Story at-a-glance Exercise headaches affect up to 26% of adults and occur even when properly hydrated, often due to how the brain manages heat during physical exertion Your brain cools itself by increasing blood flow, which raises pressure in your skull that triggers headaches, especially if you're new to exercise or increase intensity too quickly Warning signs include vision problems, nausea or thunderclap headaches that come on suddenly; these require medical evaluation to rule out serious conditions Prevention strategies include warming up slowly, staying well-hydrated before and during workouts, exercising in cool environments and gradually building fitness levels Most exercise headaches are harmless and typically improve over time as your cardiovascular system adapts to physical stress

One of the current trends on TikTok is called the McMigrane Meal. It's spreading the word that people can get relief from migraines and severe headaches. The recommended cure is to drink a regular Coca-Cola with french fries. It may not work for all, but it can't hurt. I suffered from migraine-type headaches for many years. And I swear by a similar 'cure'. My go-to is Coke and Pringles potato chips. I guess I should have posted my version on TikTok. Who knows; it could have gone viral. While these options are exactly alike, they both include two things: sugar and salt... [Content warning: this episode contains frank discussions of medical examiner photos our students had to view during lectures, and which some listeners will find disturbing.] Friendships, food, and failing forward gets med students through the first year. No one tells you how much of med school is powered by free pizza and shared panic. As M1s Alexis Baker, Samantha Gardner, Raegen Abbey, and Zach Grissom wrap up their first year at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, we talk about what actually got them through M1: strategic free food hunting, skipping lectures for sanity, and learning to live with the sound of your own stomach during exams. This raw and ridiculous reflection features stories of biochem-induced breakdowns, unexpected weight loss, and vacation cruises gone very wrong. We also play “Vibey,” a game that perfectly captures med student emotional trauma. Bonus topics: marriage math, spring break disasters, moldy mugs, and the shock of learning how people die for credit.
A listener drops the tea on a messy rental salon situation: rent hikes, commission assistants in a booth rental space, unclear policies, and a salon owner watching everyone on motion-sensor cameras. Cyd and David unpack why hybrid models get chaotic fast, how leadership confusion breeds distrust, and why booth renters need to understand they're glorified tenants—not team members. Oh, and if you're scared of salon cameras? You might just be scared of getting caught.

With just two weeks until Rachel Reeves' spending review, there are calls from across the Labour frontbench for more cash — just as the Chancellor needs to tighten the purse strings. But perhaps the most striking intervention comes from the UK's top police chiefs — including Sir Mark Rowley — who today warned that the Government's crime targets will suffer if funding is slashed. This comes despite a £3bn increase in funding and 20,000 new officers since 2016.Can Rachel Reeves balance economic control with growing spending demands from her own party? And does she risk being outflanked by Nigel Farage's Reform UK?Elsewhere, away from Westminster, King Charles is in Canada at the state opening of parliament — and did he make a not-so-subtle dig at Donald Trump's ambitions to annex his northerly neighbours? We want to hear from you!
