MatchDay 2 | Premier League 2019/20 • Lacazette and Aubameyang both on the scoresheet to give Arsenal a perfect start so far. Some of the new summer arrivals are still settling into the team, let's see what they can produce against Liverpool next weekend! • It's a perfect start for Liverpool as well as they've bagged two wins out of two games. Pretty even game against Southampton as the Saints had a lot of goal scoring opportunities but luckily, the Reds were far more clinical! • Manchester City dominated the entire game but had nothing to show for at the end of the match. Spurs only managed three shots (vs. 30 for City) but were successful in scoring against the run of play. BIG performance from KDB, is he gonna be back to his best?! • Leicester denies a first win in the Premier League for Frank Lampard but team shows encouraging signs. Academy product (yes, you read that right) Mason Mount has another fine performance and is rewarded with a goal at the Bridge! • United dominates the first half through a fantastic Martial goal but Ruben Neves denies them a win with a superb goal in the second half. In 2006, the Calciopoli scandal devasted Juventus and left the Old Lady in relegated in the Serie B wilderness. A little over 10 years later, they have conquered Italy time and time again and are now in the conversation as one of Europe's biggest club. Led by Andrea Agnelli's incredible leadership, the Turin-based club has experienced an unprecedented growth in every aspect of the club thanks to changes in structure, organization, branding and strategy. This growth was culminated last summer, when Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club. Juventus have won 8 scudetti in a row, and are now committed more than ever to reach the European holy grail after two unlucky finals in 2015 and 2017. So how exactly did Juventus reach such heights in a very short time? The Bianconeri Show join us in the discussion today to share their point of view and let us know if Sarri is the man to take them to the next step. Last week, Axel and special guest Leisa had a candid conversation about how 2019 would be remembered as a pivotal moment for women's soccer around the world. Popularity of women's soccer is really taking off and established clubs in Europe have taken notice of that, and there is a feeling they are taking it a lot more seriously given the financial incentives of a growing, untapped market. As women's soccer vies to become more mainstream (the good), it is important to also discuss the bad, the ugly and how much progress still needs to be made. Women and young girls around the world have historically faced - and continue to face - economic and societal barriers that exclude them from freely and fully playing the beautiful game. In this episode, we discuss the systemic sexism - with stories from South America - the financial inequalities between men's and women's soccer and the issue of equal pay in the context of bonuses with national teams. Lastly, we touch on the discrimination of women within men's football in the areas of coaching, refereeing and positions of power. ENJOY ya filthy animals! With all the record-breaking attendances at domestic league games in Italy, Spain and England, over 1.7 million people expected to fill stadiums all over France, and FIFA forecasting the World Cup viewership around the world to hit the billion mark, 2019 will definitely be remembered as a major turning point for women's soccer around the globe. Established clubs in Europe and other regions investing more heavily in women's soccer - some of them putting together their first ever female sides - and brands tapping into a commercially young and growing market gives us the feeling that women's soccer is generally becoming more mainstream. In this episode, Leisa joins us to discuss the pivotal moment that is the World Cup and we talk about the group stages, best games so far, players who have impressed, as well as predictions and which team will be up there to fight for the ultimate trophy. Stay tuned for part II - we'll be discussing important topics such as the enormous inequalities between men & women's soccer as well as the discrimination of women within men's soccer. Final | Champions League 2018/19 In this episode we mostly do a review of the *boring* Champions League final! We go over both managers' tactics and how they affected the game, as well as some things that we think could have been done differently. Was that an actual penalty for Liverpool early on in the game? Was Poch right to start Kane after being out for a month and a half? Tune in to listen to our opinions! The Gunners just convincingly beat Chelsea 2-0 to reduce the top-4 gap to three points. Emery played a brilliant midfield diamond with Ramsey at the tip, who marked Jorginho and effectively nullified him. Chelsea offered nothing going forward as no player made runs into the box, which made it easier for Arsenal to defend. Does Chelsea being poor mean that the victory was a little overhyped? They are constantly on the front foot, press high up the pitch, recover the ball in dangerous areas & are scoring goals. • 29'25" | Chelsea - The Blues' form has been patchy of late (LWWD). Goals are hard to come by as they have no natural striker & as a result have dropped 5 points. How much longer can they cope with Hazard as a false 9? • 36'05" | Tottenham - Goals have flown lately with notable performances from the likes of Son, Kane & Eriksen but they've slipped at home to Wolves. Can Poch's men make the title a three-horse race or are they just going to put the pressure on? • 42'30" | Arsenal - The Gunners are yet to rediscover their form (WDLW) & have suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Liverpool. Emery has transformed the side on many levels in just five months but the club will have to back him as he looks to trim his squad & add more quality. The Blues' form has been patchy lately as they operate without a real striker. Can they keep Hazard happy as a false 9? • 27'36" - City experience their second PL defeat in a row and dramatically drop to third place. Guardiola's six out of 11 PL defeats have come in December!
