how we can fix it, it’s amazing! We can fix whatever difficult situation we’re in by taking action. It’s good to look at everything in your life and check in to make sure you’re following through, and your seeds are growing, but today, right now, while you’re listening to this episode, I want you to specifically take a look at the marketing for your nonprofit. Have you been posting two times per week consistently on at least Facebook, if not Facebook and Instagram? Have you been keeping your posts short and to the point? Just a picture, plus 1-3 sentences with a call to action with your phone number or website? Have you been using pictures for your posts that will be appealing to the person you’re trying to help? Are you keeping in touch with your donors with weekly emails? Are you keeping in touch with the people you serve through email? Are you giving yourself enough time to market your events? These are just some things I want you to think about. Just take inventory. If you haven’t been doing all these things – hey, I get it! You are busy! I know how it is. But here’s what I want you to think about – the grass. Think about what would have happened if I never started watering the grass. Not much. Maybe a few blades here or there would have fought their way out of the dirt and made do with the 10 inches of rain we get here every year. What if I had watered it a little? Probably a little more grass would have grown. I made a commitment to water consistently – and the grass grew up around my house consistently. And even though the grass is green and lush, I’m still watering it – even green grass still needs attention. Think about the people your nonprofit helps. That’s your grass. Your quality, consistent posting on Facebook is like watering your grass. Your weekly emails to donors are like watering your grass. Sending out emails to the people you serve is like watering your grass. Giving yourself enough time to market your events is like watering your grass. Your grass isn’t going to be knee high overnight. It’s not magic. It’s not a secret method. It’s moving forward with consistency and purpose that makes it work. Take time to look at your marketing, then add one thing to implement consistently to what you’re already doing. Follow through with your nonprofit marketing. Remember – you are amazing! You can do this! You are already making great steps – you’re listening to this podcast which means you have the desire! Think about all the good you have to give to the world. You bring so much light to the people around you – don’t hide it! Ahhhh the end of the holidays! When we can all finally relax with all that gift giving and celebrating and just settle into our seasonal depression like a wet, warm blanket. Speaking of wet blankets, Zach, Andrew, and Kev are back at last from winter break and we played SO MANY THINGS. At least two! We're gonna talk about all those, along with gripping topics like retirement homes, food poisoning, tax audits, and we're gonna answer the question that will define 2020 for everyone we think: what's the difference between food and drug? The podcast today is a bit longer than usual because we had too much fun talking about a bunch of stuff: Which potato dish should we sacrifice to prepare for the upcoming potato shortage? How sad are is the wish list that adults make at Christmas? How ridiculous are those 'answer these questions and we'll tell you what kid of cat you are' quizzes? Is kicking the snow from your wheel well the best feeling ever? Can a puppy actually keep your house clean? Also, Cruz Confused Lyrics. SO MANY THINGS!

Have you ever tried to grow a lawn? No, not like paying someone to show up and throw sod down or put those perfectly pre-grown squares of grass across the ground… But have you actually spread out dirt yourself, and then tossed grass seed on the ground, raked it over, and prayed for it to start growing? That’s what I’ve been doing at my house – trying to grow grass. The other day, I was about to just quit. I had had enough. I was so tired of putting all this time and effort into trying to get something to grow that just wasn’t going to… and literally, as I was walking back to the house to turn the water back on, feeling hopeless and like I was pointlessly watering dirt, I looked down and saw… A BLADE OF GRASS. A single blade had popped up through the soil! Immediately, my motivation was RENEWED. Since then, I have continued watering, and now, I have THOUSANDS of blades of grass coming up from the ground!! It gives me hope that it might actually turn into a lawn one day! I know this sounds cheesy, but I couldn’t help but feel like this was an analogy for SO MANY THINGS in our lives. Especially for getting the word out about your nonprofit. There might be times where you feel like you are just wasting your time. You feel discouraged and you just want to quit. It may seem like there is NO POINT in continuing on. I’m telling you – if you just keep showing up and clearly telling people what you do, it’s only a matter of time before you see growth. In today’s episode, I’m sharing with you my three step plan for marketing your next event. This is a short-term effort that can yield major growth for your organization especially in terms of support and donors - which is why it’s so important. Facebook is an INCREDIBLE tool to use to market your event. It’s a great way to get the word out, build excitement, engage with your audience before the event, and build that know, like and trust factor that is so important in having a successful organization. I know, there are some people who say, “people don’t use Facebook anymore,” but friend, the numbers don’t lie. One of the largest research studies to date on the status of the event industry showed that 52% of professional event planners said that Facebook is the most effective social media channel for event marketing. Your Facebook event page will be the place people can turn to for event details like start time, where to sign up or buy tickets, information about the speaker or performers. Plus, if you keep updating your Facebook page, it will only help your credibility and grow your online presence. When your audience keeps seeing you active on Facebook, it helps them feel more confident about committing to going to your event. Here is my THREE-STEP PLAN for getting started with marketing your event on Facebook Create the event on Facebook ASAP Plan Your Posts Boost your post When you listen to Episode 10 today, you’ll hear tips and tricks about all three steps. You’ll find out what to include on the Facebook event page, how to come up with 15 – 18 ideas for posts that you can use over and over again, and when you should begin to market your event. Plus, we’ll talk about the very important topic of money and ideas for working within your budget – there are so many! Remember, the grass I talked about? You keep showing up to listen to this podcast, you are working smart on your nonprofit – it’s going to grow. You’ve got this! Every time you feel overwhelmed by something, especially if it’s new, just remind yourself of WHY you are doing this! Because you want to reach the people you want to serve! Because you want to make a difference! I know you might have questions, and I’d love to hear them so we can address them in future episodes! I absolutely LOVE hearing from you. Sophia Johnson (actor, comedian) is probably the first woman in history to get blocked for playing Magic: The Gathering with a guy her classmate had a crush on. He played an all-blue deck, so he was probably too controlling anyway. This episode sees the Blocked Boys get the lowdown on New Zealand's favourite soap opera (which Sophia acted on) and Stefan & John pitch their own ideas for a soap opera involving them. We also look at the fake Sophia who studied hieroglyphics, we check in on past guest Bryan Quinby from Street Fight Radio, and Stefan causes John an intense amount of emotional distress as John watches one of the worst videos in internet history. And finally, we announce our plans to land a big guest for Episode 50. If you want to ward off emotional distress, a great way to do that is by donating to the show at http://patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5 a month gets you access to TWO bonus episodes. This month, we have a mailbag feature episode with Kyle Bottom, and we're going to be debuting a NEW bonus episode format THIS WEEK! Exciting. Stefan and John are also hard at work writing newsletters, which you can access by upping your $5 donation to $8, or by skipping the audio content altogether and donating $4. SO MANY THINGS! Today we're joined on the show by Vincent James, who is the co-founder of an organisation called Keep Music Alive. They organise two big music holidays each year: Teach Music Week and Kids Music Day. In 2017 they partnered with over 600 music school and retail locations to help celebrate Teach Music Week and Kids Music Day by offering free music lessons and holding other community events including open houses, student performances and instrument donation drives. Vincent and his wife Joann are also authors of a book called "88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life" which features over 100 inspirational music stories from around the world, including a number of celebrities. And as if that wasn’t enough, Vincent is also the man behind LoveSongs.com, writing custom love songs on request. In this conversation, we was keen to find out more about the musician behind these three fascinating and impressive projects. We talk about: • The book “88+ Ways…” - what inspired him to take on such an ambitious project and how it came about. I also ask Vincent to share two of his favourite stories from the book. • His experience writing custom love songs for couples and his advice to all budding songwriters. • The two nationwide events he’s organised, partnering with over 600 music schools and stores across the US, to promote music learning. And Vincent shares the biggest lesson that comes through all of these projects and successes which you can apply to your own musical life. We've really loved reading a story or two from 88+ Ways each day recently, it’s a great way to stay aware of and inspired by the incredible power of music in our world. Between the stories Vincent shares in this conversation and the events he has coming up in 2018 that you can get involved in, you’re going to come away from this one feeling uplifted and inspired too. There is a yet ANOTHER case of a black male being gunned down in his youth for no reason. This story has been told so many times in this country that I feel that it actually has made people numb to the severity of it. Frankly, these type of stories happen so often, it sadly comes as NO SURPRISE to me. No matter if it is by the hands of an over zealous policeman, a couple of rednecks in Texas involving a truck and a rope, or the most recent example in Florida involving a self proclaimed neighborhood watchman and a bag of skittles. The last story is the inspiration of this episode, the case of TRAYVON MARTIN. You have heard the facts, which are pretty clean and clear: a young black teenager, Martin, was walking home from a store at 7pm minding his own business, and this obviously racist fake ass neighborhood watch patrolman thought he was suspicions, and a deadly gunshot ensues. See there are SEVERAL things wrong with this case, non the least of which is the gunman is NOT IN JAIL nor has he BEEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME. I could start with the shady police investigation that has now become a case that the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT has taken on. Which in itself says the local pigs are incapable of or unwilling to do their damn job. Or I can start with how a LAW that I actually agree should exist is being targeted as the REASON this racist asshole killed this child. SO MANY THINGS..but in the end the MAIN POINT IS once again AMERIKKKA (you know the other AMERICA that SOME people act like doesn't exist) has once again shown its ugly face and injustice system when it comes to African Americans. I will talk about this case and the self defense laws that are under attack as a result of the HATE CRIME (YES..it is HATE CRIME look up the definition!) that took the life of TRAYVON MARTIN.
Dark Spore, Tactics Ogre, Mass Effect 2 (briefly), Dragon Age: Origins, Meat Pudding, Lobster Rolls. SO MANY THINGS.
