We pride ourselves in providing an interdisciplinary education and experience that help students find their passions, excel in their academics, and become better people by exploring ideas outside of their majors. We help our students become more than just their major. This podcast will comprise of many informal conversations with current students, alumni, and community partners of the Honors College where we will discuss interesting new ideas, offer advice, and learn about each other in a deeper way!

    On this episode we are talking to MISS HIALEAH USA a.k.a Isabela Corzo! Isabela Corzo is the deputy to the President at FIU. She is a 2x panther graduate earning a bachelors of science in biological science from the Honors College and a masters in public administration with a certificate in emergency management and home land security. Isabela began her career with FIU as a student serving in roles as a peer advisor and a research volunteer at the college of medicine. She's supported the efforts of various departments at the university including FIU in D.C. and the McNair Program at Student Access and Success. We discuss her role working with President Rosenberg, being a first-gen immigrant in the US, preparing for the Miss Florida pageant, and MORE!

    Nadav Ben-Chanoch is the chief of staff at Pareto Holdings, where he oversees investments in a wide-range of industries and helps launch and scale tech companies out of Miami. Nadav is also a co-founder of Rowgatta, a health and wellness brand headquartered in New York City.     On today's episode we are speaking with Dr. Carleen Vincent-Robinson! Dr. Vincent is a teaching professor and associate chair in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. Within the past year, Dr. Vincent-Robinson served as a panelist for a teach-in entitled "How to Understand and Deal with Gun Violence," interviewed Yusef Salaam, one of the Central Park (now, Exonerated) Five, served as a panelist in the "I Can't Breathe" town hall moderated by NBC 6's Willard Shepard, and moderated many more discussions around DEI at FIU. Currently, Dr. Vincent-Robinson is a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, Career Readiness Council, Academic Integrity Committee, SIPA Student Success Team, MLK Commemorative Celebration Committee, and Women Who Lead Conference Planning Committee. This past year, Tina has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic with CDR's team of disaster health and medical experts who are assisting state and local governments respond to and manage the global health crisis that has been facing the world this past year. When it come to Pooch Perks, the company was founded to provide busy pet owners high quality, affordable, convenient dog products. Different toys and treats are shipped every month so subscribers and their pets will be surprised with every Perks box. This company was successfully sold in July 2017 and continues to operate and grow even today.     Pete Markowitz is the new Assistant Dean for the Honor College! As a physicist, Markowitz's research interests focus on the source of gravity, extra dimensions, black holes, quark structure of nuclei, dark matter, dark energy and the electro production of quarks and anti-quarks (or matter and anti-matter).  On this episode we talk about the research he's done and how Physics answers some of life's biggest questions!He is also a member of the Office to Advance Women, Equity & Diversity and the Faculty Athletic representative!
