On this episode we are talking to MISS HIALEAH USA a.k.a Isabela Corzo! Isabela Corzo is the deputy to the President at FIU. She is a 2x panther graduate earning a bachelors of science in biological science from the Honors College and a masters in public administration with a certificate in emergency management and home land security. Isabela began her career with FIU as a student serving in roles as a peer advisor and a research volunteer at the college of medicine. She's supported the efforts of various departments at the university including FIU in D.C. and the McNair Program at Student Access and Success. We discuss her role working with President Rosenberg, being a first-gen immigrant in the US, preparing for the Miss Florida pageant, and MORE!

Nadav Ben-Chanoch is the chief of staff at Pareto Holdings, where he oversees investments in a wide-range of industries and helps launch and scale tech companies out of Miami. Nadav is also a co-founder of Rowgatta, a health and wellness brand headquartered in New York City. Prior to launching Rowgatta, Nadav was a corporate lawyer at Kirkland & Ellis's New York office, specializing in private equity mergers and acquisitions.   On this episode we talk to Nadav about his role at Pareto Holdings, his not-so-linear path to where he is today coming from a Chemical Engineering major, his travels before law school, life lessons he's learned on his path so far, how starting a business changed his outlook on life, and MORE! 

On today's episode we are speaking with Dr. Carleen Vincent-Robinson! Dr. Vincent is a teaching professor and associate chair in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. Within the past year, Dr. Vincent-Robinson served as a panelist for a teach-in entitled "How to Understand and Deal with Gun Violence," interviewed Yusef Salaam, one of the Central Park (now, Exonerated) Five, served as a panelist in the "I Can't Breathe" town hall moderated by NBC 6's Willard Shepard, and moderated many more discussions around DEI at FIU. Currently, Dr. Vincent-Robinson is a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, Career Readiness Council, Academic Integrity Committee, SIPA Student Success Team, MLK Commemorative Celebration Committee, and Women Who Lead Conference Planning Committee. Tina Vidal is the Chief Executive Officer at CDR Health, Founder & President of Pooch Perks, former Chairwoman of the Honors College Advisory Board, and MORE! Through her role with CDR Health, Tina helps organizations respond to unprecedented events in new and innovative ways. This past year, Tina has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic with CDR's team of disaster health and medical experts who are assisting state and local governments respond to and manage the global health crisis that has been facing the world this past year. When it come to Pooch Perks, the company was founded to provide busy pet owners high quality, affordable, convenient dog products. Different toys and treats are shipped every month so subscribers and their pets will be surprised with every Perks box. This company was successfully sold in July 2017 and continues to operate and grow even today. Tune into this episode to hear us speak with Tina about her work with CDR help managing the pandemic, stories from the past year related to COVID-19 that have stuck with her, creating her own company like Pooch Perks, the importance of mentoring students, and MORE!

She is responsible for the Burger King Corporation's global legal and corporate governance affairs and manages the company’s worldwide ethics and compliance program. Jill reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Burger King Corporation.  She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management from FIU.  In this episode, the participants talk about what hospitality law is, what Jill’s role at RBI looks like day-to-day, how listeners can get involved in the hospitality industry, influential professors, and more!

Dr. Monteith is a proud Honors Alumna! Dr. Monteith is the Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and Chief of the Division of Headache in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami. She also has clinics at the Advanced Institute for Pain Management. Dr. Monteith’s research focus is on migraine and chronic disease states including chronic migraine and concussion. Her research focuses on neurometabolite distributions of chronic migraine and associations with indicators of clinical severity, including psychosocial impact.On this episode we discuss her journey to where she is today, her work in headache medicine, COVID-19 looking forward, and the importance of social justice within the medical field!

After 1 1/2 weeks of adopting Brea Jones (the Story-Telling intern from the Wolfsonian) we learned so much and wrapped up our time together by using Brea's  journalism skills to interview one of our Honors students about the Black experience.Brea interviews Caldwell Harris, an INCREDIBLE student who was recently featured on FIU news for her discussion on "the talk" black families have with their children about racism. Today we are joined by Emelie Jimenez, the President of BC Community Project (New Honors Club). BC Community Project is a student-led club that is working on establishing a safe shelter for the homeless community in Miami to have a place to lay their heads at night when they are turned down from certain shelters or have run out of options on where to rest and lay their belongings. Pete Markowitz is the new Assistant Dean for the Honor College! As a physicist, Markowitz's research interests focus on the source of gravity, extra dimensions, black holes, quark structure of nuclei, dark matter, dark energy and the electro production of quarks and anti-quarks (or matter and anti-matter).  On this episode we talk about the research he's done and how Physics answers some of life's biggest questions!He is also a member of the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity and the Faculty Athletic representative! Let Your Voices Echo (L.Y.V.E.) is an independent project led by FIU students Melanie Rodriguez and Frederic Aurelien. L.Y.V.E addresses issues of social justice and their inherent connection to the arts. Claire is an "un-traditional" student who began her time at FIU at the age of 48 after raising two sons and running her own photography business. Claire went above and beyond during her time at FIU and is now currently earning her PhD in Clinical Psychology (with a focus on dark personality traits) at the University of Notre Dame!
