There are three major “currents” shaping our world in 2025 and beyond:The MAGA movement as an American cultural resetThe End of Globalization and why “Made in the USA” (plus Mexico, Colombia, and the rest of the Western Hemisphere) is the new frontierAI Everywhere—how it's transforming the workforce, but maybe not in the ways you've been soldThis episode is a total eye-opener if you're an entrepreneur, intrapreneur, or just someone who wants to stay ahead of the curve. We talk about how the real opportunities might not be coming out of Ivy League universities, but from trade schools, welding shops, and brand-new AI-augmented careers. If you want to see the forces that will reshape your business and life, this is the conversation you do not want to miss.KEY TAKEAWAYSMAGA as a Cultural (Not Just Political) ShiftMAGA isn't about party lines; it's an entire value system favoring hard work, “blue-collar billionaires,” and a distrust of elite arrogance.Local manufacturing, working with your hands, and skilled trades are becoming the new American status symbols. The End of Globalization and the Rise of the Western HemisphereThe old global trade routes and supply chains are breaking apart—COVID disruptions and new tariffs blew them up for good. The U.S., Mexico, and South America are stepping up to manufacture and trade, keeping the skill sets (and money) closer to home.Universities will see competition from specialized trade programs and community colleges as we seek practical, high-paying skills. The Quiet AI Revolution—But Not the Way You ThinkDespite the trillion-dollar investments, AI breakthroughs aren't quite matching the hype on corporate balance sheets. The real power of AI is happening in everyday life—think personal tutoring, massive content digestion, accelerating product creation, and localizing tasks that used to require big teams.AI is an enhancer, not a human replacement. The winners are those who master AI to add value—faster, better, and more affordably than ever.Broadcast Media vs. Podcast DominanceTraditional, scripted media is losing credibility and reach. Meanwhile, long-form podcasts let people dive deep and truly connect.Trust is built by spending time, not pushing sound bites. Listeners want 7+ hours of authentic conversation before they buy in.Why “Blue-Collar Billionaires” Might Shape The FutureEntrepreneurs like Donald Trump changed the game: he's arguably the first truly entrepreneurial president since George Washington.Love him or hate him, he tapped into a cultural wave that values practical work, personal freedom, and entrepreneurial grit.TIME STAMPS[00:00] MAGA as the New Dominant CultureDan kicks off with why MAGA represents far more than a political slogan—he predicts it's the wave for the next 50 years.[02:00] Winds, Waves & CurrentsWe discuss Dan's analogy of focusing on deeper “currents” (mega-trends) vs. surface-level “news.”[03:14] The Three Big Currents: MAGA, AI & End of GlobalizationDan maps out how these trends intersect and why you need to pay attention.[06:52] Shift to Skilled Trades & ApprenticeshipsFrom welding to HVAC—why college may not be the guaranteed golden ticket anymore.[10:35] The Collapse of Old MediaPodcasts and long-form content are in; top-down “scripted” broadcasts are out. Trust is earned by time, not by titles.[19:40] Why the U.S. is Coming HomeThe breakdown of global trade and how manufacturing back in America changes everything.[24:55] AI Reality CheckTrillion-dollar investments, yes—but where's the killer app? We talk about what's actually working and where the real opportunities lie.[32:18] New Paths to Education & ProsperityPersonal AI tutors, community college partnerships, trade certs—welcome to the new learning ecosystem.[45:52] Solving the Energy ConundrumAI demands tons of power. Is portable nuclear the next big push? We explore the possibilities.[55:00] A Peek Into 2025…And BeyondWhy a more entrepreneurial, Western Hemisphere-focused future could bring back trust, pride, and plenty of opportunity.Additional ResourcesDownload your FREE digital and/or audio version of my bestselling book, “Ai Accelerator”SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE VIDEOS

Kat is joined by Seema Menon, who shares her journey from being a ‘constantly on’ sales director to discovering the transformative power of mindfulness and balance. She discusses her experiences leading at Sony Pictures and completing marathons, challenging the "busy culture" mindset while offering practical ideas for sustainable high performance. This episode also features surprising statistics about productivity and includes a compelling discussion on why the simplest solutions are often the most effective. KEY TAKEAWAYS Rather than making life easier, technology has created a "scarcity mindset" where we feel compelled to work harder and achieve more, leading to chronic stress and burnout. Small, sustainable changes like five minute meditation breaks or mindful walking can have more impact than dramatic lifestyle overhauls, making them more likely to stick and create lasting positive change. The cost of burnout extends far beyond work performance, affecting relationships, health, and finances, with some people taking years to recover from severe burnout. Businesses are seeing more silent resignations and decreased efficiency due to the "always on" culture, particularly in hybrid work environments where boundaries between work and personal life have blurred. Intentional congruence - combining activities like walking meetings, can help integrate mindfulness into busy schedules without feeling like it’s wasted time. Morning routines incorporating exercise or mindfulness can boost workplace productivity by up to 72%, while quality sleep can increase productivity by 29%. Seema's practice of mindfulness made her more aware of others' challenges, transforming her leadership style to become more empathetic and supportive of team members. BEST MOMENTS "Nobody's going to say that I wish I did that extra one hour of work and got that additional deal for that organisation. It would always be regret about not having spent enough time with their children." "Every time you look at the clock, bring a smile to your face, you're alive and kicking." "We get so caught up in this trap of work and careers... What are your children going to remember? What are your partners, your family, your friends going to remember?” "You don't have to always be the Iron Man or the superwoman... just be yourself and just be kind." ABOUT THE GUEST Seema has over 19 years diverse experience in Broadcast Media and Entertainment predominantly in Advertising Sales. Her previous role as Region Head of Sales, Sony Pictures Network entailed leading teams across multiple geographies with revenue generation responsibilities. Seema has had a stint in technology (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) at SparkBeyond, UK, an AI scale-up, as Impact Strategist (EMEA). At present, she pursues her entrepreneurial venture as a Coach, Mentor and Keynote Speaker, conducting various Apperceptive programs with Headstride Ltd. Seema remains immersed in her Leadership roles at Toastmasters International, as a Mentor at The Prince's Trust and at CSO UK as a Steering Committee Member. LinkedIn ABOUT THE HOST Kat started her career as a teacher, before moving into Tech where she worked in different executive roles within teaching and consulting working across the globe, both in the public and private sector. Despite appearing 'successful' on the outside, she paid a heavy ‘life’ price. In 2016, her whole world collapsed. The reason? The compound effect of years of unhealthy and toxic habits that destroyed her health, relationship and career. She suffered a severe breakdown and lost everything. In the middle of this she got headhunted for her first CEO role. She rebuilt herself by changing just one small habit, and built a series of positive habits which has transformed her professional and personal performance, resulting in becoming the healthiest and happiest version of herself. She is a positive habits international keynote speaker and teacher, giving talks and delivering high impact programmes to organisations across the globe. LinkedIn Instagram

In this episode, Gil Jenkins sits down with Bill Weir, Chief Climate Correspondent at CNN, for a rich, engaging, and meaningful conversation about his new book, “Life As We Know It (Can Be): Stories of People, Climate, and Hope in a Changing World.”While reporting from every state and every continent, Bill Weir has spent decades telling the stories of unique people, places, cultures, and creatures on the brink of change. As the first Chief Climate Correspondent in network news, he's immersed in the latest science and breakthroughs on the topic, while often on the frontlines of disasters, natural and manmade. In 2020, Bill began distilling these experiences into a series of Earth Day letters for his then-newborn son to read in 2050, to help him better understand the world he will have grown up in and be better prepared to embrace the future. Bill's work and his letters were the inspiration for “Life As We Know It (Can Be),” which confronts the worry and wonder of climate change with messages and examples of hope for all of us on how a better future can still be written. Highlighting groundbreaking innovation in fields of clean energy, food and water sources, housing and building materials, and more, and touching on how happiness, resilience, and health and wellness factor into the topic of climate change, Bill's stories take readers on a global journey, from one community in Florida that took on a hurricane and never lost power, to the Antarctic Peninsula where one species of penguin is showing us the key to survival, to the nuclear fusion labs where scientists are trying to build a star in a box.  Through a tapestry of stories—tales of resilience, community, and the indomitable human spirit— ‘Life As We Know It (Can Be)' celebrates our planet's marvels, contemplates our collective desires, and calls us all to unite with nature and each other. It's about preparing and planning for the future, together. Links: Book: “LIFE AS WE KNOW IT (CAN BE): Stories of People, Climate, and Hope in a Changing World”Bill Weir's fourth letter on Earth Day to his young son (CNN, April 22, 2024)Bill Weir BioBill Weir on XBill Weir on LinkedInEpisode recorded April 19, 2024 Email your feedback to Chad, Gil, and Hilary at climatepositive@hasi.com or tweet them to @ClimatePosiPod.

However, when working in TV and Broadcast Media, creating content promoted to millions of viewers from both inside and outside of your own community, the question of how you want to be perceived and understood is one that will have to be asked.During this interview I will unpack the experience of popular black British female TV Presenter, Scarlette Douglas, who much like many of us, wants to try new looks and hairstyles, showcasing the beauty of her natural hair one day and the variety of braids, bantu knots or extensions the next, whilst still protecting the health of her hair AND progressing and flourishing in her career. We discuss the power of visibility and representation in the media for younger generations of talented people of colour that are looking for faces that are reminiscent of their own, and dig into what we feel needs to change in the landscape of TV to perpetuate an ongoing positive narrative for the black community who may themselves strive to one day also see themselves in the media.FOLLOW SCARLETTE ON SOCIALS:INSTAGRAMFOLLOW TEXTURE TALKS ON SOCIALS:INSTAGRAM TIKTOK WEBSITESPONSORS:INSTAGRAM WEBSITE Teresa and Eleanore Richardson from Fulham Scalp and Hair Clinic are an absolutely INCREDIBLE black female mother daughter led team of highly experienced Consultant Trichologists who since 2011 have provided the afro and curly haired community with help, support and guidance to get our hair care journeys back on track. As such highly respected Afro hair Trichologists I couldn't think of a better sponsor to partner with on the next segment of Texture Talks and to guide me personally on my own natural hair care journey.Learn more about them at www.fulhamscalphairclinic.com and use discount code TEXTURETALKS5 for 5% off your consultation fee.

Fortunately he didn't lose his job and started sharing what he figured with others on YouTube, founding Five Minute Social Media. Think about ways to offer valuable resources that make people say, "I can't say no to this!"2️⃣ Be strategic with social media: Instead of trying to be everywhere, invest your time and effort in one or two social media platforms that align with your target audience. Treat them like plants that need attention and nurturing, and carefully analyze the value they bring to your business.3️⃣ Utilize the "Date" framework: To build and nurture relationships with your audience, follow the "Date" framework – discover, acquaint, talk, and enchant. New York City played a starring role in the story of American broadcast media, perhaps especially when it came to television. The city was both a major market for television, a proving ground for television techniques and technologies, and an on-screen character in televised news and entertainment. The very physicality of the city, with its canyon-like streets and towering steel and concrete edifices, played a material role in the development and popularization of American television. Historian and media scholar Richard Popp, associate professor at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, is working on a book project exploring the close inter-relationship between New York City and broadcast media, with a focus on television and its associated industries and politics. Using numerous Hagley collections, including the RCA archive, the David Sarnoff papers, and the Margolies collection of travel ephemera, Dr. Popp uncovers a fascinating story of first adopters, regulators, and a society grappling with new, potent technologies. In support of his work, Popp received aid from the Center for the History of Business, Technology, & Society at the Hagley Museum & Library. The American tobacco oligopoly of five firms loomed large in the mid-twentieth century thanks to the addictive qualities of their products and the massive investment they made in broadcast marketing communications, influencing the media experience of millions of Americans and the wider landscape of American media for generations. Media historian Peter Kovacs is conducting research on the influence of American tobacco firms on broadcast media, and argues that the tobacco company sponsorship of broadcast programs on radio and television profoundly shaped the form and content of both individual programs and the broadcast media industry at large. Using Hagley's unrivalled collection of marketing and advertising archives, including the papers of ad agency giant BBD&O, Kovacs assembles a story of corporate competition over the airwaves from the first tobacco -sponsored radio program in 1924 to the banning of broadcast tobacco advertising in 1971. Dr. Kovacs received support for his research from the Center for the History of Business, Technology, & Society at the Hagley Museum & Library. What happens when you girl-boss too hard? Breaking out of the scarcity mindset. How does multi-hyphenating contribute to cultural preservation? The American Dream The concept of Ann Bogart's Satz Lydia-Renee Darling is an actor-producer and founder with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts and an MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. As a biracial, second-generation Ghanaian-American, Lydia aims to explore identity, belonging and mental health within heightened worlds and uses live immersive theatre with digital interactive elements to enhance audience impact.  #rememberadam, a Zoom short produced, written and acted by Lydia in response to the Kenosha shootings in her home state, was chosen for the Lift Off Sessions festival, First Time Filmmaker Festival and Andromeda Film Festival. A portion of her play, The Thin Gray Line, has been seen at Bob Carter's Actors' Rep and she performed in her short play, Twenty-Five and Other Things, at The Pleasance in the Dear Black People Festival in July 2021.  Lydia is the Founder of Oh! A systemic lack of access to visibility and guidance in the entertainment industry has resulted in fewer BIPOC professionals, making fewer and fewer BIPOC want to enter the industry… and so the cycle repeats. OMG breaks this vicious cycle of underrepresentation. At Oh! When Sam found out we were doing the fundraiser together, he asked me to come on his nationally syndicated country radio show to promote the fundraiser. In the process, we found out that our networks are actually pretty closely linked with many mutual friends and acquaintances.    Sam and I kept in touch, and we began crossing paths with him at a number of charity events. I became fascinated with his work, which led me to invite him onto the podcast.   Sam is much more than a music talk show host. He is passionate about broadcast journalism, and created an organization called Camp Broadcast to help young adults who are interested in entering the broadcast industry create a reel, network with industry professionals, and get real-world experience.    As someone who pursued journalism in college and high school, I was really inspired by his desire to enable young people to enter the field. I had a passion for journalism and storytelling, but never really knew how to get started in a professional capacity. Thinking back to this period of my life, however, I would have loved to attend a program like Camp Broadcast. The opportunities these students are able to receive beyond school will help them immensely.    Through my conversation with Sam, I learned more about this program and what inspired him to give back and help these aspiring journalists, as well as find out how he can balance it with being a family man, radio host, and all-around great guy.    Find Sam Alex here:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/samalexradio/   Website: https://samalexradio.com/    Twitter: https://twitter.com/SamAlexRadio    Find Nick Thompson here:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nthompson513/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXipWcR8Pit6vYHd1ZcKgKg

In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with media celebrity, SiriusXM Radio host, speaker, writer, and media consultant, https://www.sharrarnemorton.com/ (Sharrarne Morton). Sharrarne explains that she majored in broadcast journalism and even had a radio show. She knew it was her calling as she left college. She was then asked to do some commentary on an ABC affiliate for a one-off appearance, where their ratings went through the roof as a result. Because of the audience's reaction to her, they asked her to come back again and again. That turned into a 14 year long career with ABC. During that time, Sharrarne opened a media company. After 14 years with ABC, SiriusXM Radio offered her a position as a radio host, which is where Sharrarne has been for the past seven years. Sharrarne is on SiriusXM/HUR Voices Channel 141 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.  Sharrarne is also a media coach. People often ask her how to get on television and radio. She shares it's not as glamorous as it seems and it takes a lot of meticulous hard work and mentoring. The biggest part of being in media is networking; you need to constantly been on the competitive cutting edge and bring fresh ideas to the table.  Sharrarne shares that she coaches on how to interview and resonate with an audience. On radio especially, your voice has to truly shine through. It requires more work to captivate an audience. There are many coaches, consuiltants, and business owners out there who want to increase their authority and credibility. The best way to do this is to appear on TV, radio, and in podcasts. Now matter how big social media becomes, broadcast media is still as prevalent and influential as ever.  Josh and Sharrarne also discuss the mistakes many business owners make when persuing media appearances. Sharrarne shares that many entrepreneurs overestimate the value of the visibility of their appearances in media. You need to focus more on establishing authority, because this is what's going to help you network and make your way into other media appearances.  Sharrarne's show is always looking for guests who her audience will resonate with. She shares that her guests need to have authority in their space, but that she makes it easy and accessible to reach her if you're interested in being a guest. Her show is open to any market or niche expert that can serve value to her audience.  If you think you'd be a great guest on Sharrarne's show, you can reach out to her at shar@sharrarnemorton.com.  Want to learn more?
